Dear AIS Families,
Greetings and welcome to Aichi International
School for the 2014-2015 school year!
We are very excited to get the school year
started and meet with all the new and
returning families this coming April. The
kindergarten years are very important years in
your child’s development. Many changes,
academically, physically, emotionally and
socially are taking place during these early
stages of your child’s development. We as
teachers, staff and administration are very
excited to be a part of this special and
memorable time in your child’s life. Thank you
for the opportunity and great privilege of
working with you and your family through their
journey as kindergarteners. In addition, thank
you in advance for your kind support.
In order that AIS teachers, staff and parents
have a more clear understanding of school
procedures and rules, as well as open
communication, we ask that all families
carefully look over the contents of this
Kindergarten Handbook at the beginning of the
school year and refer to it throughout the year
as well. This handbook is a guide for AIS
procedures and rules covering topics from
school hours to birthday parties. Should you
have any concerns or questions that are not
addressed in this book, please feel free to
contact AIS at anytime. Thank you and I look

２０１4 年度、AIS に関わる全ての皆様へのご
挨拶。
さて、AIS では新年度が始まり、新しい子ど
も達や教職員を迎え、新鮮な気持ちで、新年
度を開始致します。新しい職員も含め私ども
は、新年度を迎える事を楽しみしています。
この時期が子どもの成長においてとても大切
な時期になります。子どもの発達初期は学問、
身体、または感情的に多くの変化が見られま
す。教職員、スタッフ一同、お子様のこのよ
うなすばらしい時期に携わることができ、う
れしく思います。このような機会を与えて頂
きありがとうございます。また、保護者の皆
様には、予めご理解ご協力を賜りますように
お願い申し上げます。
この手引きには、保育時間や誕生会など園の
流れやルールについて詳細が書かれています。
必ず、一度熟読し、参照下さい。なお、園行
事や方針等についてご質問がございましたら、
ご遠慮なくご連絡下さい。すばらしい一年を
一緒に過ごせることを楽しみにしています。

Hours of
Operation
AIS is open from 8am to 5pm Monday thru
Friday. The scheduled drop-off and pick-up
times for each class are as shown below:
保育時間について
AIS は朝 8 時から開門し、基本的に夕方 5 時で

minutes is charged for children arriving before
their scheduled time.
After-Care is also available until 5pm for a fee
of 1,296 yen per hour or 324 yen per 15 minute

クラスの登園時間より早く登園する場合、早朝
保育料金（15 分 324 円）がかかります。
延長保育は午後 5 時までご利用頂けます。料金
は 15 分毎に 324 円
1 時間 1,296 円です。
園のお休みは土日祝日です。そして、夏休み、
クリスマスと新年を含んだ 2 週間の冬休み、春
休みがあります。
AIS is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and
National Holidays as well as for two weeks over
Christmas and New Year’s and one month in
August.

Arrival &Departure
送迎について
To help alleviate traffic congestion and to make
arrival and departure easier for our families,
two elementary AIS staff members will be
stationed outside of the school from 8:00am to
8:30am followed by two or more kindergarten
staff members from 8:30am to 9:30am in the
mornings to receive the students and send
them safely into the school. Likewise at pick-up
time, AIS staff will again be stationed outside
until 4:15pm in the afternoon to deliver
children safely to their parents. Parents who
arrive outside of these times may park in front
of AIS for up to a maximum of ten minutes. We
kindly ask for parents’ cooperation in keeping
to this rule. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation.
登園時、学校周辺に発生する交通渋滞を緩和す

In addition, we must insist that AIS families do
not park in front of our neighbors’ places both
to the left and right of the AIS building.
Observing this rule will help us maintain on
relations with our neighbors.
Child Release
Policy
At pick-up time, children will be released to
their parents or a guardian. If another adult
other than a parent is picking up your child, the
school must be notified in writing or by phone
call by the legal guardian and they need to have
their driver’s license or other identification with
a photo (we will ask to make a copy of their ID).
And also, if your child will be going home with
another child’s parent from AIS, please notify
your classroom teacher and the office via letter
or phone call. Teachers are obligated, for legal
reasons not to release children unless specified
by parents.

