Brahe Djäknar
Brahe Djäknar (ブラーへ・チェクナル) はフィンランド、トゥルク市にあるオーボ・アカデ ミ
ー大学において1937年に創立された男声合唱団です。 初代指揮者としてJohn Rosas (ヨ ン・ロ
サス)、その後1955年からGottfrid Gräsbeck (ゴットフリード・グレースベック)、 1991年からは
現在の指揮者であるUlf Långbacka (ウルフ・ロンバッカ) が務めています。 2000年のロンバッカ
の公暇中はHeikki Seppänen (ヘイッキ・セッパネン) が、2010年の フォークオペラ、Henrik och
Häxhammaren (直訳:ヘンリックと魔女のハンマー) の作曲活 動時にはMartin Segerstråle (マルテ
ィン・セーゲルストローレ) が彼の代わりとして指揮者 を務めました。 現在、団員50人で活動
しており、そのほとんどはオーボ・アカデミー大学 の学生です。 当合唱団は数々の国際合唱
コンクールへの参加を果たし、最近では2009年にフィンラン ド、タンペレ市で開催された国際
合唱祭にて見事金賞受賞を成し遂げました。 また、2011 年の秋にトゥルク城の中庭で公演され
たロンバッカ作曲によるオペラHenrik och Häxhammarenにも参加しました。 今日に至るまで多
数のCDを発表しており、最近では2007年に『Vintern rasat』 (直訳:冬 の怒り)、今年4月には当
合唱団75周年記念CDを発表しています。 また、待降節 (キリスト の降誕を待ち望む期間) にお
けるトゥルク大聖堂でのオーボ・アカデミー大学の女声合唱 団Florakören (フローラチョーレン
)、そして管弦楽団Akademiska Orkestern (アカデミース カ・オルケステルン) との共演は毎年満
席になるほどの人気を博し、4月末の祝日の際の演 奏はラジオとテレビでフィンランド中に生
放送されています。 加えて当合唱団からは四重 奏としての活動も行っています。 フィンラン
ド国内にとどまらず海外にも意欲的に活動の幅を広げており、最近ではオー ストリア、イタリ
ア、アメリカ、北欧にて、そして今年、合唱団創立75周年記念の重要な 年に日本での公演ツア
ーを果たすことができました。 その他の創立記念の活動として、シ ベリウス博物館での展覧
会、祝祭ウィーク中のトゥルクコンサートホールでの演奏など 様々なイベントを開催していま
す。
The student choir Brahe Djäknar (BD) was founded in 1937. Brahe Djäknar is the men’s choir at the Åbo
Akademi University and has
been conducted over the years by John Rosas (1937–55), Gottfrid
Gräsbeck (1955–90) and from 1991 by Ulf Långbacka. During the academic year 2000– 2001,
Långbacka was on leave and he was substituted by Heikki Seppänen. In 2010 Långbacka composed the
folk opera Henrik och Häxhammaren (’Henrik and the Hammer of Witches’), and during that time the
choir was conducted by Martin Segerstråle. BD currently consists of about 50 active singers, of which the
vast majority are studying at Åbo Akademi. All of the faculties of the university are represented among
the singers.
Brahe Djäknar has successfully participated in international choral competitions, the latest – Tampereen
Sävel 2009 – in Tampere, Finland, where the choir was rewarded with a cash prize, and it finished among
the best choirs in the competition. In the autumn of 2011 the choir participated in the folk opera, Henrik
och Häxhammaren which was performed in
the courtyard of the medieval castle in Turku.
