Guide to Labeling Scott Products
PRODUCT SERIAL NUMBER LABELS
Scott Plus is used to serialize products and subassemblies that need new labels. Service centers
should place product serial number labels (or barcode labels) on product subassemblies and enter
serial number information into Scott Plus to track specific product warranty details.

When is a serial number label required?
Apply serial number labels to product subassemblies listed in the Scott Plus product
serialization tree (see a view of the serialization tree below). Do not serialize products not
listed in the product serialization tree.
You can access the product serialization tree while entering products on the Scott Plus
Warranty Products tab.
Product Serialization Tree
Apply the correct serial number label when this occurs:
•
You are repairing a product that has an unreadable serial number.
•
You are repairing a subassembly that requires a label but no label is on the
subassembly.
NOTE: A part number label (P/N) is not always the same as a serial number label. If
you see a P/N label only, apply a replacement serial number label. Do not cover up the
part number label.
When performing service, be sure to place a serial number label on the following products and
subassemblies, to which Scott Safety began to add labels in 2012:
-
AV-2000 Facepiece
AV-3000 Facepiece

Where do I place serial number labels on products?
Place serial number labels as close to the locations indicated in the sections below without
covering any other labels.
Facepieces (AV-2000 & AV-3000)
Lower left corner, inside mask (when mask
is oriented as if preparing for donning)
Need a manufacture date for facepieces? See below.
AV-2000
The manufacture date is indicated on a label or a manufacture stamp in the facepiece seal. Three (3)
examples are shown above. Example 1 is a label indicating the manufacture date. Example 2 shows
a stamp with two dots within the “08” segment – the dots indicate the quarter; it is a facepiece
manufactured in the second quarter of 2008. Use the last day of the second quarter – in this example,
the manufacture date is June 30, 2008. Example 3 shows a stamp that indicates a manufacture date
of October 2012. Use the last day of October – in this example, the manufacture date is October 31,
2012.

Which serial number do I enter in Scott Plus for subassemblies and parts other than the
reducer?
Do not enter the reducer serial number in Scott Plus for warranty claims on subassemblies or parts
that are not the reducer.
Find the subassembly you are repairing in the table below. The middle column shows which serial
number you should scan or enter in the Product Serial field in Scott Plus*. The third column shows
the warranty policy that applies to the subassembly or part.
*If you do not see a serial number label on the subassembly,
apply a label and serialize the subassembly in Scott Plus.

I need a date of manufacture. How do I use the serial number to determine the date of
manufacture?
The table below lists the different types of serial numbers you may see on subassemblies. The
second column indicates how to determine the date of manufacture from the serial number.

E – Month A-M, excluding the letter ‘I’
03 – two-digit year
May 2003