職員、そして、8 時 30 分〜9 時 30 分までは、
幼児部職員がお子様達のお迎えを致します。ま
た、授業終了後は、各クラス担任がお子様達の
帰宅のお手伝いをいたします。なお、ご兄弟が
初等部に在籍する場合は、初等部の下校時間に
合わせてお迎えにきて頂いて構いません。その
場合、延長保育料は発生致しません。ただし、
お迎えが午後 4 時 15 分以降（G1 のみ 4 時）に
なる場合は、延長保育の対象となりますので、
予めご了承下さい。お子様が延長保育を受けて
いる際は、車を駐車し、延長保育が行われてい
る教室（予定オルカクラス）までお子様を迎え
に来て頂きます。
学校周辺に住まわれている方々との円滑な関係
を保つ為に、ご近所の家の前に駐車する事を禁
止致します。ご協力とご理解をお願い致します。
お迎えについて
帰宅時に、お子様はご両親またはご親族へお渡
しします。ご両親以外の方がお迎えをする場合、
事前に園へ電話や連絡帳にてご連絡ください。
そして、お迎えに来る際は、身分証明書が必要
となりますので必ず携帯するように、その旨を
当人にお伝え下さい。そして、他の保護者の方
へお迎えをお願いする場合も、事前にお知らせ
ください。適切なお知らせが無い場合、または
身元を確認出来ない場合は、法的な理由からお
子様をお渡しすることができませんのでご了承
の程お願いいたします。

Field Trips
遠足について
AIS conducts regular field trips for its students.
These are sometimes related to the themes
being explored within the program at the time
and assist teachers in extending the children’s
learning beyond the classroom. Parents will be
asked to sign a permission slip before their child
attends an excursion. Parent volunteers will be
required for most excursions. A list of parent
volunteers and groups will be organized prior to
the field trip. Groups will travel to destinations
by school bus. Parents will be notified of all
arrangements in advance. A first aid kit, cell
phone and list of emergency numbers will be in
possession of the teacher leading the field trip.
園では定期的に遠足を行います。各クラスの
月々のテーマに沿った場所へ出かけ、お子様達
Snacks for field trips will be provided by the
school. No outside snacks will be permitted to
be brought on field trips. If you have any
questions of concerns or special cases, allergies,
diet, etc., please contact your classroom
teacher.
All classes will attend a field trip once a term for
a total of three trips a year. The Orca class will
attend four field trips in a year which includes
the Graduation trip.

の学習の補助をする事が目的です。保護者の
方々には、必ず事前に許可書へサインをして頂
きます。遠足にはボランティアとして何名かの
保護者の方々の参加をお願い致します。遠足の
当日までに、保護者ボランティアと担当して頂
くお子様方の一覧表をお渡しします。移動手段
はスクールバス、または地下鉄を使用します。
救急セット、携帯電話、緊急連絡先表は、引率
の教師が持参致します。
遠足でのおやつは、学校から持参する為、それ
以外のおやつの持ち込みはご遠慮下さい。
この件につき、何かご不明な点、特別な状況や
アレルギーなどある場合は、クラスの担任にご
相談下さい。
ジェリーフィッシュクラスとスターフィッシュ
クラスは年に 3 回遠足へ出かけます。そして、
ドルフィンクラスは年 4 回、そして、オルカク
ラスは年 6 回企画致します。

Lunches &
Snack
AIS families have the option of ordering from
our lunch service, Health Clean Delicious Lunch
Center, or bringing in a lunch from home. HCD
Lunch Center offers mostly Japanese-style
lunch and can be purchased for 6000 yen per
month. Allergy lunches can also be purchased
for 7300 yen per month.
Children eat their lunch in their classrooms with
their classroom teachers.
Students are
encouraged to eat all of their lunch as they will
grow to be strong and healthy! However, if
students are not able to finish all of their food,
we encourage them to at least try the items
that they normally do not enjoy eating.
Snacks are offered and provided by the school
daily at around 10:30am. As a school we try to
keep our snacks healthy. Please talk to your
child’s teacher if you would like to know more
about what specific snacks are being offered.
給食とお菓子について
昼食は、学校給食を注文して頂くか、ご家庭か
らお弁当を持参して頂くかのどちらかになりま
す。給食は日本食が主となり、費用は月 6000
円となります。乳製品及び卵アレルギーをお持
ちのお子様用の給食も準備することが可能です。
費用は月当たり 7300 円となります。
おやつは毎日午前 10 時 30 分頃に提供します。
もし、園で支給しているおやつについてお知り
になりたい場合は、担当教師までお尋ねくださ
い。お子様がアレルギーを持っている場合は、
ご家庭からおやつをご持参して頂いても構いま
せん。
園では、アレルギーについて細心の注意を払っ
ており、保護者の方から頂いた情報をもとにア
レルギー表をキッチン、ならびに各教室に提示
してあります。もし、この内容を確認したい場
合は、担当教師までお問い合わせください。
The school is very attentive to allergies and has
an allergy chart located in the kitchen as well as
all classrooms based on the information
provided on the application form. If you would
like to make sure this information is accurate,
please talk with your classroom teacher.
Breakfast
Breakfast is not served at AIS nor do we permit
students to bring breakfast to class. Students
should come to school already having eaten a
healthy breakfast, preparing them for the day
ahead. Thank you for your cooperation in
keeping this rule.

