This DURAMAR-2150 Quick Reference Guide is divided into two parts:
•
The first part contains information relating to safety and environmental protection; this
is written in the languages of the Countries where the product will be distributed.
•
The second part contains a start guide; this is written only in English.
While all reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of this document,
however, Eurotech S.p.A. assumes no liability resulting from any omissions in this
document, or from the use of the information contained herein. It is not warranted that the
contents of this publication or any accompanying source code examples, whether
individually or as one or more groups, will meet your requirements or that the publication or

Safety Notices and Warnings
The following general safety precautions must be observed during all phases of operation,
service, and repair of this equipment. Failure to comply with these precautions or with
specific warnings elsewhere in this manual violates safety standards of design,
manufacture, and intended use of the equipment. Eurotech S.p.A. assumes no liability for
the customer’s failure to comply with these requirements.
The safety precautions listed below represent warnings of certain dangers of which
Eurotech is aware. You, as the user of the product, should follow these warnings and all
other safety precautions necessary for the safe operation of the equipment in your
operating environment.
Installation in Cupboards and Safes
In the event of placing the product in cupboard or safe, together with other equipment
generating heat, ensure proper ventilation. In this case apply precautions against heat
sources.
Do Not Operate in an Explosive Atmosphere
Do not operate the equipment in the presence of flammable gases or fumes. Operation of
any electrical equipment in such an environment constitutes a definite safety hazard.
Keep Away From Live Circuits
Operating personnel must not remove equipment covers. Only Factory Authorized Service
Personnel or other qualified maintenance personnel may remove equipment covers for

internal subassembly or component replacement or any internal adjustment. Do not
replace components with power cable connected. Under certain conditions, dangerous
voltages may exist even with the power cable removed. To avoid injuries, always
disconnect power and discharge circuits before touching them.
Do Not Substitute Parts or Modify Equipment
Because of the danger of introducing additional hazards, do not install substitute parts or
perform any unauthorized modification of the equipment. Contact the Eurotech Technical
Support Team or your local representative for service and repair to ensure that safety
features are maintained.
Observe Dangerous Procedure Warnings
Warnings icons (see the yellow icon to the right side) precede potentially
dangerous procedures throughout this manual. Instructions contained in the
warnings must be followed. You should also use all other safety precautions,
which you deem necessary for the operation of the equipment in your operating
environment.
Use an Appropriate Power Supply
•
Only start the product with the power supply stated on the voltage label. In case of
uncertainty about the required power supply, please contact the Eurotech Technical
Support Team or the electricity authority
•
Use power supplies that are compliant with SELV regulation
•
Use certified power cables. The power cable must fit the product, the voltage and the
required current
•
Position cable with care. Avoid positioning cable in places where it might be trampled
on or compressed by objects placed on it. Take particular care of plug, power-point
and outlet of power cable
•
Overcharge: avoid overcharging power-points
Reliability
Eurotech has taken extra care of product design in order to ensure reliability.
Life Support Policy
Eurotech products are not authorized for use as critical components in life support devices
or systems without the express written approval of Eurotech S.p.A.

Warranty
This product is supplied with a limited warranty. The product warranty covers failure of any
Eurotech manufactured product caused by manufacturing defects. Eurotech will make all
reasonable effort to repair the product or replace it with an equivalent alternative. Eurotech
reserves the right to replace the returned product with an alternative variant or an
equivalent fit, form and functional product. Delivery charges will apply to all returned
products.
CE Notice
This product is marked
in accordance with the Class 2 product requirements
specified in the R&TTE Directive, 1999/5/EC.
The CE Mark on the product indicates that the system has been tested and conforms to the
provisions of the 2004/108/EC Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive and the 2006/95/EC
Low Voltage Directive.
Eurotech shall not be liable for use of our products with equipment (i.e., power supplies,
personal computers, etc.) that are not CE marked and do not comply with the Low Voltage
Directive.

The symbol to the right has been attached to the equipment or, if this has not
been possible, on the packaging, instruction literature and/or the guarantee
sheet. By using this symbol, it states that the device has been marketed after
August 13th 2005, and implies that you must separate all of its components
when possible, and dispose of them in accordance with local waste disposal legislations:

Because of the substances present in the equipment, improper use or disposal of
the refuse can cause damage to human health and to the environment

Assicurare la corretta ventilazione in caso di installazione del prodotto in armadi o scaffali.
Tenere in considerazione la presenza di altri dispositivi generanti calore e applicare le
precauzioni del caso.
Non operare in atmosfera esplosiva
Non far funzionare il prodotto in presenza di gas o fumi infiammabili. Il funzionamento del
prodotto in tali condizioni ambientali rappresenta un potenziale rischio alla sicurezza.

