“United in Faith”
From the Pastor’s Desk
It's the beginning of
another Advent in our lives.
For us, it's a time of liturgical
preparation to experience
anew the birth of God's Son.
It is a time of true hope for
all people, a time for new
perspectives and new
challenges. However, this is
also an opportunity for
change, purging our former way of life. It’s an occasion
of joy and willingness to meet the newborn Jesus.
Every year Advent reminds us, that once again, we
became too attached to this world and too invested in the
present. We have forgotten that the world will meet its
end and that nothing will remain as it is. Advent directs
us to look ahead, plan for the future. The future is
identical to the present, which is full of light and
darkness. However, our future is Jesus Christ! He is the
One who came and who will come again. He is the One
who repeatedly returns. Christians await for His day, His
Advent. Advent means arrival, God’s arrival for
mankind. God comes forth, to bestow the present time
with grace, as a way into the future. "I am the way," says
Jesus, and by means of His birth, He enters into our life.
Advent reminds us that Christians are people filled
with gratitude and holy impatience. As St. Paul said, we
should be thankful for the gifts of the Holy Spirit: for
faith and hope, for the "revelation of our Lord Jesus
Christ". We should be impatiently looking toward His
return. We should come forth toward Him. We should be
persistent during our journey toward Him. The degree of
our holy impatience fully depends on the strength of our

faith and our love. The testimony of our life's faith and
love is our faithfulness. Can anyone be faithful, when we
postpone indefinitely our meeting with God?
We should be vigilant during Advent. Today's Gospel
says, "Take heed and keep watch, because you do not
know when the time will come." To keep watch means to
clearly see the reality in which we live and to see where
we are heading in the future. The future is Christ, who
now resides among us through his word and Sacrament.
Advent announces that God is close, very close. You
have a chance to meet him. We, as people, do not have
any method with which we could measure His infinity.
We do not have hands with which we could grasp Him.
We do not possess an intellect with which we can
understand His essence or help us understand Him. But
He gave us a heart capable of searching and finding Him.
God is nearby, although not out in the open.
Along with the beginning of Advent we are called,
once again, to find God's trail and to follow it. We can't
allow the returning King to find us lost in the wilderness,
dark alleys or dead-end streets.
Let us keep an unshakable watch in prayer, until we
have a change of heart. Despite difficulties,
discouragement and disappointment may our heart be
always dedicated to Christ. May we find refuge in God's
arms during difficult times.
- Fr. Valdi
Prayer for our new
Archbishop
Most Rev. Blase J. Cupich
O God, eternal shepherd of
the faithful, who tend your
Church in countless ways and
rule over her in love, look with
favor on your servant
Archbishop Blase Cupich. Grant
him, we pray, a spirit of counsel and fortitude, a spirit of
knowledge and piety, so that he may build up in the
world the sacrament of the Church. By word and example
may he be of service to those over whom he presides, so
that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may
come to eternal life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your
Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

St. Patrick’s Church
Fr. Bill Bruning from Kansas City, Kansas will be the
Tri-Parish Advent Mission presenter.
Come join us.
Father Bill Bruning is a priest of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. After
graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in Biology, he attended St.
Meinrad Seminary in Indiana where he received his Masters of Arts in Catholic
Thought, and his Masters of Divinity. He was ordained in 1993. He founded a summer
enrichment program for the youth called Camp Polycarp. He also worked as the
Chaplain for two Catholic High Schools. In 2004, he was appointed as the founding
pastor of Mother Teresa Catholic Church in Topeka, Kansas. This was the first new
parish in the United States to be named after Mother Teresa. As pastor of Mother
Teresa Church, he lead his parish to build an orphanage in Caddupa, India. They built
the orphanage before building their own parish plant. He also helped to facilitate a
feeding pavilion for the elderly poor in India. Locally, he helped to found a pro-life
crisis pregnancy center called, "Mary's Choices" of Topeka, Kansas. He also helped to
found a street ministry in Topeka called "Mother Teresa's Hands of Hope."
Ministry took its toll and in what seemed like the darkest moment of his life,
Fr. Bruning was removed from ministry and sent to Guest House, a treatment center for
Catholic clergy who suffer from alcoholism and addiction. What seemed like the
greatest humiliation, became the greatest gift. Through the gift of recovery, Father Bill
has been restored to ministry. He is very actively involved in the recovery community.
He works in the inner city with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor of Jesus Christ.
Fr. Bill goes into the streets with these wonderful nuns into homeless camps and in the alleys and under bridges where they
use food as a tool to befriend the poorest of the poor. Here they encounter Jesus in the disturbing disguise of the poor. The
sisters bring many of the women off the streets and live with them and encourage those with addiction issues to enter
recovery. As chaplain for the sisters, and as "pastor" for the poor in the streets, Father Bill says, "We offer them bread, but
they offer us Heaven." "For I was hungry and you gave me food....come to Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of
the world." (MT 25) "We as Church must love them until they learn to love themselves, and then we are going to keep loving
them." This is the philosophy of Fr. Bill.
Come spent a few days with Father Bill Bruning and see the miracle of your own life.
Have You Had Your Home Blessed?
The blessing of households / houses is part of the heritage of Catholic Tradition. The primary focus
of such blessings is the people who live in the dwelling place and the use that they make of the place
and its several parts. Those who participate in these blessings acknowledge that the place in which the
family dwells ultimately is a gift from God and ask for God to be always present in their lives. People
pray that their household may be an instrument of God’s blessing in society and all of creation and
affirm that the people who dwell in these homes are a holy people set apart for God’s work. Household blessings remind
us that we need to be compassionate toward those persons who have no housing and always be welcoming to the
stranger.
If you have just moved into your house, have never had your house blessed or have recently completed some major
construction work, please feel free to call the rectory and set an appointment for Fr. Valdi or Deacon Mike to pay a visit.