Allergies
アレルギーについて
Child allergies should be specified on your
child’s application form along with details of
severity and any treatments or procedures
should an allergic reaction take place while at
school. Any medications brought in should be
properly labeled with your child’s name and
class and directly passed to the classroom
teacher along with a written description of
directions.
お子様がアレルギー体質である場合は、必ず園
へご連絡ください。園生活の上で、とても重要
In case of a reaction, AIS staff will notify parents
right away and proceed with first
aid/medication as instructed by parents. In
severe cases, children will be taken to Kimura
hospital located two minutes from AIS. Parents
will meet their child and teacher at Kimura
hospital.
病院へお連れ致します。
なことになってきますので、もし間違って食べ
た場合、どのくらい症状が出るのか、そして対
処の仕方など詳細をお知らせください。
万が一、お子様が口にしてはいけない食べ物を
食べてしまった場合、園では保護者へ直ちに連
絡を入れます。そして、お子様へ対処を行いま
す。症状が悪化する場合は、学校傍にある木村
園では、アレルギーを持ったお子様達の名前を
一覧表にして各クラスやオフィスに提示してい
ます。お子様のアレルギー反応の症状が変化
（軽度・重度）した場合は、必ずその都度、園
へご連絡ください。よろしくお願いします。
Child allergies are listed by class and posted in
each classroom as well as common areas such
as the hall, kitchen and offices. Should your
child’s allergy change or become more or less
severe, please notify your classroom teacher.
All staff will be made aware of the changes to
ensure the safety of your child.

Outside Play
Everyday children will be escorted to the
courtyard or a park for outside play time.
Please ensure that your child is dressed in
comfortable clothes and shoes that are suitable
for walking (and running). As the children grow
at different rates, please monitor the size of
your child’s shoes. Teachers will also be on the
lookout for children who claim that their shoes
are too tight. All kindergarten students will be
given a red cap from AIS. All students should be
sure to wear a jacket and gloves in the winter.
Children will be monitored by their classroom
teachers. A first aid kit, insect repellent (during
rainy season and summer), mobile phone and
drinking water will be taken on each journey.
Due to the weather and/or other scheduling
changes, we ask that children be ready for
outside play everyday.
We will try our best to accommodate requests
from parents via a letter to the classroom
teacher that their child stay inside due to
illness. However, in rare situations, AIS may not
be able to meet this request if there is nobody
left in the school to provide supervision.
外遊び
天候によって変わりますが、子供達は毎日校庭
や近くの公園で外遊びをします。お子様は日々、
成長していますので衣服と靴の大きさが身体に
適しているかどうか確認をしてください。冬に
はジャケットと手袋などをお子様に持たせ登園
してください。お子様達には学校から帽子が支
給されます。お子様達が外遊びをしている間、
担当教師がお子様達を監視します。救急セット、
虫よけ、携帯電話、飲料水は毎回必ず所持致し
ます。天候により、予定がない日でも外遊びを
する場合がありますので、毎日、ジャケットな
どお持ちください。
お子様が病気の場合は、できる限り屋内で過ご
すように致します。しかしながら、園事情によ
り園内でお子様を見守ることができない場合も
ありますのでご了承ください。
**体育のオルカクラス用の運動着については、
２０１２年春より、初等部と同じもので統一さ
せていただきますので、ご準備をよろしくお願
いします。
***From the spring of2012 kindergarten
children in the Orca class will be required to
have an AIS PE uniform.
Non-attendance
If your child will not be attending school on a
particular day, you must inform the school prior
to 9:30 by calling 052-788-2255. This is not
only a courtesy, but also to assist AIS teachers
with their planning.

Parent
Volunteers
Parent volunteers will be asked to accompany
kindergarteners on a variety of different field
trips throughout the year. Below are the
expectations and guidelines for such volunteers.
Parents will be assigned a small group of
children to supervise (2 to 4 children)
Parents must be alert to their group’s
whereabouts at all times, ensuring they are
always near to them.
Parent volunteers are asked not to bring
other siblings on the field trip.
Parent volunteers must notify the teacher
leading the field trip of any problems with
their group as soon as possible.
Parent volunteers must follow all field trip
procedures as set by the leading teacher.
Parent volunteers should encourage
children to speak English with their friends.