The choir has also issued many CDs. The latest record was Vintern rasat (‘The Winter’s Raged’),
published in 2007. In April this year a new album was issued in the honour the choir's 75th anniversary
to honor.The choir frequently collaborates with Flora Choir and University Orchestra. A good example
of this cooperation is the traditional Christmas concerts that weekend before the first Advent is given in
a crowded Turku Cathedral. Alone or together with Flora Choir, BD has also toured extensively both at
home and abroad. In recent years the choir has up-entry into Austria, Italy, North America, Russia and
in various parts of Scandinavia. This year brings the choir singing with joy all the way to the rising sun
country in the east when the anniversary tour will be held in August-September in Japan.Among Brahe
Djäknars annual performances Notably Valborgsmässoaftonens RECORDING of spring on Vartiovuori
in Turku who live on both television and radio.The chorus is also a living kvartettradition maintained
and nurtured by the many quartets by the choir gets. In recent years, BD has also been seen and heard
as singing waiters during various festivities in the Turku area.Year 2012 will be a milestone in Brahe
Djäknars history, as the choir celebrates its 75th anniversary. A number of events are planned for the
year: a commemorative exhibition at the Sibelius Museum, record releases and a commemorative week in
May, culminating in an anniversary concert at the Turku Concert Hall 12.5.
Ulf Långbacka
指揮者の紹介 Ulf Långbacka (ウルフ・ロンバッカ 1957—) はオーボ・アカデミー大学で音楽学
を勉強 し、シベリウス音楽院で指揮法とピアノと声楽を勉強しました。 ロンバッカは指揮法
を Peter Erdei, Eric Ericsson, Harry Christophersに師事し、1987年に課程を修了しました。 ロン
バッカは室内合唱団Cantabile (1987—1990) とKey Ensemble (2005—2008) の指揮者を務めま し
た。 1991年にロンバッカはオーボ・アカデミー大学の音楽講師になると同時に、Brahe Djäknar
(ブラーヘ・チェクナル) とFlorakören (フローラチョーレン) の指揮者に就任しまし た。 ロンバ
ッカ指導の下、合唱団は意欲的に活動し名だたる国内、国際合唱際において優 秀な成績を収
めています。 ロンバッカは優れた作曲家としても知られています。 数々の合唱曲や室内楽、
劇音楽を 作曲しています。また、オーボ・アカデミー大学の80周年記念祭においてDet Inre
Ljuset (中の光) というカンタータを作曲しました。 2010年に、ロンバッカはDan Henrikssonの
リブレットをもとにHenrik och Haxhammaren (直訳:ヘンリックと魔女のハンマー) というフ
ォークオペラを作曲しました。 当オペラは 2011年の8月末にBrahe Djäknar, Åbolands Kammarkör,
Akademiska Orkestern によってトゥル ク城の中庭で公演されました。
Ulf Långbacka (b. 1957) has studied musicology at the Åbo Akademi University and conducting, piano
and singing at the Sibelius Academy. He received his diploma in choral conducting in 1987. He has
participated in numerous conducting courses in Finland and abroad under the guidance of Peter Erdei,
Eric Ericsson and Harry Christophers among others. He has directed among others the chamber choirs
Cantabile 1987–1990 and Key Ensemble 2005–2008.
In 1991 he was appointed
as lecturer in music at the Åbo Akademi University and conductor of the
choirs Flora- kören and Brahe Djäknar, where he sang from 1977 to 1980 as a first base. Since 1991 he
has with some short interruptions served as the conductor of the choirs. Under his leadership the choirs
have been very active and achieved great success in various national and international choral
competitions.
Ulf Långbacka has also frequently been trusted as a composer. He has written numerous commissioned
pieces and composed music for all types of choirs, chamber music, orchestral music and theatrical music,
including the promotional cantata Det Inre Ljuset (’The Inner Light’), which he composed for the 80th
anniversary of the Åbo Akademi University in 1998.
In 2010, Långbacka was on leave and composed the opera Henrik och Häxhammaren on the basis of a
libretto by Dan Henriksson. The opera was performed by Brahe Djäknar together with the chamber choir
Åbolands kammakör and the orchestra Akademiska orkestern in the courtyard of the mediaval castle in
Turku in August-September 2011.