Non toccare le parti sotto tensione
Al personale operativo non è permesso rimuovere i coperchi del prodotto.
Solamente il personale tecnico autorizzato può rimuovere i coperchi del’unità per interventi
di manutenzione, sostituzione di elementi o regolazioni interne. Non sostituire gli elementi
mentre i cavi di alimentazione sono collegati. In particolari condizioni, anche quando il
prodotto non è alimentato, al suo interno possono essere presenti tensioni pericolose. Al
fine di evitare lesioni, scollegare sempre l’alimentazione e scaricare i circuiti prima di
effetture l’intervento.
Non sostituire gli elementi o modificare l’apparato
Non installare parti sostitutive o eseguire alcuna modifica non autorizzata all’apparato. Per
operazioni di servizio o riparazione contattare l’Eurotech Technical Support Team, o un
rappresentante locale, al fine di garantire il mantenimento delle condizioni di sicurezza del
prodotto.
Oservare le avvertenze relative alle situazioni pericolose
L’icona di avvertimento riportata in questo manuale (vedere l’icona gialla a lato)
precede le situazioni potenzialmente pericolose. Le avvertenze indicano
istruzioni che devono essere seguite. L’utente è inoltre tenuto ad osservare ogni

Utilizzare un’alimentazione appropriata

Utilizzare alimentatori conformi alla normativa SELV
•
Utilizzare cavi di alimentazione certificati. I cavi di alimentazione devono essere adatti
al voltaggio e alla corrente richiesti dal prodotto.
•
Posizionare i cavi con cura. Evitare di posizionare i cavi in luoghi dove potrebbero
essere calpestati o schiacciati da oggetti. Prestare particolre cura per spina e presa di
corrente.
•
Evitare di surriscaldare le prese di corrente.
Affidabilità
Eurotech ha prestato una cura particolare nel progetto di questo prodotto al fine di
assicurerne l’affidabilità.
Life Support Policy
I prodotti Eurotech non possono essere utilizzati come componenti critici in sistemi o
dispositivi per la sopravvivenza senza l’approvazione scritta da parte di Eurotech S.p.A.

La presente apparecchiatura, inclusi tutti gli elementi, i sottoinsiemi ed i materiali di
consumo che sono parte integrante del prodotto, nel momento in cui si assume la
decisione di disfarsene, è da considerarsi 'rifiuto di apparecchiature elettriche ed
elettroniche o RAEE'. Per questo motivo sull’apparecchiatura o, qualora non sia
stato possibile, sulla confezione, sulle istruzioni o sul foglio di garanzia, è stato
apposto il simbolo a lato. Tale simbolo indica che l’apparecchiatura è stata

Installation dans des armoires et coffres
Si le produit est placé dans une armoire ou un coffre avec un autre équipement générant
de la chaleur, assurez-vous que l’endroit soit correctement ventilé. Dans ce cas, appliquez
les précautions relatives aux sources de chaleur.
Ne pas opérer dans un environnement explosif
Ne faites pas fonctionner l’équipement en présence de gaz ou de fumées inflammables. Le
fonctionnement d’un équipement électrique dans un tel environnement constitue un réel
risque de sécurité.

Ne touchez pas aux circuits sous tension
Le personnel d’exécution ne doit pas enlever le capot de l’équipement. Seul le personnel
qualifié autorisé de l’usine peut retirer le capot de l’équipement pour remplacer un
composant ou effectuer un ajustement interne. Ne remplacez pas un composant lorsque le
câble d’alimentation est branché. Sous certaines conditions, une dangereuse tension peut
demeurer même si le câble d’alimentation est débranché. Afin d’éviter toute blessure,
déconnectez toujours le câble d’alimentation et décharger les circuits avant de les toucher.
Ne remplacez pas les pièces et ne modifiez pas l’équipement
N’installez pas de pièces de substitution et ne modifiez pas l’équipement sans autorisation
préalable. Pour toute réparation, contactez l’équipe du Support Technique d’Eurotech ou
votre représentant local afin de garantir le maintien des caractéristiques de sécurité du
produit.
Observez les consignes relatives aux procédures dangereuses
Les icônes d’avertissement (icône jaune à droite) précèdent les procédures
potentiellement dangereuses de ce manuel. Les instructions indiquées dans ce
document doivent être suivies. Il vous sera également recommandé d’observer
d’autres mesures de sécurité que vous jugerez nécessaires pour le bon
fonctionnement de l’équipement au sein de votre environnement.
Utilisez une alimentation appropriée
•
Le produit doit être uniquement mis en route avec la valeur de voltage indiquée sur
l’étiquette. En cas de doute sur l’alimentation requise, merci de contacter l’équipe du
Support Technique d’Eurotech ou le service Electricité.
•
Utilisez une alimentation conforme à la norme SELV
•
Utilisez des câbles d’alimentation certifiés. Le câble d’alimentation doit correspondre
au voltage et au courant requis du produit.
•
Placez le câble avec précaution. Eviter de le placer dans des endroits où il pourrait
être piétiné ou écrasé par des objets. Prenez particulièrement soin de la fiche du
câble.
•
Evitez de surcharger les fiches.
Fiabilité
Eurotech a prêté une grande attention à la conception du produit afin d’assurer sa fiabilité.
Règles concernant les équipements a risque vital
Les produits Eurotech ne peuvent être utilisés comme composants dans des équipements
a risque vital sans l’autorisation express écrite d’Eurotech S.p.A.