School Uniform
AIS kindergarten students are responsible for
owning a summer and winter uniform. Our
uniforms are ordered through AIS from Yabe
Pro cutting. Dolphin and Orca students are
required to wear their uniforms daily. All
students (Jellyfish and Starfish) must wear their
uniforms on field trips and other special events
unless otherwise advised by teachers.

一年を通して保護者の方々には、ボランティア
として遠足に参加をして頂きます。遠足に参加







保護者の方々は少人数グループのお子様達
（2～4 人）を受け持って頂きます。
常に担当しいるお子様がどこにいるか細心
の注意を払って頂きます。
他の御兄弟を遠足へ連れて来られない様、
お願い致します。
担当されているお子様やお子様達に問題が
生じた場合、直ちに引率の教師にお知らせ
ください。
遠足に参加されている保護者の方々は園の
日程に従って頂きます。
保護者の方々は、お子様達が英語を話すよ
うに積極的に注意して下さい。
制服について
幼児部のお子様達には、園指定の矢部プロカッ
ティングの制服を着用して頂きます。ドルフィ
ンクラスとオルカクラスでは、毎日、制服を着
用して頂きます。又、遠足や学校行事において
は、全てのお子様（ジェリーフィッシュクラス、
スターフィッシュクラス）に制服を着用して参
加して頂きます。

School Rules
AIS has established a set of rules for the benefit
of the students. The teachers implement the
following rules throughout the day. Aside from
the school rules, each classroom follows a more
specific set of rules and procedures designed
for that particular class. Please talk with your
classroom teacher to find out more about your
class rules and procedures.

 Smile, love, learn, have fun and always
try your best at everything you do!
No Toy Policy
One of our school rules is that no toys be
brought from home. AIS has a large stock of
educational toys and resources for all the
students to access throughout the day.
Children naturally feel ownership of toys from
home, and are often reluctant to share them
with other members of the class. This causes
problems within the school environment as the
children expected to share all their toys and
resources. Loss or breakage of toys from home
may also occur, so please ensure that this rule
is followed consistently.
The only exception to this rule is when children
are asked to bring something in for Show N’
Tell. Teachers will collect items brought in and
distribute them during Show N’ Tell time.

らの規則は、園環境の中で生活するため、そし
て安全性を確保するために大変重要となります。
教師たちは、一日の生活を過ごす上でこれらを
実行します。各クラス内にもいくつかの規則が

当園では、家庭からおもちゃを持参することを
禁止しています。園では全てのお子様たちが利
用できるだけの教材玩具を十分に揃えています。
お子様は、家庭から持ってきたおもちゃに対し
て所有意識が強いため、しばしば他の子供達と
それを共有することを拒む場合があります。園
では、おもちゃを共有するように指導していま
すので、このような行動は園生活の中で問題の
原因となります。そして、破損や損失もおこり
うる可能性もありますので、どうぞご協力をお
願いいたします。
ただし、各クラスで行うショウアンドテルや行
事で必要な場合のみ、ご持参いただいて構いま
せん。個人のおもちゃは、行事のみに使用する
ためクラスの担任が帰宅時間まで保管します。

Photographs
School photos can now be accessed at
ais.smugmug.com. This service allows parents
to download photos at their leisure and share
the photos with family and friends who may be
living elsewhere. To protect the privacy of our
students and their families, this website is
password protected.
Passwords will be
changed every term. Parents will be notified
every term of the new password.

スマグマグのウェブサイトを利用し、公開
しています。このサービスはご家庭や遠く
に離れたご親戚にも閲覧することができま
す。但し、プライバシーを考慮し、閲覧す
るためにはパスワードが必要となります。

Information
It is the responsibility of the child’s parents to
inform the school of any change to the details
provided on their enrollment form. It is
essential that the school be informed of such
changes as:
 New phone numbers (home, business
or cell phone)
 A new address
 A newly recognized allergy or illness
Termination of
Enrollment
お子様の情報について
入学時にご登録頂いたお子様の情報に変更が生
じた場合は園まで速やかにお知らせください。

退園について
何らかの理由で園を退園する場合は、可能
な限り早めに園へお知らせください。退園
するにあたり、書類手続きをして頂く必要
があります。詳細は、オフィスへお問い合
わせください。
In the event that you must terminate your
enrollment at AIS, you should advise the office
at your earliest convenience. Parents will be
asked to complete a Termination of Enrollment
Form. Be advised that tuition for any terms
even partially attended is not refundable.
Tuition paid for terms not attended shall be
refunded.

