Intanto all’Archivio di Stato di Firenze, continua la catalogazione e digitalizzazione delle decine di migliaia di documenti che compongono il fondo. Il lavoro dovrebbe concludersi il prossimo anno. The move of the Archive to a new location on Via della Pergola, in the heart of Florence, coincided with two major exhibitions that included materials from its collection. The first exhibition, The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014 held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, pays tribute to Italian style from the post WWII years to the present. One of the rooms is entirely dedicated to the runway shows held in the Sala Bianca and to Giovan Battista Giorgini who initially organized them. The exhibition was inaugurated in April 2014 with a lavish dinner for over 300 guests, among them, celebrities and fashion industry representatives. The exhibition is now touring the United States. The first stop is the Minneapolis Art Institute (October 26, 2014 to January 4, 2015). The exhibition will then move to the Portland Art Museum (February 7 to May 3, 2015) and finally, to the First Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville (June 5 to September 7, 2015). Italy and High Fashion 1945-1968 (December 2, 2014 to May 3, 2015). Combining fashion, cinema and photography of the Fifties and Sixties, this exhibition builds a connection with contemporary art. The material of the Giorgini Archive recreated the period atmosphere, an example of which are the two maxi posters on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum. It also highlights how complex it was to organize events that included not only runway shows, but also an accessory fair and a wealth of related activities. Currently, the State Archives in Florence are continuing to catalogue and digitize the thousands of documents that are part of the Giorgini Archive. The work should be finished by next year. The Giorgini Archive can be visited by appointment to consult magazines, books, catalogues, photographs, and videos. Il trasferimento nella nuova sede di via della Pergola, nel cuore della città, ha coinciso infatti con due grandi mostre che presentano tra l’altro materiali della nostra raccolta. La prima è The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014, al Victoria & Albert Museum di Londra. Prestigioso riconoscimento al successo dello stile italiano dal dopoguerra a oggi, con una sala interamente dedicata alle sfilate in Sala Bianca e a G.B. Giorgini che ne fu l’ideatore. Inaugurata lo scorso aprile con una fastosa cena per oltre 300 invitati del fashion e star system, la mostra è ora in tour negli Stati Uniti. Prima tappa al Minneapolis Art Institute, dal 26 ottobre al 4 gennaio 2015. Poi sarà la volta di Portland (07/02 - 03/05 2015) e Nashville (05/06 - 07/09 2015). Molti documenti provenienti dall’Archivio (inviti, programmi, lettere, ecc.) saranno anche al MAXXI di Roma, all’interno dell’esibizione Bellissima. L’Italia dell’alta moda 19451968 (dal 2.12.2014, al 3.5.2015). Un percorso che mescola moda, cinema, fotografia degli anni ’50 e ‘60 per farli dialogare con l’arte contemporanea.