Garantie
Ce produit est fourni avec une garantie limitée. La garantie couvre toute défaillance du
produit due à un défaut de production. Eurotech s’efforcera de réparer le produit ou de le
remplacer par un produit équivalent. Eurotech se réserve le droit de remplacer un produit
retourné par un produit équivalent. Des frais de transport seront appliqués pour tout produit
retourné.

Ce produit est certifié

WEEE
L’information ci-dessous est conforme aux réglementations présentées dans la directive
2002/96/CE, subséquemment remplacée par la 2003/108/CE. Elle fait référence aux
équipements électriques et électroniques ainsi qu’à la gestion des déchets de tels produits.
Avant de jeter un appareil, y compris ses composants, sous-ensembles et matériaux
faisant partie intégrante du produit, vous devriez prendre en considération la directive
WEEE.
Le symbole de droite a été apposé sur le produit ou, si cela n’était pas possible,
sur l’emballage, la notice ou encore la garantie. L’utilisation de ce symbole

Manténgase Alejado de los Circuitos
Los usuarios no deben quitar las tapas del equipo. Solamente Personal Autorizado por la
Fábrica u otro personal de mantenimiento cualificado puede quitar las tapas del equipo
para desmontaje interno, sustitución de piezas o cualquier ajuste interno. No sustituya
componentes con el cable de corriente enchufado. Bajo ciertas condiciones, pueden
producirse voltajes peligrosos aunque el cable de corriente esté desenchufado. Para evitar
daños, desenchufe siempre la corriente y descargue los circuitos antes de tocarlos.
No Sustituya Piezas ni Modifique el Equipo
Dado el peligro de introducir riesgos adicionales, no instale piezas de sustitución ni
modifique el equipo sin autorización. Póngase en contacto con el Equipo de Soporte

Betreiben Sie das Gerät unter keinen Umständen, wenn sich entflammbare Gase, Dämpfe

Geräten in einer solchen Umgebung stellen ein konkretes hohes Sicherheitsrisiko dar.
Halten Sie sich von allen strom- und spannungsführenden Schaltungen
fern!
Das Bedienpersonal darf niemals selbst Geräteabdeckungen oder –teile vom Gehäuse
abschrauben/abnehmen bzw. das Gehäuse öffnen. Ausschließlich dem vom Werk
authorisierten Kundendienst oder anderweitig qualifiziertem Wartungspersonal ist es
gestattet, das Gehäuse zum Zweck der internen Montage von Baugruppen oder Austausch
von Komponenten oder anderen internen Modifikationen zu öffnen. Tauschen Sie niemals
Komponenten aus, wenn das Stromkabel angesteckt ist. Bei bestimmten
Umgebungsbedingungen können sogar gefährliche Spannungen anliegen, wenn das
Stromkabel abgezogen ist. Um Verletzungen zu vermeiden, trennen Sie bitte zuerst stets
das Netzkabel vom Netz. Auch müssen die Stromschaltungen entladen sein, bevor Sie
diese berühren.

Physical description
Front panel
Some service interfaces are provided on the front panel of the system under a protection
cover. They can be used for debugging, firmware uploading, system configuration and
diagnostics.
It is possible to remove the protection cover by removing the two Torx screws.
Warning: When the protection cover is removed the IP protection grade

Cable sets
Various cable sets are available in order to simplify initial work with the DuraMAR-2150.
Warning:
Electric current from power and communication cables is hazardous. To
avoid shock hazard when connecting or disconnecting cables, follow
appropriate safety precautions. Ensure that the correct operating voltage is
used when powering the device.

