Dear Colleagues,
There are almost 7 months left to TUSYAD Congress in 2014. There are less than 3 months to the
deadline of abstract submission.
The most valuable sessions of congresses are free paper sessions. Having a small number of viewers
in the meeting room does not change this fact. We should give the abstracts the value they deserve
for the sake of these two actions; “ to educate” and “to receive education”. I did not express these
terms as subjects but as verbs. A speaker in a panel discussion in a hall is going to move from its
position of teaching to a position of learning by listening to other speakers and joining other sessions.
I shall remind a well known quote by extending it; “learning has nothing to do with age, seniority or
title”. Similarly, a person – say a young colleague who is performing the action of “receiving
education” can become the “educator” in another session. That is to say that the individuals contain
both actions in themselves. There can be no distinction between trainers and trainees.
The main theme of my message is to encourage you to join oral and poster sessions more actively. As
an individual who is receiving education, you will have the opportunity to reach the most recent
knowledge by following the authentic researches presented in the free paper sessions. Our young
colleagues will find answer for their questions on how to conduct a study and how to prepare and
present a slideshow. On the other hand, as an “educating” individual, you will be contributing to the
education of both the presenters and audience by producing appropriate and constructive questions
and contributions. Besides this, you have the opportunity to increase your level of knowledge. This
way you feel the double joy of “educating” and “receiving education”.
It is important for poster presenters to know that their posters contribute a lot to educations of their
viewers. Paying attention they deserve to the poster presentations, our participant colleagues will
both learn more and at the same time encourage the authors for further studies by honoring their
work that has been conducted with great efforts.
Please do not leave the TUSYAD 2014 abstract submissions to the last minute.

Değerli Meslektaşlarım,
TUSYAD 2014 Kongresine yaklaşık 7 ay kaldı. Son bildiri özeti gönderme tarihine ise 3 aydan kısa bir süre var.
Serbest bildiri oturumları kongrelerin en değerli oturumlarıdır. Salondaki izleyici sayısının azlığı bu gerçeği değiştirmez.
”Eğitme” ve “eğitim alma” eylemleri adına bildirilere hak ettikleri değeri vermeliyiz. Bu kavramları özellikle özne değil, fiil
olarak kullandım. Bir salondaki panelde konuşmacı olan bir kişi, diğer konuşmacıları dinleyerek ve bir başka oturuma giderek
öğretmekten öğrenme durumuna geçmektedir. İyi bildiğimiz bir deyişi genişleterek anımsatmam gerekirse, öğrenmenin
yaşı, kıdemi ve ünvanı yoktur. Benzer şekilde bir salonda eğitim alma fiilini gerçekleştiren bir kişi -genç bir meslektaşımız
diyelim- , başka bir oturumda eğiten kişi olabilmektedir. Yani bireyler her iki fiili de içlerinde barındırmaktadır. Eğiticiler ve
eğitilenler diye bir ayrımdan sözedilemez.
Bu mesajımın ana teması sözel ve poster bildirileri oturumlarına daha çok katılma yönünde sizleri teşvik etmek olacaktır.
Eğitim alan bir birey olarak serbest bildiri oturumlarında özgün araştırmaları izleyerek en yeni bilgiye ulaşma olanağı
bulursunuz. Genç arkadaşlarımız çalışma nasıl yapılır, slayt nasıl hazırlanır ve sunulur gibi sorularına da yanıt bulacaklardır.
Öte yandan eğitim veren bir birey olarak yerinde, yapıcı soru ve katkılarla hem sunum yapanlara, hem izleyicilerin eğitimine
katkı sağlamış olursunuz. Bunun yanında öğrenerek bilgi düzeyinizi arttırma fırsatı bulursunuz. Böylece eğitme ve eğitim
almanın çifte mutluluğunu hissedersiniz.
Poster sunumlarının sözel sunumlardan daha az değerli olmadıklarını vurgulamak ve anımsatmak isterim. Poster
sunumlarını sergileyen meslektaşlarımızın, posterlerinin izleyenlerin eğitimine önemli katkı sağladığını bilmelerinde yarar
vardır. Katılımcı meslektaşlarımız posterlere hak ettikleri ilgiyi göstererek hem daha çok öğrenecekler, hem de emek verilen
çalışmaları onurlandırarak yazarları ileriki çalışmaları için cesaretlendirmiş olacaklardır.