Reasons to Register Your Family
• God calls each one of us by name, through Baptism, to
be united in faith as God’s family. Registration is a
sign of commitment and support to the overall life of a
parish community. It indicates one’s willingness to
belong to our parish family.
• It is necessary that our Parish Staff has the basic
information to contact and communicate with
individual families. Telephone numbers and home
addresses provide helpful information so that we can
minister to families, especially in times of emergency.
• Every Catholic needs to have their sacramental
information documented. Copies of one’s Baptismal,
First Communion, Confirmation and Marriage records
are required at various times in our life.
• A family that plans to enroll their children in either our
Parish School or Religious Education Program should
be registered parishioners who actively support the
parish, especially if they intend to have their children
receive the Sacraments of the Church in the near
future.
• A registered family is able to receive important
information about the parish that often comes through
a direct mailing.
• Sometimes a person is asked to serve as a godparent
for a relative or friend. They are required to provide
information stating that they are currently a registered
parishioner, practicing their faith and supporting the
overall life of their parish.
• Note that our Parish Mailing List is only used for
church purposes and never shared with businesses or
other organizations.

przywiД…zaliЕ›my siД™ do tego Е›wiata i zagnieЕєdziliЕ›my siД™
zbytnio w teraЕєniejszoЕ›ci. ZapomnieliЕ›my, Ејe ten Е›wiat
bД™dzie miaЕ‚ swГіj kres i Ејe nic nie pozostanie takie, jakie
jest. Adwent każe nam spojrzeć, wybiec w przyszłość. Jest
ona tak samo jak teraЕєniejszoЕ›Д‡ peЕ‚na i Е›wiatЕ‚a, i
ciemnoЕ›ci. Ale naszД… przyszЕ‚oЕ›ciД… jest Jezus Chrystus! On
jest Tym, ktГіry przyszedЕ‚ i ktГіry przyjdzie powtГіrnie; On
jest Tym, ktГіry nieustannie przychodzi. A chrzeЕ›cijanie
czekajД… na Jego dzieЕ„, Jego Adwent. Adwent to znaczy:
przyjЕ›cie, przyjЕ›cie Boga do czЕ‚owieka. BГіg wychodzi
nam naprzeciw: daje nam teraЕєniejszoЕ›Д‡, czas obecny
jako czas Е‚aski, jako drogД™ w przyszЕ‚oЕ›Д‡. "Ja jestem
drogД…" - mГіwi Jezus, ktГіry przez swoje narodzenie
wszedЕ‚ w naszД… rzeczywistoЕ›Д‡.
Adwent przypomina, Ејe chrzeЕ›cijanie to ludzie peЕ‚ni
wdziД™cznoЕ›ci i Е›wiД™tej niecierpliwoЕ›ci. Jak mГіwi Е›w.
Paweł, mamy być wdzięczni za dary Ducha: za wiarę i
nadziejД™ na "objawienie siД™ Pana naszego Jezusa
Chrystusa". Jego przyjЕ›cia winniЕ›my niecierpliwie
wyczekiwać, Jemu mamy wyjść naprzeciw, do Niego
wytrwale zdążać. A stopień naszej świętej niecierpliwości
November 30, 2014
zaleЕјy od wielkoЕ›ci naszej wiary i miЕ‚oЕ›ci. Ељwiadectwem
Adwent nawoЕ‚uje nas do czujnoЕ›ci: "UwaЕјajcie i
czuwajcie, bo nie wiecie, kiedy czas ten nadejdzie" mόwi dzisiejsza Ewangelia. Czuwać to znaczy: widzieć
jasno rzeczywistoЕ›Д‡, w ktГіrej Ејyjemy i rzeczywistoЕ›Д‡, ku
ktГіrej zmierzamy. Jest niД… Chrystus, ktГіry juЕј teraz
przebywa poЕ›rГіd nas w swoim sЕ‚owie, sakramencie i
drugiej osobie.
Adwent ogЕ‚asza, Ејe BГіg jest blisko, bardzo blisko. MoЕјna
się z Nim spotkać. My, ludzie, nie mamy żadnej miary,
którą moglibyśmy zmierzyć Jego niezmierzoność; nie
mamy rąk, które mogłyby Go uchwycić; nie dysponujemy
pojД™ciami, ktГіre mogЕ‚yby ujД…Д‡ Jego istotД™ i pomogЕ‚yby
nam Go pojąć. Ale On dał nam serce zdolne Go szukać i
znaleźć. Bóg jest blisko, choć w ukryciu.
RozpoczynajД…cy siД™ dziЕ› czas Adwentu wzywa nas do
powrotu na BoЕјe drogi, aЕјeby przychodzД…cy Pan nie
zastaЕ‚ nas zbЕ‚Д…kanych na bezdroЕјach, w ciemnych
zauЕ‚kach i Е›lepych uliczkach.
Czuwajmy wiД™c wytrwale na modlitwie, aby dokonaЕ‚a siД™
w nas przemiana serc, a z niej wyrosЕ‚o takie Ејycie, w
ktГіrym mimo trudnoЕ›ci, zniechД™cenia, rozczarowaЕ„ - w
głębi naszego serca – zawsze byli oddani Chrystusowi i w
czasie doЕ›wiadczeЕ„ znaleЕєli schronienie w rД™ku Boga.
