Dilek Ergül de bu hedefe göz koyan bir denizci ve başarırsa Atlantik Okyanusu’nu geçen ilk Türk kadını olarak tarihe geçecek. Ancak Ergül bu hedefi sadece kendisi için belirlememiş. Bu zor hedefi gerçekleştirirken bir yandan da dikkatleri Darüşşafaka’ya çekmek istiyor. Üstelik orada da bir hedef belirlemiş kendisine. Darüşşafaka’da okuyan 10 kız öğrencinin 10 yıllık eğitim gideri olan 1 milyon TL’yi toplamayı amaçlıyor. Bu büyük macera 8 haziranda başladı. Yolculuğun 2015 Ağustos'unda tamamlanması planlanıyor. SKYLIFE 2014 • KASIM | NOVEMBER A boat, a sailor and the Atlantic Ocean… Crossing the Atlantic solo is a goal to which many sailors have aspired but which few have realized. Dilek Ergül is one of those sailors, and if she succeeds, she will go down in history as the first Turkish woman to do so. But Ergül has not set this target for herself alone. As she realizes her challenging goal, she also wants to draw attention to the Darülşşafaka, an Istanbul secondary school for orphans dating back to Ottoman times. What’s more, she has set a target for herself there as well, aiming to collect a million Turkish Liras to cover the educational expenses of ten girl students at the school for a ten-year period. he great adventure got underway on June 8 and is expected to be completed by August 2015.
