Mario Fratti was 15 years old when nine of his partisan friends were murdered by the fascist regime, in his home town of L’Aquila. “Diario Proibito” is a homage to political commitment, and first-hand memoirs of World War II. MARIO FRATTI, playwright, actor, and drama critic, is a well known figure on the literary and theatrical scene in the US. Several of his 91 plays have been translated and performed in 19 languages and have granted him many Awards. She has been performing since she was a child. At the age of 8 during a concert she met the Director of the Conservatory of Messina who really encouraged her to study music at the Conservatory. Cettina graduated in Classical Piano, Jazz Piano and in Musical Didactic. She also studied Classical Composition. She graduated in Social Psychology from the University of Messina and she obtained two Masters in Special Didactic. Due to her strong skills in playing all styles of music she listened by ear, Cettina not only plays classical music but pop and jazz as well. Since retiring Dr. Lorch has devoted herself to writing a semi-fictionalized memoir of her roots in the Austro-Italian Alps, her experience of the resistance in Fascist controlled Italy, her immigration to the United States as a war bride, and her subsequent development as an academic humanist, an entrepreneur, and a wife and a mother of three daughters. Her memoirs form a trilogy, of which Beyond Gibraltar is the second volume. The first book, Mamma in her Village, was published in 2005 by Ryder and Finn. Dr. Lorch is currently working on the third volume The Other Shore. Zanzotto’s poetry has registered the profound social and cultural changes that have transformed postwar Italy. Patrick Barron teaches at the University of Massachusetts. He has received awards from the Academy of American Poets, the American Academy in Rome, the Fulbright Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His entire lifetime as a scholar was devoted to researching the presence of Jews in Southern Italy, from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages. Fabrizio Lelli teaches Hebrew Language and Literature at the University of Salento and is presently a fellow at the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies in Philadelphia. Mauro Perani is professor of Hebrew at the University of Bologna, Italy. He is credited as having discovered the oldest known complete Torah scroll, dating from 1155-1225, kept at the University of Bologna.