Emergency
防災対策について
Information
Emergency Location
In the event of an emergency where the school
is no longer a safe location for the children (due
to fire, earthquake, natural disaster, etc.)
parents will be advised to collect their children
from the Nishiyama Elementary School located
up the street from AIS. Parents should
familiarize themselves with this location so that
they may collect their child promptly in an
emergency.
緊急避難場所（西山小学校）
緊急事態（火災、地震、台風など）が発生し校
舎が安全でなくなった場合、お子様は西山小学
校へ避難していただきます。そして、保護者の
方々には西山小学校までお子様をお迎えに来て
いただくように連絡いたします。必ず、事前に

避難訓練
Earthquake and Fire Drills
Both earthquake and fire drills will be
performed once every term so that students
will be familiar with what they need to do in
case of an earthquake or fire.
幼児部では、初等部と合同で毎学期に一度、異
なる時間に火災、及び地震避難訓練を行います。
設備・施設
Building/Facilities
The AIS school building has been approved by
KAKUNIN Service Inc. for use as a children’s
school. The design of the building meets all of
the strictest building codes, and the walls are all
fire resistant. All of the rooms on the first floor
have doors that lead outside, and the building’s
three stairways allow students on the second
floor to quickly exit the building in the event of
an emergency. The library is also equipped
with an escape apparatus. Fire extinguishers
are placed throughout the building and are
inspected twice annually by the fire marshal.
All of the teachers are familiar with the
locations of the fire extinguishers and how to
use them. The school has enough water and
food to last for at least two days.

お子様達が日々使用する本校舎は、株式会社確
認サービスにて構造検査を受け、承認を得てお
ります。校舎を取り巻く壁はすべて準耐火構造
基準を元に作られています。また、一階の全室
内に非常ドアがあり、緊急時には建物に設置さ
れた３つの階段を利用することで、二階にいる
お子様達も素早く避難することが可能です。図
書室にも、小窓があり、それを使用して避難で
きます。消火器は教室内に設置してあり、年に
二度検査を受けています。全ての教師は、消火
器の使い方を熟知しています。園では、二日分
の水と食料を備えてあります。

Earthquake Forecast
Although not perfected yet, certain methods
are being researched for predicting when and
where an earthquake will hit. If the government
determines through these methods that there
is a very high probability that an earthquake
will hit the Nagoya region on a particular day,
or within a particular time, we ask that parents
keep their children at home until the danger
passes or the forecast is recalled. Parents will
be informed of school closure via your class
phone tree.



If the warning is recalled before
6:00am, the school shall open as usual
at 8:00am.
If the warning is recalled between
6:00am and 11:00am, the school shall
open at 1:00pm
If the warning is recalled after 11:00am,
the school shall remain closed for the
day.
*** Please note that many AIS families live far
from the school. In this case, although the
warning is recalled before a specific time, AIS
may remain closed the entire day. Parents will
be notified by their class phone tree.
地震予知情報
完全ではありませんが、いつどこで地震がおこ
るかという地震予知は日々研究されています。
もし、特定の日または特定の期間に名古屋地方
で地震が起こる可能性があると予報または警報
が発令された場合、予報や警報が解除されるま
でお子様はご自宅で待機して頂きます。その際
は、園から連絡簿を使用し、保護者の方々へご
連絡いたします。

警報が午前 6：00 までに解除された場合、

通常通り午前 8：30 から開園します。
警報が午前 6：00 から午前 11：00 の間に
解除された場合は、園は午後 1：00 から開

園します。
警報が午前 11：00 以降に解除された場合
は、休園とします。
**AIS には公立の学校と違い、遠方からのお子
様が多いので、警報が解除されても状況に応じ
て休園にする場合があります。その場合は、緊
急連絡網を使用してご連絡いたします。自宅待
機にした場合、休日に振り替えることなくカリ
キュラムの編成を行います。

Large Earthquake Scenario
In the event that a large earthquake hits the Nagoya
region and the AIS building sustains severe damage,
members from Fourin (our parent company) shall be
dispatched and arrive at the school within ten
minutes. Any students with serious injuries shall be
taken immediately to Kimura hospital located two
minutes from AIS. All other students and staff shall
proceed to the evacuation center where we shall
wait until all of the children are claimed by their
parents. The AIS staff will attempt to contact the
PTA after the students have been secured in the
evacuation center. Parents concerned about their
child’s safety should first try to contact their PTA
representative before contacting the school of staff.
Since telecommunications can be unreliable after a
major natural disaster, signs explaining the
conditions and whereabouts of the children shall be
posted on the AIS entrance. Parents who are unable
to make any contact and who are unsure about
where to go should proceed to the AIS building and
then to the evacuation center (Nishiyama
Elementary School).
Typhoon Warnings
In the event of a typhoon warning, AIS shall
follow the same procedures as the elementary
schools in the Nagoya area. In other words, if
the elementary schools begin sending their
students home early, we shall also ask our PTA
to notify AIS parents to pick up their children as
soon as possible. We ask that emergency
phone lines such as personal cell phones be
kept open as much as possible if there is a
chance that a typhoon may approach Nagoya.




