A position to attend a three year PhD program in “Inflammation, Immunity and Cancer” is
available at the University of Verona, Italy. This is a new doctorate course with the purpose to well
prepare the future candidates to be ready not only to utilize the most updated methodologies, but
also to perceive the pathological processes and the mechanisms underlying the specific
functionality and involvement of the various cell types in a unifying vision covering inflammation,

In particular, the applicant will be involved in a study aimed to investigate the role of human
and mouse neutrophils in inflammation and cancer. We are indeed investigating the role of
neutrophils in cancer progression, by utilizing either mouse models of disease or human
neutrophils isolated from patients with cancer. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic
candidates, preferably with background in Immunology, Biochemistry or related fields. Some
research experience in cell isolation, tissue culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology and/or
experience in laboratory mice utilization methodologies are preferred. Basic English verbal and
written communication skills are required.
