WESTERN UNION’S TEN OUTSTANDING MARITIME
STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES
Out of 44 individual nominations from different Maritime Higher Education Institutions
nationwide, Midn 1CL Mark Kelvin Abarado of Bohol (Class 2016), Midn 1cl Juelle Jade Espiritu
of City of Manila (Class 2017), and 2cl Andre’Chad Acosta of Makati City (Class 2018) made it to
be awardees of Western Union’s Ten Outstanding Maritime Students for 2016. All nominees
have undergone Panel Interviews, Written Examinations, and an Essay Writing Evaluation on
top of their achievement records and documentation. Midn 1cl Juelle Jade Espiritu was also
awarded as the best essay and project proposal for the Chains of Better Program of the
Western Union Foundation. Since 2011, nominations of MAAP cadets belong to the top 10
awardees annually.