Chapter 2. Example of System Operation
This chapter illustrates an operation example of the Eurotech Communication Controller
(ECC) and its interaction with the CISCO 3200 ISR.
Overview
The ECC is a standard x86-based system running a Linux kernel and preinstalled
application software (hereafter referred to as ECC firmware).
The ECC firmware provides a command line interface by which the user can obtain status
information and perform configuration and maintenance operations. Available status
information includes: network interface status, signal quality, availability of HSDPA service,
internal temperatures as well as CPU parameters such as memory usage and CPU load.
Some of this information can be also accessed using SNMP protocol.
The ECC subsystem is equipped with three different network interfaces:
•
One 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface (eth0)
•
One 3G cellular interface (hsdpa0) used for providing HSDPA connectivity to the
CISCO 3200 ISR
•
One 2G cellular interface (gprs0) available as a backup interface for accessing the
system in case of some failure on the 3G interface
Operating Modes
The ECC subsystem is capable of operating in two modes (the mode of operation depends
on the configuration of the HSDPA interface; refer to the DuraMAR-2150 User’s manual for
further information):

Routing Mode

Bridging Mode
This Quick Reference Guide will give the user a brief description about the Routing mode.
In this mode the ECC operates as a standard router connected to the CISCO 3200 ISR
with an Ethernet link. In this mode a couple of private IP addresses are used on the link
between ECC and the CISCO 3200 ISR with NAT (Network Address Translation)
translation enabled on the wireless HSDPA interface.
This mode is suitable when there is no special requirement for the IP address used on the
CISCO 3200 ISR router interface.

DuraMAR-2150 configuration
The configuration of DuraMAR-2150 system involves the configuration of the ECC and
CISCO 3200 ISR subsystems.
•
The ECC subsystem can be configured using the CPU console interface available on
the front panel under the protection cover. The serial console communication
parameters must be set to: 115200 baud, No parity, 8-bit data size, 1 Stop bit
•
The CISCO 3200 ISR subsystem can be configured using the Cisco console interface
available on the front panel under the removable protection cover. The serial
communication parameters must be set to: 9600 baud, No parity, 8-bit data size, 1
Stop bit. There is no username or password defined in the default configuration.
Please refer to the documentation provided by CISCO for detailed configuration of the
CISCO 3200 ISR devices
Command Line Interface
The Command Line Interface (CLI) is a text-based user interface that provides a set of
commands to configure the settings and monitor functions and status of the system. These
commands and the way the CLI is used is very similar to the CISCO IOS® command
interface making the use of CLI easy to adopt for experienced CISCO IOS® users.
The CLI is available to the user by connecting a terminal emulator to the serial console port
interface (the one under the protection cover) or by accessing the system through a SSH
session. In both cases to access the CLI the user is asked to provide the following login
information:
•
Username: admin
•
Password: admin (default)
Once logged in, the user enters to a CLI session. The CLI will show a prompt and will wait
for user input. The session is terminated when the user logs out.

Configuring the HSDPA interface in Router Mode
In Router Mode the system operates as a standard router: all the traffic that comes in from
the Ethernet interface is routed through the 3G wireless link.
To configure the system for operating in Router Mode, the hsdpa0 interface must have the
NAT service enabled and must be used as default route for the outgoing traffic. The IP
connectivity between the CISCO 3200 ISR and the ECC must be properly configured and
the IP address assigned to the eth0 interface of the ECC must be configured as default
gateway on the CISCO 3200 ISR.
For example, the steps required to configure the interface for Router Mode can be the

Mounting and installing considerations
Refer to the User’s Manual for further information about mounting and installing the
DuraMAR-2150.
The unit must be mounted in a place that allows easy access for connecting the cables.
A minimum clearance of 5cm around the device should be ensured in order to avoid
possible overheating.
Only devices that meet requirements of SELV circuits (Security Extra Low Voltage) in
accordance with EN60950 standard should be connected to the interfaces of the
DuraMAR-2150.
All connection cable plugs must be screwed or locked to the housing.
To maintain the Protection class, the connectors of the external cable must be adequately
sealed and every unused connector must be covered.
Pay attention that all connected cable, particularly the power cables, are positioned in
areas where people or machinery can get entangled on it or eventually to crush him/it.
Vehicle power should only be connected after the installation of the system has been
completed.
All unused cables should be isolated or removed if possible.
The cables must be shielded and the shields have to be grounded on both sides.
The system must be connected to ground using the connection terminal in Rear Panel with
the shortest possible connection (max 20cm) using a low resistance cable.
