From our G.M.
Dan
Franz
General Manager
Somewhere under the snowpack,
Spring is on its way. These are the
days I personally have a countdown
going to the day when Blue Top Ridge
opens for business, which is why we
chose to feature the 12th hole on the
cover. Come join us for an early season round or two (or three) of championship golf and, while you are waiting,
enjoy all the wonderful indoor spaces
that our resort has to offer!
March and April are great months to
get down to Riverside and “Live It Up” -whether it is for the 2 for 1 buffets, our
annual Arts & Crafts show, the popular
Taste of Home cooking event or some
great entertainment (including a chance
for you “ladies of the 80’s” to win some
great prizes on the Show Lounge), a
getaway from those seemingly endless
days of winter is waiting for you here.
We can’t wait to see you!
Best Regards,
Dan

Slot myth! -
“Using my resort Club
card will cause me to lose!”
by Paul McCune, Slot Director
Many people are superstitious, especially when it comes to gambling on slot machines. Although it can seem at times that what people
believe to be true works out for them, it is most likely just luck on their side.
I thought I’d clear up one of the most popular superstitions regarding slot machines and the use of your Resort Club card. Think about
how many times you have thought about or heard the following perceptions. “If I put my Resort Club card in the machine, they’ll know
it’s me and it won’t pay out.” “I’ll just pull my card in and out a few times while I play so the
machine will hit more frequently.” “The guy below running all of the computers knows I’m here
and they’re going to make my machine not pay.” Be assured, this is entirely not true. In fact, a
slot machine paying out has nothing to do with your card or who you are. There is no one at the
controls of computers who decides when a machine will pay out or how much.
A Resort Club card is used to keep track of what you play in order for you to earn points, comp
dollars, rewards and incentives—including free slot play and entries into drawings. It is also
used to download free slot play onto the machines. Our player tracking system also allows you
to stream live television and participate in slot tournaments.
The reality is that you are actually missing out by not using your card and taking advantage
of what the casino has to offer for rewards. So be sure and use your card and take advantage
of the casino’s reward program. Rather than thinking it will hurt you, it’s actually helping you.
Be a winner! Use your card.

The power of massage
What if an hour massage did more for you than just take the pressures of the day away?
What if bodywork helped you recover from a strained hamstring in half the time? What
if your sleep, mood and skin all improved with massage and bodywork? What if…these
questions weren’t just “what ifs?”
Healers throughout time have developed a wide range of therapeutic techniques using
touch. We now have scientific proof of the benefits of massage, ranging from relieving stress
to aiding in muscle recovery.
Massage for Health:
• Stress Reduction: Massage reduces levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, which alleviates
anxiety and depression. Serotonin and dopamine hormones are released, leaving you in a
blissful post massage state.
• Immune System Enhancer: Massage increases disease-fighting white blood
cells and stimulates the flow of lymph, the body’s natural defense system.
• Skin Elasticity and Health: Massage increases blood flow, which plumps
up skin, encourages lymphatic drainage and adds vitality to a dull complexion.
• Pain Relief: Massage releases endorphins-the body’s natural painkiller-and
is being used in chronic illness, injury and recovery from surgery to control and
relieve pain.
• Muscle Recovery: Massage relaxes and softens injured and overused muscles
by elongating shortened muscle tissue. Improves range of motion and joint
flexibility.
Besides increasing relaxation and decreasing anxiety, massage lowers your blood
pressure, increases circulation, improves recovery from injury, helps you to sleep better
and can increase your concentration. It reduces fatigue and gives you more energy to
handle stressful situations.
Stop by or call The Spa for more information and to schedule your massage appointment.

Pam & Mel
Tillis
Friday, March 27 - 8pm
Country music legend, Mel Tillis, started
performing in the early 50’s with a group
called The Westerners while serving as a
baker in the United States Air Force. In
1956, Webb Pierce recorded a song
written by Mel entitled “I’m Tired”, and it
launched Mel’s musical career.
Mel has recorded more than 60 albums.
He has had thirty-six Top Ten singles, with
nine of them going to Number One “Good Woman Blues,” “Coca Cola Cowboy,” and “Southern Rain” to mention a
few. Mel is a member of the Grand Ole
Opry, the Nashville Songwriters International Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Mel Tillis has been in
the music/entertainment business now for
more than 50 years. He and his band, the
Statesiders, have worked concerts all over the United States, Canada, England, and around the world, and continue to do so.
Pam Tillis is a superstar as well as a survivor. A child of Music City royalty and a former rebel, she was determined to find her own way
as a singer and songwriter — and she succeeded. A CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, she has written songs for some of the top singers
in and beyond Nashville, including more than a few of her own hits such as “Maybe It Was Memphis”, “Shake the Sugar Tree” and “Mi
Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)”. She knows what it’s like to break the platinum barrier, to top the singles charts time and again, to bask in an
ovation at her induction as a member of the Grand Ole Opry or play in the intimate hush of the Bluebird Café. She has bathed in the lights
of Broadway, posed for glamour magazine spreads, sung ballads in Bay Area bistros, batted wicked one-liners back to Tom Bergeron on
Hollywood Squares, even made cameos in movies.
Tickets are $47, $37 & $27 plus tax and an online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is waived when tickets are purchased in the Gift Shop).

