Focus!2013 ～世界で輝く城西生～ ２０１４年４月０９日 発行 vol.５ ２学期が始まり、新しい生活をスタートさせている坂本さん。みなぎる意欲は変わりません。残りわずかになってきた アメリカでの学校生活が最後まで充実することを祈るばかりです。 また、オレゴンの冬はたくさんの雪が降るようです。遊びや食を通して日本の文化を伝えることも忘れず、国際交流 を真に果たす日々を過ごしています。 高校 2 年生 坂本 真美さん【アメリカ・Sweet Home High School（本校姉妹校）】 「クラゲみたい？」 The second semester started on February 1. Everyone has a different schedule from last semester. I decided to take Psychology, English, Advance Sewing, History Through Film, Space Science, American History, and Choir. You can choose 7 classes from many classes by yourself in American schools. It seems like the universities. It’s really interesting for me because high school students usually can’t choose classes in Japan. I have been interested in Psychology for a long time, so I suppose this is a good opportunity for me. I have been making my prom dress this semester in Advance Sewing. I chose a cute fabric and other stuff with my host family when we went to Bend at the end of January. My host mom’s brother and his wife live in Bend. They invited us to watch the “Super Bowl” together. The “Super Bowl” is the most popular football game here. Actually, my host sister and I weren’t interested in the “Super Bowl”, so we were watching “Shreck” when the adults watched the “Super Bowl”. This football game is a big event here. We had so much snow this month, so Sara (who is my host sister) and I made an igloo in the yard. We didn’t have anything to do, so we made German pancakes and Daifuku. A German pancake looks like a crepe. It’s delicious. Anyway, I brought Daifuku to my swim team. One girl said “Wow, it looks like a jelly fish!” I think Japanese food is strange for them but everyone who ate Daifuku seemed to really like it. So I was glad. We had “Milli Vanili” last week. “Milli Vanili” is one of the events at SHHS. We did lip syncing and dancing at this event. Not everyone has to do this, but my friends asked me to join this event, so I joined them. We did one of the songs from “Pitch Perfect”. “Pitch Perfect” is a famous movie here. I didn’t have enough time to do the practice because I had swim practice. However, I did practice at my house, so our performance was awesome. Our team got 2nd place. I had the rap part in the song. Actually, it was awesome! Because I made the audience laugh. It became one of my good memories. I will leave in about 3 months. I want to try everything before I leave America! ２月１日から２学期が始まりました。２学期は１学期と違う時間割になります。私は心理学、英 語、アドバンスソーイング、映画から見る歴史、宇宙学、アメリカ史、そして合唱のクラスを取 ることに決めました。アメリカの学校では、たくさんのクラスの中から７つのクラスを大学のよ うに自分で選ぶことができます。日本の高校では、普通自分でクラスは決められないのでとても 面白いです。私はずっと心理学に興味があったので、これは私にとって良い機会だと思います。 今学期、私は、アドバンスソーイングのクラスで自分のプロムドレスを作っています。１月の終 わりに、ホストファミリーと一緒にベンドに行ったときに、可愛い生地と他の色々なものを選び 城西大学附属城西中学・高等学校 〒171-0044 東京都豊島区千早 1-10-26 ※本記事の文章および画像の無断転載を禁ず ました。ホストママの弟さんと奥さんがベンドに住んでいて、一緒に“Super Bowl”を見るため に家に招待してくれました。 “Super Bowl”は、アメリカで最も人気のあるアメリカンフットボー ルの試合です。実を言うと、私とホストシスターはアメリカンフットボールに興味がなかったの で、大人たちが試合を観ている間は「シュレック」を観ていました。アメリカンフットボール は、アメリカではとにかく大きなイベントのようです。 今月は雪がたくさん降りました。Sara（ホストシスタ ーです）と私はカマクラを作りました。雪で外出する ことが出来ず、私たちは時間が沢山あったので、ジャ ーマンパンケーキと大福を作りました。ジャーマンパ ンケーキはクレープに似ていて、美味しかったです。 大福は、後日、スイミングの子たちに持って行きまし た。すると一人の女の子が「Wow！クラゲみたいだ ね。 」と言いました。彼女たちにとっては日本の食べ物 は不思議なものに感じたようです。とはいえ、大福を 食べた子たちは、味を気にいってくれたようなので嬉しかったです。 先週は“Milli Vanili”がありました。 “Milli Vanili”はスイートホーム高校のイベントの一つ です。このイベントでは口パクとダンスをします。全員が出る必要はないのですが、友達に出て 欲しいと頼まれたので、参加しました。私たちは “Pitch Perfect”の曲の一つをやりました。 “Pitch Perfect”はアメリカでは有名な映画です。私はスイミングの練習があったので、十分な 時間が取れませんでしたが、家で練習したので、私たちのパフォーマンスは最高だったと思いま す。私たちのチームは２位を取りました。私はラップの担当があって、みんなの笑いをとりまし た。実際、自分でもすごかったと思います！このイベントは良い思い出になりました。 残り約３ヶ月です。アメリカから旅立つ前に色んな事に挑戦したいです！ 城西大学附属城西中学・高等学校 〒171-0044 東京都豊島区千早 1-10-26 ※本記事の文章および画像の無断転載を禁ず
