FFD 102 ART AND DESIGN STUDIO II spring 2013/14 “Memorabilia” for Mimar Sinan Ex_01a (SW): February 24, 14.30 Make something taking inspiration from Mimar Sinan. Use the existing image of Mimar Sinan on your mind. This is a quick exercise that you will focus on form making, not researching. Use only paper of the same kind. No hard material such as corrugated cardboard, foam board, cartridge paper, etc. No instruments and adhesives, use your hands only. Lecture on Mimar Sinan by Halil İbrahim Alpaslan (16.00) Ex_01b (HW): February 27, 14.00 Prepare an inspiration/introduction board for Mimar Sinan within the boundaries of 50x70 cm visual filed. Be sure that it is NOT a standard type of a “presentation board”, but a means to reflect your personal impression. It should include both visuals and texts. Read the competition document on the official web site; decide on the material to produce the “memorabilia” (anı objesi). Bring the appropriate material to start working in class. You may either work with the actual material or use another one that simulates it best. Go shopping in groups of 3-4 people and try finding materials with different qualities; you can share and/or may discover new dimensions and change your mind. Take the differences during the process of production into consideration along with the physical properties of the selected materials. Ex_01c (SW): February 27th, 17.00 Start working on the production of the “memorabilia” (anı objesi). You are expected to make the draft model after making a series of drawings. In the meantime you may reconsider the behavior of different materials and give your final decision. The final submission both for the studio and for the competition is March 10th, 2014. You are expected to follow the instructions for the competition and work on the project. 1 Ex_01d (HW): March 3rd, 13.00 Make a draft model of your project. Ex_01e (SW): March 3rd, 17.00 Improve your work in contact with your tutors. Ex_01f (SW): March 6th, 14.00 Finalize the model and start working on the images/drawing to be submitted for the competition. Ex_01g (SW): March 6th, 17.00 Finalize the two-dimensional presentation board. Ex_01g (SW): March 10th, 13.00 You will submit the model and a copy of the presentation board for FFD 102 course. It is optional to take part in the competition, so you need to prepare another copy of the presentation board. You will receive extra credits for the course on the occasion of getting an award in the competition. 2