大地震
名古屋地方で大地震が襲い、校舎に大損害があ
った場合、関連会社のフォーインから１０人が
１０分以内に駆けつけます。もし、重症のお子
様がいる場合は、木村病院まで直ちに搬送いた
します。残りのお子様達は教師と一緒に避難所
まで移動し、そして PTA の方々へご連絡いたし
ます。もし、お子様の安否について確認したい
場合は、園に連絡するのではく、はじめにクラ
ス PTA へ連絡をいれてください。大災害後の電
話通信は信頼し難いため、校舎に状況と児童の
居場所について書かれた張り紙をします。
園と連絡が取れず、どこに行けばいいのか分か
らない場合は、まず園までお越しください。そ
して、避難場所の西山小学校までお越しくださ
い。
暴風雨警報
暴風雨警報が発令された場合、当園では名古屋
市内にある小学校と同じ手続きをとります。近
所の小学校が下校措置を取った際、当園も PTA
を通じ、速やかにお迎えに来ていただくように
お知らせいたします。お子様が登園中、台風が
名古屋に接近する可能性がある場合は、常に連
絡が取れる状態にしておいてください。

警報が午前 6：00 までに解除された場合、
通常通り午前 8：30 から開園します。

警報が午前 6：00 から午前 11：00 の間に
解除された場合は、園は午後 1：00 から開
園します。

警報が午前 11：00 以降に解除された場合

Heavy Snow Warning
In the event of a snow warning, AIS will follow
up-to-date weather reports and notify parents
via the phone tree if the school shall be closed
due to heavy snow or unsafe road conditions. If
heavy snow storms occur after students have
arrived at AIS, school will go on as scheduled
and students will be kept at AIS until conditions
are safe for parents to come to the school to
pick up their children.
大雪警報
もし、大雪の影響（道路状況が著しく悪い場
合）で園が開園されない場合は、連絡簿を使用
し、保護者の方々へご連絡いたします。もし、
お子様が園内で生活している際に大雪になった
場合、園内で待機していただきます。そして、

Toilet Training
Please advise the school if you plan to start
toilet training your child. The school will
support you during this process by training your
child at school as well.
Communication
Parent Meetings
Parent meetings will be held once a month for
each class in order to give parents and teachers
a scheduled time to talk more in detail about
the class and up-coming events. It is important
that parents and teachers have time each day
at pick-up time to go over daily events,
however, because of time, we encourage
teachers and parents alike to maintain open
communication by means of letters, memos in
attendance books and periodic phone calls
home. Dates of parent meetings can be found
on the monthly newsletter.
Newsletter and Bulletin Board
At the end of each month, parents will receive a
monthly newsletter for the following month
notifying parents of upcoming events, special
dates, etc. The newsletter will also include a
message from your classroom teacher
reviewing lessons and events in the classroom.
Directly outside of each classroom is a bulletin
board displaying important dates and
information for that class. Please stop by and
see what your class is up to each month!

コミュニケーション
保護者会
保護者会は、月に一度各クラスで行われます。
この会ではクラス内で行うことや学校行事の説
明等をいたします。保護者会の日程は毎月発行
されるニュースレターに記載されます。毎日、
全ての保護者の方々とお話できるのも良いこと
ですが、時間に限りがあります。そのため、保
護者の方々と連絡を円滑に行うためにニュース
レター、連絡帳、電話などを使用いたします。
ニュースレターと掲示板
毎月一度、園のニュースレターが発行されます。
そこには、月に行われる学校行事とクラス行事、
お子様たちの写真、クラス担任のコメントが掲
載されています。
クラスの入り口横には、掲示板が設置されてい
ます。そこにも、ニュースレターと同様に月々
の行事について書かれてあり、そして写真など
も掲示されています。

Open Door Policy
Parents who would like to observe a class are
invited to visit after the Golden Week holiday.
April is a very busy month for students and
there are a lot of procedures and routines that
they will be adjusting to. It will be easier for
parents to observe their children in a well
learned environment after the first month
when the students are comfortable in their new
environment.
Should you want to come in to visit your child’s
class, please talk to your classroom teacher and
decide upon a time and date.
AIS Privacy
Policy
All documentation and personal information
shared with AIS is confidential and will remain
in the first floor office of AIS. The office is
equipped with a camera that surveys the room
24 hours a day. Also, official papers are kept in
a safe in the first floor office.
Photo Release
At the beginning of the school year, family
members will be asked to sign a photo release
form allowing AIS to use photos of your child in
school
related
publications,
monthly
newsletters,
AIS
news
publications,
advertisements, etc. If you do not wish photos
of your child to be released, please specify so
on this form. All staff will be made aware of
photo release requests and follow accordingly.

