Co-‐funded by the European Union KING – Knowledge for Integration Governance Co-‐funded by European Commission Directorate-‐General Home Affairs under the Action HOME/2012-‐2013/EIFX/CA/CFP/4000004268 WORKSHOP Integration Policies through the lens of the Common Basic Principles on Integration. New perspectives from KING research Milan, 6 -‐ 7 February 2014 Practical information for participants Introduction The KING project’s goal is to elaborate a report on immigrant integration in Europe through an interdisciplinary approach. As the Stockholm Programme is coming to an end, the purpose is to offer a state of play of migrant integration in order to better consider future options for policy-‐making supported by an evidence-‐based analysis. Specifically, KINGI explores whether and how migrants and their successful integration into the receiving countries’ societies can be an important contribution to EU economic and social development. KING research is truly comprehensive, as it addresses the full range of positive and negative effects of integration governance, learning from successes and failures, deepening our knowledge about well and poorly-‐managed integration. The project is organized in 8 phases: 1. Framing the project aims and contents (October 2013) 2. Desk research (November-‐December 2013) 3. Workshop and Draft of proposals (January-‐February 2014) 4. Empirical qualitative deepenings (group interviews) (April-‐May 2014) 5. Writing the Report (executive summary and Draft Report) (July-‐ September 2014) 1 6. Presentation of the Executive summary at 2014 International Metropolis Conference (3-‐7 November 2014) 7. Final Report elaboration (November-‐December 2014) 8. Dissemination (January-‐March 2015) The workshop Integration Policies through the lens of Common Basic Principles on Integration.
