2014 Highlights
The event was a resounding success, with more than 230 participants from 14 countries, including
Japan, the United States, Germany, India, Korea and China. The attendees exchanged their views on the
energy storage industry and discussed a wide array of important subjects, such as best practices, new
business models, storage applications in smart cities, and the latest storage technology trends. Topics
during the Financial Dialogue session were bankability, risk reduction for renewable power plants, and
the ecosystem for financing energy storage. Nine exhibitors and sponsors — among them DuPont, NEC,
NGK, SEI and Bloomberg — presented an array of products, services, and storage solutions.
A special highlight was the final panel discussion, which included a remarkably international group
of globally respected participants. Included in the discussion were policymakers Keiichiro Asao from
the Japanese Parliament, and Melicia Charles, who is advisor to Commissioner Carla Peterman from
California’s Public Utility Commission. Their conversation included industry representatives such as IBM
Japan’s Manager of Smarter Cities, Hisakazu Okamura, as well as members of the financial community
like Vice President of Deutsche Bank’s Expert Team Greentech, Felix Holz, and also Michio Matsuda,
Senior Business Development Manager at Munich Re, Japan.
日本、米国、ドイツ、中国、インド、韓国をはじめ、世界 14 か国・230 を超える関係者が会議・展示会に参加し、盛況裡の
うちに終了した。
ESSJ では、エネルギー貯蔵産業における規制、ビジネスモデル、成功事例、スマートシティへの応用、最新貯蔵技術について、
併催の VDEFDJ では、バンカビリティ（融資適格性）
、再生可能エネルギー発電所におけるリスク削減、エネルギー貯蔵資金
調達システムに関し、活発な議論と意見交換がなされた。
出展者・スポンサーは、デュポン㈱、日本電気㈱、日本ガイシ㈱、住友電気工業㈱、ブルームバーグ・ニュー・エナジー・ファ
イナンスなど 9 社を数え、貯蔵ソリューション・製品・サービスを紹介した。
特筆すべきは、政治経済界から国際色豊かな一流のパネリストを迎え、プログラムの最後に行われたディスカッションだ。あさ
お慶一郎衆議院議員、カリフォルニア州公益事業委員会 M. チャールス顧問、岡村久和スマーター・シティ事業部長（日本アイ・
ビー・エム）、F. フォルツ副社長（ドイツ銀行）、松田道郎シニアビジネスディベロップメントマネージャー（ミューニックリージャ
パンサービス）が、お互いに、そして参加者とともに熱い討論を展開した。