クラス参観について
お子様の園での様子やクラスで行われているこ
となどを保護者の方々にご覧頂きたいと考えて
おります。しかし、4 月中、お子様たちは新し
いクラスの生活に慣れるために神経質になりま
す。そこで、クラス参観を開始する時期は、ゴ
ールデンウィーク明けからとさせていただきま
す。
参加希望者の方は、必ずクラス担任とお話の上、
日時をお決めください。
個人情報の扱いについて
お子様に関わるすべての情報は、24 時間カメラ
で監視されている一階のオフィスに保管されて
います。
写真使用について
ジャパンスクールレターや広告などにお子様た
ちの写真を掲載することがあります。それに伴
い、園初年度、保護者の方々には承諾書に署名
をして頂いております。ただし、ご賛同してい
ただける場合のみです。これは強制ではありま
せんのでご賛同していただけない場合は署名を
する必要はありません。但し、賛同していただ
けないお子様の写真の撮影数はかぎりなく０に
近くなる事も意味しますので、何卒ご了承願い
ます。

Parking
Unfortunately parking at AIS is quite limited.
Parking at AIS is prohibited during our drivethru hours of 8:00am – 9:30am and 2:30pm –
4:30pm. Times when parents are permitted to
park at AIS include field trip volunteer days,
kindergarten birthday parties, some afterschool
activities and special appointments with
teachers. On days of big events, such as Cherry
Blossom Picnic and Sport’s Day, we ask that
parents find parking nearby and walk to AIS.
Parking alongside Nijigaoka Park is not
recommended. Keeping the rules in regards to
parking will make things much smoother for
traffic in front of the school.
First Aid
First Aid supplies are located and stored in each
classroom. Teachers are responsible for
ensuring that their first aid kits are well stocked
and up to date.
駐車場について
園の駐車場には限りがございます。混雑を避け
るために、ドライブスルーを行っている午前 8
時から 9 時 30 分の間と、午後 2 時 15 分から 4
時 30 分までの間は、保護者の方々には駐車場使
用を極力避けて頂きますようお願いたします。
また、虹ヶ丘公園沿いの道路は駐車禁止と定め
られていますので、こちらへの駐車もお控えく
ださい。大きな学校行事がおこなわれる際は、
公共駐車場、または公共交通機関を利用し園へ
お越しください。
救急箱
救急箱は各クラスに配置され、クラス担任によ
って不足しているものがあれば補充されます。

Birthdays
誕生日会について
Birthday celebrations will be held once a month at
around 2:30pm. Please discuss arrangements for
birthday celebrations with your child’s teacher
well in advance of the party. Parents are
welcome to bring in snacks such as a birthday
cake, cookies, drinks, etc. to make the celebration
more special.

Be sure to talk with your child’s teacher to see if
there are any allergies or special food restrictions
in your class. Sometimes parents want to bring in
little gifts for the birthday celebrants. We ask that
any gift-giving be done outside of school as gifts
may get lost or broken in all of the excitement.
Personal Gifts
Gifts or souvenirs for individuals should not be
brought nor passed out at the school. In
particular, AIS staff guidelines prohibit staff
members from accepting any and all gifts no
matter the occasion.
On the other hand,
souvenirs may be brought and shared with the
entire class or the entire staff.
***Please note that AIS not be able to pass out
some souvenirs due to allergies or other reasons.
Orca English
お問い合わせください。ケーキ、アイスクリー
ム、ドーナツ、飲み物等お持ちいただいて結構
です。ただし、アレルギーを持っている園児が
在籍している場合がありますので、担任と打ち
合わせの後、誕生日の手配を行ってください。
誕生日を迎えるお子様に個人的にプレゼントを
渡す場合は、紛失や破損の恐れがあるため園外
で行ってください。ご協力とご理解をお願いし
ます。
プレゼントについて
お子様同士での個人的なプレゼント交換は園内
で行わないでください。また、教師規則に従い、
担当教師への個人的なプレゼントはお断りして
おります。しかしながら、旅のおみやげなどク
ラスメイトや先生で分かち合えるものであれば
大丈夫です。

オルカ英語力診断テスト
Assessment Test
As children sometimes move on after
completing kindergarten at AIS, the school will
begin administering English Assessment tests
from this year. This will give students the
opportunity to earn an English qualification
before leaving AIS. The Kokuren Eiken Junior
(Pre-A/A) test will be administered in July, term
1 and September, term 2.

