Course Objective:
Objectives of this course are: To introduce the students stoickiometry, mass balance in
metallurgical processes, first law of thermodynamic, fuels and combustion, and energy
balance in technological problems. Have a first hand experience about the topics of
these systems through laboratory experiments and semester projects.
Learning Outcomes:

To describe terms such system, surroundings, their properties, measurement units,
behaviours of gases and vapors, and smelting processes
2
To perform stoickiometric calculations in blast furnaces, copper and aluminum
smelting and basic oxygen processes and to describe fundamentals of modeling and
simulation in metalurgical processes
3
To perform mass and energy balance in basic and complex systems using
stoickiometric and first law of thermodynamic and thermodynamic rules
4
To understand energy sources using in metallurgical processes, types of fuel,
calorific powers and combustion phenomena
5
To make mass and energy balance in blast furnace, copper, zinc and aluminum
smelting processes
6
To present
