Geographically, the Niagara Region covers 715 square miles (1852 square kilometres) and has a population of 427,421 (2006 Statistics Census). Regional Council normally meets every third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber, Regional Municipal Building, 2201 St. David's Road, Thorold, Ontario. The meetings are open to the public.
