GPVC2014 & ISP2014
Nov. 10 ~11th, 2014, Busan, Korea
th
Welcome Address
I am very honored and pleased to be chair of the 4th Global Photovoltaic Conference
(GPVC 2014) and International Symposium on PV (ISP) which will be held at BEXCO,
Busan in Korea through Nov. 10th and 11th, 2014. Based on the accumulated
experience and success of previous GPVC’s, we the organizing committee took lead
to improve GPVC 2014 further this year, ensuring a good and high quality
presentation on the various solar cell topics. It is my duty to mention that this event
is the second time supported by Korean Photovoltaic Society (KPS) which was
th
founded on 16 October 2012. During the 1st GPVC in 2011, 378 papers were presented with more than
700 participants from 10 countries. The presented papers were increased to 424 and 450 at the 2nd and
3rd GPVC’s, which reflects its importance. Hence, GPVC is now believed to contribute strongly to
photovoltaic society in and out of Korea.
The current photovoltaic market does not seem to be in good shape because of multiple difficulties from
raw material and cell over-supply to the global economy status. However, the global market share will
be over 60 GW soon and it is expected to grow rapidly in coming years. A challenging and stable growth
in photovoltaic market is expected to dependent on two key concepts; high efficiencies at low cost in large
volumes. Reduction in material consumption and the use of low-cost materials at cell and module level
while maintaining the high efficiency, adopting new technologies and good reliability will be the key to
reaching this goal. The Korean photovoltaic society has experienced a vast growth and also shrinkage
during last several years. GPVC 2014 will try to provide gathering together all the photovoltaic specialists,
offering analysis how to meet new challenges, sharing the advanced photovoltaic technologies and
providing the active discussion for new technologies to secure the competitiveness in the international
photovoltaic market.
GPVC 2014 contributed manuscript all over the world will be connected to the SCI and SCIE journals such
as Int. J. Photoenergy (SCIE), JKPS(SCI), JOSK(SCIE) and Current Photovoltaic Research. Other journal
connection efforts are on-going for the journals such as IEEE JV, Israel Journal of Chemistry (SCI IF~3.05),
Synthetic Metals (IF~2.2), Journal of Nanoscience and Technology (IF~1.5), and Electronic Materials
Letter(IF3.0). I am sure that GPVC 2014 can be the global leader in photovoltaic community through its interest and active
participation of photovoltaic specialists groups and interested people from various Research centers,
universities and industries. The organizing and scientific committee board will set up a high-quality program
based on abstracts submitted from all over the world, and will create an inspiring atmosphere to stimulate
the exchange of scientific and technological information between you and your colleagues and make GPVC
2014 successful. Thank you.
Prof. Junsin Yi
General Chair of GPVC 2014
Global Photovoltaic Conference 2014 (GPVC 2014)
International Symposium on Photovoltaics (ISP 2014)
Foreword
As Program Chairman, it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to the 4th Global
Photovoltaic Conference (GPVC 2014) in Busan, Korea. Photovoltaic power
generation is the most significant and excellent source known for its unlimited and
clean energy. However, despite consistent research and development, the
photovoltaic market continues to grapple with oversupply and other challenges since
the recent global economic turmoil. I believe GPVC 2014 will provide an opportunity
to create a breakthrough by sharing information between scientists and engineers.
GPVC 2014 provides a well-organized program bringing more than 440 papers contributed by renowned
academic and research members from all around the world. It reflects not only growing involvement in
photovoltaic research and development activities but consistent and in-depth movement toward
development of the photovoltaic industry and market. The conference discusses various research fields
from crystalline silicon solar cells, dye-sensitized solar cells, novel materials and devices, organic
photovoltaics, III-V solar cells, CIGS and II-VI solar cells, amorphous and nano/microcrystalline silicon
based solar cells and applications, and module and system integration. The conference also provides
International Symposium, Photovoltaic Industry Forum, and Workshop for Reliability and Standardization.
They show the current trend in photovoltaic technology development and challenges for future development.
I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to all the committees and committee members for their
relentless cooperation in constructing the program. Without their devotion and enthusiasm, we could not
have more successful and informative programs in the conference. I would also like to express my sincerest
appreciation to all the invited and contributed speakers since their collaborations are indispensable for
the success of the conference. I am truly honored and pleased to be the Program Chairman of the
conference. I hope the conference will be fruitful and inspiring for all the participants and for the future
of photovoltaic industry and serve as the successful and leading platform for the next generation of the
photovoltaic community. Lastly, please enjoy your stay in Busan where it is a great port city with beautiful
sightseeing sites such as Haewoondae beach, and great local sea food.
