Beit Hall: Introduction
Brief History of Beit Hall
 Building of Beit Hall funded by Sir
Otto Beit director of the governing
body of Imperial College 1912-1930.
 Initially it was a faculty building
housing Biology and later converted
to a student Hall.
 Renovated to its present state in
2001.
 Currently one of the largest Halls of
Imperial College providing selfcatering accommodation to 340
students.

 Please keep noise down in
rooms and kitchens from
11:00 pm till 8:00 am.

Drugs and smoking
• No illegal drugs. The College has a zero
tolerance policy on drug use and possession
• Disciplinary action, may lead to expulsion from
Imperial
• No smoking in Hall
• No electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) in Hall
Drinking in the Quad
• The direction from the college is that when
in the Beit central quadrangle one can only
drink alcohol purchased from the Union Bar
• Alcohol purchased from elsewhere can only
be consumed indoors (eg. Beit Hall common
room)
Health and Safety issues
Fire alarms
• Loud high-pitched siren,
• Often false alarms, sometimes real fires
• Every resident must evacuate
• Use nearest exit, gather in Beit Quad
• Do not use the lift
• Do not re-enter the building until told to do so
Also
• Let a warden know if you have difficulty hearing the alarm or
evacuating the building quickly
• Find out today where your nearest exits are

Vaccination:
Only for first year undergraduates under age 25
New vaccine (A,C,W,Y) replaces previous Men C vaccine
Single vaccine available from the Health Centre for first year UGs only
who have not been vaccinated before arrival at Imperial and for those
who have only had Men C before
Clinics running now until the end of October.
