Piano d’Attività CICU 2014
Nell’anno 2014 il Comitato Italiano Città Unite sarà prevalentemente impegnato
nell’attuazione delle seguenti azioni:

animazione e lancio di nuove proposte progettuali di cooperazione decentrata,
promosse da collettività locali italiane e del Sud del mondo e focalizzate
nell’area del Mediterraneo e nei paesi africani;
informazione e partecipazione ad eventi internazionali di interesse per gli Enti
Locali e Regioni, come segnalati nell’Agenda Internazionale;
organizzazione di un evento di sensibilizzazione a Milano in occasione della
Giornata Mondiale contro lo sfruttamento del lavoro minorile indetta
dall’Organizzazione Internazionale del Lavoro (ILO), in linea con l’impegno
intrapreso nel 2013 nell’ambito del progetto “Giovani in Azione”;
promozione del decentramento amministrativo e delle democrazie locali e
studio di nuove proposte e strategie atte al suo rafforzamento nel mondo;
organizzazione dell’Assemblea Congressuale di CICU.

Nel primo semestre del 2014 CICU si sta dedicando all’elaborazione di nuove proposte di progetto in risposta a inviti a
presentare proposte indetti dalla Commissione Europea.

Focus sull’Agenda Internazionale
L’agenda degli incontri internazionali per il 2014 é molto fitta e CICU cercherà di impegnarsi a seguire maggiormente
l’attività delle varie Commissioni di lavoro della CGLU di cui è membro, così come le iniziative di interesse per gli associati
italiani.

The Summit It will also mark the 20th anniversary of the CoR.

The final event of the 2013 WSC Amsterdam Program will be the World City Forum in Amsterdam,
12-14 March, 2014. A new and different event, similar to the World Economic Forum in Davos. It will
be the first single, global premier CITY event that joins the public and private interests. Each Partner
City and Founding Member will be an exclusive partner.

The Seventh session of the World Urban Forum will be held in Medellin, Colombia from 5 to 11 April
2014 with the focus on the overall theme “Urban Equity in Development – Cities for Life”. This
particular session of the Forum will be strategically instrumental to influence the concurrent global
processes of Post 2015 Development Agenda redefining the sustainable development goals and the
upcoming review of the global urban agenda in Habitat III in 2016.

The Hague Academy for Local Government has announced it will organise a training course on
Peacebuilding and Local Governance from 12 to 23 May 2014 Barcelona, Spain. The course is
designed for staff of bilateral donors, multilateral agencies and NGOs, and civil servants working for
ministries and local governments, who wish to be well-informed about the local dimensions of
peacebuilding in fragile states.
Organisé depuis 2011, le WHRCF est une rencontre annuelle des principaux acteurs engagés dans
la construction des villes des droits humains (gouvernements locaux, expert-e-s, agences des
Nations Unies, professionnels, etc.). Le forum a pour objectif de mettre en application le concept de
« Ville de droits humains » tel qu’il a été défini dans la Déclaration de Gwangju, adoptée lors du 1er
WHRCF.

new political structure of the CEMR, notably, its new President, Annemaire Jorritsma, Mayor of
Almere (Netherlands) and President of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG).
Members of the Policy Committee voted, with a narrow majority, to hold the next General Assembly,
in 2016, in Nicosie (Cyprus). This event takes place every four years and is the largest gathering of
European cities, municipalities and regions.

The news is out - the location of our next New Cities Summit will be Dallas, Texas. Our Chairman,
John Rossant, and Mayor Mike Rawlings of Dallas made the announcement during the New Cities
Summit in São Paulo last month. Mayor Rawlings, who spoke in the 'Play' plenary session at this
year's Summit, was accompanied on his trip to São Paulo by agroup of leading Texan business
leaders and innovators. They joined us to celebrate the news.

The policy cycle of cohesion policy suggests that due to the launch of the 320+ national, regional and
territorial cooperation programmes in 2014, first experiences with their implementation may be at the
forefront of debates during the 12th European Week of Regions and Cities. Moreover, the event will
be held a few months after closing the public consultation on the European Commission's 'Sixth
Report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion' and the related 'Sixth Cohesion Forum' (May
2014).
The thematic priorities
The OPEN DAYS 2014 will be held under the slogan 'Growing together – Smart investment for
people', with workshops addressing one of the following themes:
Connecting regional strategies: smart specialisation, digital agenda, SME support, low-carbon
economy (supported by the ERDF), training and social inclusion (supported by the ESF); urban
dimension.
Building capacity: new features and instruments in programme management (financial engineering,
performance framework evaluation, partnership arrangements).
Territorial cooperation: the new generation of pan-European programmes (INTERREG, URBACT,
ESPON, INTERACT); international cooperation.

Con el lema "La Ciudad Educadora es una ciudad que incluye" este XIII Congreso tendrá lugar en
Barcelona del 13 al 15 de noviembre de 2014.

Focus sulla Giornata Mondiale contro lo sfruttamento del lavoro minorile
La Giornata Mondiale contro lo sfruttamento del lavoro minorile, indetta dall’Organizzazione Internazionale del Lavoro (ILO), si
celebra ogni anno il 12 giugno. In vista di tale ricorrenza, l’ILO, CICU, il Comune di Milano e MED (Associazione Italiana
per l’Educazione ai Media e alla Comunicazione) organizzano l’evento “La musica dei giovani contro lo sfruttamento
del lavoro dei minori”, in cui le scuole Suzuki, dirette dal maestro Antonio Mosca, si esibiranno in un concerto in difesa
dei diritti dei minori vittima dello sfruttamento.
L’iniziativa si terrà in data 10 giugno, dalle ore 15.00 alle 20.00, presso la Palazzina Liberty, nel Parco Formentano Milano. Save the date!