Gregg allman
Saturday, March 28 - 8pm
Gregg Allman is one of rock’s most acclaimed
and beloved icons. Gregg and his older brother
Duane shared a passion for music, hitting the road
with their band the Allman Joys (later known as the
Hour Glass).
In 1969, Gregg and Duane formed the Allman
Brothers Band, releasing such albums as The
Allman Brothers Band, Idlewild South and the
breakthrough 1971 live release At Fillmore East.
The Allman Brothers Band suffered a devastating
blow when Duane Allman was killed in a
motorcycle accident in October 1971. Despite
the loss of his brother, Gregg and his bandmates
rallied, driving to even greater success with the
albums Eat A Peach and Brothers and Sisters. In
1973, Gregg branched out into a solo career with
the well-received Laid Back.
Gregg has remained a dynamic and prolific
musical force, both with the Allman Brothers Band and as a solo artist. In the 1990’s and
in the years since, the Allman Brothers Band has maintained its position as America’s
foremost Southern rock band and rock’s greatest improvisational ensemble.
Tickets are $57, $47 & $37 plus tax and an online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is
waived when tickets are purchased in the Gift Shop). Tickets available in the Gift Shop
and online.

Saturday, April 25 - 8pm
Rodney Atkins, the East Tennessee native, has an
impressive track record with hitting on sentiments
that strike a chord with the country listener: he’s
had five number one hits from his first three albums,
from “Watching You” and “These Are My People”
to his most recent smash, “Farmer’s Daughter,”
(which quickly skyrocketed to platinum,) and he’s
sold over four million singles in the past five years
alone. His latest single, “Take A Back Road” is
on course to propel him to even bigger heights
with its irresistibly catchy chorus and easygoing,
windows-down, breezy summer vibe. The tune is
near platinum status just weeks after its release.
Tickets are $60, $45 & $30 plus tax and an online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is
waived when tickets are purchased in the Gift Shop). Tickets are on sale in the Gift
Shop and online.

As home cooks across the country head back to the kitchen to cook up spring’s flavorful dishes, the Taste of Home Cooking School is
preparing to share seasonal recipes that are certain to delight.

blue top ridge
The moment the weather breaks in April, Blue Top Ridge will be open and ready to play! To get you started playing, we are providing
you great spring rates that will run through the month of April. The practice facilities at Blue Top Ridge are second to none. We have
the largest bent grass practice areas in Iowa, featuring vast bent grass tees and multiple practice greens and sand bunkers. Start your
season off on the right track by taking advantage of our great spring golf and practice facility rates.
Riverside performance studio
We can all see spring in front of us. It is close and for many of us, it can’t get here soon enough! The Blue Top Ridge and Riverside
Performance Studio Golf Professional Staff are gearing up for a great 2015 golf season and we want to help you get ready and have
your best golf season ever. Each season our goal is to open the course the first weekend of April. As you know, that is truly determined by
Mother Nature. However, Mother Nature has limited influence on the Riverside Performance Studio. Our high tech teaching and fitting
facility is well-heated and ready to serve you and help make 2015 your best season yet. Our golf professionals have created a three
hour Performance Studio Package—buy two hours and get one free to help you get off to a great start in 2015. That is a minimum of
$100 in savings! You may use your three hours any way you and the professional of your choice see fit. Spend time on the V1 Digital
Video System analyzing your swing and working toward a better move to the target or spend time on the TrackMan launch-monitor.
TrackMan is the premier swing, club and ball analyzing tool used by almost every Tour Player. Based on Doppler radar and cameras,
you cannot hide issues with your swing from TrackMan or the V1 systems. The PGA Professionals at the Riverside Performance Studio
are ready to make this your best golf season yet!
Golf Tips from PGA Professional, Bryan Haas
Is It A Stretch For You To Play Better?
We have all been forced into our winter golf break in the Midwest. As we are waiting for spring to come, many of us start thinking
about how we played and performed this past summer. We remember a lot of good rounds and some rounds that could have been
better. Somehow, we all remember the one or two shots that killed our score. Many players assume they have a mental problem when
they lose their posture during a golf swing on pressure shots, but the problem may actually be a physical one. Physically, if a player
cannot touch their toes or complete an overhead deep squat, they are unable to regularly keep their posture during the golf swing. If
we add pressure to the shot, the player has even less of a chance to produce a good or adequate golf swing. Now is a great time to
fix your golf swing and there is no better way to get started than to start stretching. Before you start your exercises, please consult your
doctor or a trainer. Proper body movement and flexibility is the key to consistent posture and a good golf swing.

Culinary Classic 2015
April 19, 2015
The Culinary Classic is back for the 6th straight year in 2015…and with a brand “brew”
category! Last year, over 400 people sampled delicious dishes from 40 of the area’s
top chefs. The two hour event raised over $7,000 through ticket sales for the Golf For
Injured Veterans Everywhere Foundation and culminated with an awards ceremony
which featured $11,000 in prizes.
This year’s event will feature a Local Iowa Beer category.
Competing chefs will be tasked with incorporating local
Iowa beers into their recipes for a chance to win a $500
bonus prize. Along with the Local Iowa Beer Category,
other categories will include: Soup, Salad, Beef, Pork, Duck,
Seafood, Student and Dessert.
For more information about attending the event or competing in
the event, please visit www.riversidecasinoandresort.com. Tickets
