The theme of this PhD course is the study of a wide range of
environmental phenomena, the potential risks associated with them and the
methods for their mitigation. The topic is highly interdisciplinary and
requires the convergence of tools and expertise from different scientific
fields and disciplines. Starting from the climate, understood as a complex
of phenomena at multiple scales that develop within atmosphere,
hydrosphere, cryosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, it will focus on the effects
of the phenomena in terms of individual potential negative fallout on
people and production capacity, as well as on the hazard assessment, on
the vulnerability of the elements at risk, on possible integrated strategies
for mitigation.
Topics of basic and applied research in the fields of oceanography,
meteorology, climatology, geology, environmental biology and ecology
will therefore be considered, as well as their interactions in cases of
environmental pollution, hydro-geological risk and similar issues; they
will be joined by disciplines more directly related to the assessment and
mitigation of risk, such as maritime and hydraulic engineering,
geotechnical and structural engineering and geomatics, together with
issues related to the methods of experimental investigation, monitoring
and control of the territory .
All above disciplines will provide the scientific and technical knowledge
necessary to design actions to mitigate the most serious natural hazards,
both with structural protection and soil conservation, and using nonstructural measures for improving the security of land and of land-based
activities.
The PhD program is intended to train professionals capable of being
competitive in research (universities, research institutes, public and
private) and employment market (Public Administration, Science and
Technology Parks, Research Consortia, National Agencies and Regional
Authorities for the Environment, River Basin Authorities, small and
medium-sized enterprises, etc ...) at national and international level.
To ensure maximum adaptability to the variety of profiles required in
the labor market we will promote the ability to work in teams, the

all’area giuridico-istituzionale ed economico-aziendale.

Annex A- PhD Courses
sociologia. In particolare, l’attività e i campi di ricerca è rappresentata dalle
seguenti macro-aree: istituzioni, organizzazioni e scelte pubbliche;
organizzazioni economiche e corporate governance; concorrenza,
regolazione e antitrust; regolazione e organizzazioni internazionali;
1) la crisi d’impresa;
tema di conflitti generazionali e quelle relative agli orientamenti sessuali;
parlamentari, giudiziarie ed economiche;
4) i problemi socio-economici e politico-istituzionali legati all’esperienza
storica e all’attualità dell’Italia;
sovranazionali e internazionali;

The curriculum aims at training high profile researchers who, at the
end of the course, will be able to access the international job market.
The objective is to train experts who will be specialised in
performing analyses both at micro and macro level in the area of
Economics. At the end of the postgraduate course, students will be
able to carry out research autonomously and will have acquired the
necessary skills to be employed in research centres, in policy
oriented institutions, or in private firms.
The most recent theory has emphasised the role that institutions play
in determining economic growth and in explaining the differentials
in the degrees of development between countries. Factors such as the
forms of the Government, market structure, the regulatory system,
and, more generally the working of the markets may all affect the
return on investment and in turn the implementation of new
technologies and the rate of development. Financial markets and

institutions can be certainly added to the most relevant institutional
factors which influence firms’ and economy wide economic
development. Hence, in order to fully understand the determinant of
firms’ strategic decisions such as the level of investment in R&D or
the level of involvement in foreign markets, and in turn aggregate
investments, one has to study the working of financial markets as
well as other factors. By exploiting the strong expertise in this field
within the Department and the cooperation with some partner
institutions such as Ente Einaudi per l’Economia e Finanza (EIEF),
the Centro di ricerca di Portici e the CNR’s Istituto di Studi sulle
Società del Mediterraneo, this curriculum will indeed offer the
possibility to study in depth the working of Financial Markets and
Institutions.

conoscenza quantitativa (statistico-econometrica) e qualitativa.
declinano rispetto l’analisi dell’evasione fiscale, dell’economia sommersa
legami economici, sociali e ambientali.

The PhD course aims to highlight the role played by European languages
and specialized terminologies in the field of law and economics, with
particular reference to the technical vocabulary pertaining to each subject.
The development of a language can be evaluated through the evolution of
its vocabulary, since the emergence of new realities/concepts entails the
creation of linguistic tools suited to more and more composite types of
texts.
The doctoral course thus foster a specialized study of European languages,
with the objective of designing and promoting international linguistic
policies through the creation of innovative terminological products in the
field of technical and scientific communication.
In particular, the PhD course aims to: develop the research on foreign
languages in a diachronic perspective; carry out monolingual and/or
multilingual studies in relevant legal and economic sectors; further the
knowledge of the application sector and provide the terminological skills
necessary to train experts in the field.
