An infrared (IR) sensor emits and detects IR radiation to measure heat and detect
motion. These IR sensors can be broadly classified as passive IR (PIR) sensors and
active IR (AIR) sensors. PIR sensors only measure IR radiation, while AIR sensors
measure and emit IR radiations.