Association of
Schools and
Colleges
Lastly … but possibly most importantly, why
should you come to AIS ? AIS is an accredited
bi-lingual school. Although it is not registered as
an official school by the Japanese government,
AIS is accredited by WASC (Western Association
of Schools and Colleges). The value for AIS
parents of the school belonging to WASC is that
it provides parents with quality assurance. A
visiting committee will review the teaching and
management practices of the school, and
provide detailed feedback of the strengths and
weaknesses of the school. As part of the
accreditation cycle the school will carry out a
self-review each year. This is so that, internally,
the teaching and administration staff of AIS can
analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the
school, and highlights areas for future
development. By belonging to WASC we hope
that this highlights the school’s trustworthiness
and demonstrate the improvements that occur
within the school. Lastly, WASC provides you as
parents and the school as an education facility
with a tool of accountability.
WASC について
最後になりましたが、保護者の方が当校を選ば
れた理由として、ＡＩＳが日本では無認可の学
校ではありますが、バイリンガルの学校として
北アメリカの学校認可協会（ＷＡＳC）により
認可された学校であるからという点が大きいか
と存じます。ＡＩＳがＷＡＳＣに所属している
ことは、保護者の方に安心をもたらしている事
と思っております。ＷＡＳＣの審査では、教員
や運営を評価され、学校の長所・短所について
の詳細なフィードバックがあります。この認可
にあたり、学校では毎年、自主審査も行います。
教員や運営スタッフは学校の長所と短所を分析
したり、より良い学校にするために力を入れる
分野をはっきりさせたりすることができます。
ＷＡＳＣに所属することは、信頼を得られ成長
する事が求められています。

Illness
The school requests that parents keep their
children at home if they are sick. This policy
exists for the comfort of the child as well as the
health and well-being of their fellow students
and teachers. If a child becomes sick while at
school, the parents will be notified and asked to
come and pick up their child at their earliest
convenience.
Health Alerts
In the case that a child becomes sick with an
illness that is contagious, the school will send
home a health alert paper informing families of
the illness and its symptoms. The first alert will
go home on yellow paper. If more cases are
found at the school, a second health alert on
pink paper will be handed out. Please monitor
your child in case similar symptoms arise and
have them checked at a clinic.
Class Closure
Classes may be closed due to a contagious
illness depending on the percentage of the class
that is affected. AIS will follow the same
procedures as the elementary schools in the
Nagoya area. AIS will inform parents of the
procedures and keep families up to date should
we need to close a class.
Serious Illness
If your child is out with a contagious disease, he
or she needs the consent of a doctor before
returning to school. If your child is out due to a
communicable disease, please make a copy of

病気
お子様が病気の場合は、ご家庭で安静にするこ
とをお願いいたします。これは、お子様の静養
と健康の為のみならず、他のお子様達や教師の
健康を保つための方針です。お子様が園生活中
に体調を崩す事があれば、保護者の方へご連絡
し、お迎えに来て頂きます。
学校伝染病
感染する恐れのある病気が発症した場合は、速
やかに園から病名および症状について書かれた
手紙を発行いたします。初回のお知らせはピン
ク、２回目のお知らせは黄色の紙を使用いたし
ます。
クラス閉鎖について
万が一、感染病が発症した場合は、当園では名
古屋市認可保育園（幼稚園）と同じ手続きをと
りクラス閉鎖、または園閉鎖の対策を取る場合
があります。その場合は、保護者の方々へご連
絡を差し上げます。
重病
インフルエンザを含む伝染病が完治し登園を再
開する場合は、必ず、医師から登校許可書（別
紙）を記入してもらい、担任に提出してくださ
い。

Medication
If your child needs to take medication while at
school, please communicate with teachers the
specifics of the illness and send written
instructions on how the medicine should be
taken. Elementary students may take medicine
if instructed to do so by parents, however,
teachers need to be aware of the illness.
Medical Emergency
In the event of a medical emergency, the school
will call for an ambulance and will accompany
the respective child to the designated hospital.
Every effort will be made to contact the parents
immediately.
薬の服用について
お子様が園にいる間に、薬を服用する必要
がある場合は、クラス担任へ直接連絡する
か、連絡帳にてお知らせください。その際
には、処方の仕方を明確にしてください。
アクシデントを防ぐために AIS では職員が
保護者に実際に来て頂き、薬を与える事を
お願いする場合もありますのでご了承くだ
さい。
緊急事態
緊急事態が発生した場合、園は速やかに救
急車を手配し、お子様と一緒に手配された
病院まで同行します。そして、すみやかに
保護者の方へ連絡を差し上げます。
