ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Francesca holds a degree in Education and a Master´s degree in “Theories and methodologies of e-learning
and media education” from the University of Padova.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
She has been a primary school teacher for more than 20 years; she has been in charge for self-assessment
of her School Institute, and collaborator of the head teacher within her institution.
Her teaching has developed with the support and use of digital technologies.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Her research interests are focused on the relationship between teaching and Web-Information and
Communication Technologies. Her current research is related to the needs of an open university, with the
help of ICT and Web Technologies, to subjects usually cut out from Higher Education and explores the
promises of innovative digital formats in teaching and learning in order to improve social participation and
the collaborative construction of knowledge.
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Before starting her PhD, she worked at a primary school taking part in several European experiences and
projects. She has collaborated in Comenius projects with colleagues from Denmark, Austria and England as
partners. She was a visiting student at the Finnish national Board of Education in order to observe the school
and the assessment system.
