Brief CV :
Riccardo Bertacco is Associate Professor at the Physics Department of Politecnico di Milano,
where he leads the Nanobiotechnology and Spintronics group of the LNESS center
(http://lness.como.polimi.it). His research activity is focused on nanomagnetism, spintronics and
applications of nanotechnology to biology and medicine. He is currently coordinating 4 granted
projects and negotiating the licensing of two patents. He is in charge of the realization of a new
clean-room (PoliFab, 400m2) for micro and nanofabrication at Politecnico di Milano.
He is author of about 100 papers in international journals, a chapter of a book and 6 patent
applications. Current H index: 18 (Scopus). Member of the scientific committee of three
conferences (MAGNET, SuperFOx, CIMTEC), he has been the chair of the first edition of SuperFOx
held in Como in June 2012. He gives annual courses of classical physics, an advanced course on
"Magnetic nanostructures" and lectures in PhD schools.
Field of Expertise:
Surface science, electron spectroscopy, thin films growth, micro and nano-fabrication,
nanomagnetism, spintronics, nanobiotechnology.
Lecture Title:
