Event Rules & Regulations
1. No cancellations or changes in race category due to personal circumstances
are allowed after applying for the race. Also, no refunds will be given for excess or
duplicate payment of fees.
2. No refunds of entry fees or administrative fees are given if the event is shortened
or canceled due to earthquake, storm, snowfall, incident, accident, epidemic, or the
like, or for any reason for which the organizer is not at fault.
3. The organizer takes no responsibility whatsoever for any entrant who arrives late
due to delays in public transportation on the day of the event or the day prior to the
event, nor for road traffic conditions or the like.
4. The entrant agrees not to seek a refund or compensation from the organizer for
any transportation or accommodations costs associated with participation in the
event nor for any reason related to a daily allowance.
5. The entrant pledges that he/she is free of any heart ailments or other physical
illnesses, watch his/her health, and train sufficiently for the race. The entrant also
pledges to take responsibility for himself/herself with regard to injury, accident,
loss or theft, or the like that may be incurred during the event. If, on the day of the
event, the entrant feels ill, he/she should be courageous and withdraw from the
race.
6. The entrant agrees to immediately abide by instructions given by the organizer to
stop running when the organizer has ruled that some kind of interference prevents
the continuation of the race. The entrant also agrees to abide by the organizer’s
instructions with regard to safety management and running of the event.
7. The entrant agrees to accept first-aid treatment during the event if he/she
becomes ill or injured. The organizer takes no responsibility for the methods or
effects of that treatment.
8. The entrant agrees to exempt the organizer from responsibility due to accident,
loss, injury or illness incurred during the event, and will not sue for damage
compensation or the like. The entrant also acknowledges that compensation falls
within the scope of the insurance provided by the organizer through the event.
9. The entrant agrees that his/her family members, relatives, guardians (if
the entrant is underage), or team members (for team entries) accepts his/her
participation in the event.
10. No person is allowed to join the event using falsified information on the
application regarding his/her age, gender, or other details. Nor is anyone other than
the applicant allowed to run (in place of the applicant). Such actions will result in
disqualification. Any awards will be revoked, and the person will be denied future
entry into the race; the entrant also agrees to abide by such decisions by the
organizer. Furthermore, the organizers will not be responsible for aid or repayment
to anyone who uses falsified information or attempts to run in place of another
applicant.
11. The organizer takes no responsibility whatsoever for any application delays
due to problems involving the postal delivery services, Internet devices, or lines of
transmission.
12. Applying through the Internet may not be possible from certain devices or
browsers.
13. The entrant consents to the use, broadcast, or placement of any video, photos,
articles or records from the event (personal information such as name, age, gender,
records, likenesses, etc.) in newspapers or magazines, on TV, the Internet, in
pamphlets, etc. Also, the organizer holds the publication and use rights.
14. Entrants are prohibited during the event (including on the race course) from
displaying on his/her person a company name, product name, or other design,
trademark, or image for the purpose of advertising.
15. Excreting outdoors violates penal laws. Please use the portable toilets provided
by the organizer during the race, or public toilets or other facilities provided by

local volunteers. Many officials and runners will be participating in the event from
outside of Japan. Please adhere strictly to local public etiquette and rules.
16. Receipt for Entry Fees, etc.
• For payment by credit card
No receipt will be issued. Please use the statement issued by the credit card
company or invoice.
• For payment at convenience store
No receipt will be issued. The record of payment serves as a receipt.
17. Applicants’ personal information is handled in accordance with the
organizer’s privacy policy as listed below.
Privacy Policy
• The organizer abides by all laws and ordinances concerning the protection
of personal information and handles the personal information of participants
according to this privacy policy. The information is used to improve services
to event participants and to provide services such as providing information on
participation and notifying individuals about records. Personal information may be
used to contact the individual to confirm details about the application.
• Personal information may be supplied to an outside organization for emergency
purposes to protect the life of the participant or to ensure his/her safety.
18. Please do not park on the road or at public or private facilities near the venue
without the permission of the facility owner. Illegally parked vehicles may be towed
away. Towing costs must be borne by the vehicle owner.
19. Please follow the instructions of the organizer with regard to other matters
pertaining to the event.
20. In addition to the application terms and conditions above, the organizer also
adheres to event rules and regulations specified elsewhere. (In the event of a
contradiction, the event rules and regulations take precedence.)

■Clothing
Please wear clothing that allows your number card to be seen clearly.
*Please attach your number card to your outermost layer of clothing.
●The area around Mt. Fuji is prone to sudden changes in weather
and can also become cold very quickly. For runners who will take
longer than 3 hours to complete the race, we recommend that you
bring both short- and long-sleeved shirts. Also, please do not forget
to warm up before the start of the race.

●Seven souvenir shops have been designated as changing areas. They
are available for use from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm.
●There are approximately 300 toilets available for use located around the
area of the Main Event Space – portable toilets and toilets of souvenir
shops. The portable toilets have a tendency to become crowded before
the start of the race, so please prepare accordingly.

■Timing Chip
6:30 am – 8:45 am
●The included timing chip will be used to record your time
during the race.
*Running without your chip or losing it during the race will result
in you being unable to receive a certificate of completion.
*Runners who have lost or forgotten their number card or timing
chip on race day are instructed to receive replacements at the
lost number card/chip information area at a cost of ¥1,500. It is
located at the reception headquarters inside the participation
prize reception tent on both November 26 and 27.

■Number Card
●JAAF-registered runners and medical workers will receive
two number cards, one each for the front and back. All other
runners will receive one number card. Please attach it in a
place that your number can be easily seen by event staff.
●Please confirm that the name and number on your card are
accurate.

Necessary Items
■Competition Rules
(1) The competition rules adhere to the 2016
Japan Association of Athletics Federations’
regulations and this event’s regulations.
(2) As a rule, runners are to run on the left side of
the road (on the right in some sections).
(3) R unners who do not reach a checkpoint
before the cut-off time must retire from the
race. Checkpoint times are listed under
“Checkpoint Times” on p. 6.
(4) The time limit for the race is six hours from the
starting signal (“gun time”) at which time the
race is cut off.
(5) If the referee determines that a competitor
is unable to continue the race or if a runner
interferes with another competitor (by running
backwards or irregularly, etc.), that competitor
may be disqualified from the race.
(6) The official record of the event is the time from
the starting signal.
(7) R unning alongside another runner to set
a pace is prohibited, except for approved
individuals accompanying a person with
an impediment. It is also prohibited to run
alongside a vehicle.
■Important
(1) Please manage your physical condition on
the day before the race. If during the race
your condition deteriorates, please have the
courage to quit the race. Also, if you notice a
runner having trouble, please tell the nearest
official.
(2) T he organizer takes no responsibility
whatsoever for illness or injury, loss, or other
accident, except for first-aid treatment.
(3) No special drinks (drinks prepared for specific
individuals) cannot be left at the water
stations.
(4) The organizer takes no responsibility for any

trouble that occurs due to drinking fluids or
consuming foods outside of designated water
stations.
(5) If using a portable music player or the like,
please listen at a volume at which you can still
hear the instructions of staff.
(6) It is dangerous to stop suddenly during the
race to take photos or for other reasons.
Please be aware of the runners around you
and enjoy the race.
(7) You will be disqualified if you are found to
have gone to the toilet outside of designated
toilets during the race.

Timing mats are placed every 5 km and at the halfway
point as a means of recording runners' times. They are
placed so that you will pass over them naturally as you
run the designated course. Failure to pass over the
mats may result in failure to record your time and lead
to disqualification. Those who drop out before finishing

In order to prevent risk and ensure the safety of runners, checkpoints are located
at the locations listed above.
●Runners who remain on the course after the checkpoint closing times are asked
to either board the bus at the next checkpoint or the collection bus at the end of
the runners' line. Runners who board the bus will be let off at the runner bus
drop-off area (see page 7) located at the Full Marathon Main Event Space.
●Even before the checkpoint closing time, if you have been deemed clearly unable
to proceed to the next checkpoint by judges or medical staff, you will be directed
to withdraw from the race.
●The number cards of runners unable to pass through the checkpoints will be
collected. Please follow the instructions of the judges. You will be allowed to take
your timing chip home with you.
■Dropping Out
If you wish to withdraw from the race, please raise your hand
and notify nearby staff.
●Traffic restrictions will be lifted for parts of the course in accordance with the
closing of each checkpoint and a collection bus will be put into operation. If this
bus catches up to you, you will be considered withdrawn (disqualified) from the
race. At that time, please board the bus immediately.

Sports News Special Edition:
Complete Record of All Runners
A certificate detailing your official time (gross time) as well
as your reference times from when you crossed the
starting line (net time), split time every 5 km, and halfway
point time will be sent to each runner along with a special
edition of the Nikkan Sports News detailing the times of
every participant. (expected delivery: late December)
The top three male and female runners out of all
runners, including both general runners and those
registered with the JAAF, will receive invitations to
participate in a sister marathon overseas.
*The certificate of record will be issued only to runners who
complete the race within the time limit. Runners who finished
after the time limit or withdrew before completion will not be
issued a certificate.

Reservations for the Limited Express
Fujisan Marathon and Rapid Fujisan
Marathon trains can be made easily
using Eki-net!
Pre-reservation for Shinkansen and limited
express train reserved seating tickets on JR lines
nationwide (with some exceptions) is possible
via Eki-net one month and one week prior to the
boarding date.

*Even in the event of pre-reservation, the actual
sale date of the tickets is one month prior to the
boarding date at 10:00 am. Tickets may not be
available in the event of full booking, etc.

• Train delays on race day may make it unable for you to make your predetermined transfer.
• In the event that the race is cancelled and train services are still operational, there will be a
cancellation fee predetermined by JR charged when refunding the cost of your reserved
seating ticket. Thank you for your understanding.
• Significant timetable delays may occur due to operation status, etc. on race
day. Please note that this may cause you to miss the start of the race.

A direct chartered bus to Kawaguchiko Station departing
from either Shinjuku or Yokohama Stations on the morning
of race day. Only an 8-minute walk from the station to the
venue! Bus tour participants will have access to their own
exclusive changing rooms and baggage drop-off areas!

The exclusive luggage
drop-off and changing
rooms are very popular!
Access Tour participants will have exclusive
access to a luggage drop-off and changing area
at the Funatsu Community Center located in the
courtyard of Funatsu Elementary school, available
for use free of charge.
When dropping off your luggage, you will be
asked to show your tour participation certificate;
please do not forget to have it with you. Without
it, you will be unable to make use of this area.
Please take your hand baggage (in the plastic
baggage drop-off bag for runners) to the baggage
drop-off area located at the awards ceremony
venue (Hirahama parking area).
