Takahiro Shinyo

Born in Kagawa, Japan, Dr. Shinyo graduated from the
School of Law, Osaka University, and joined the Japanese
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1972. His first post overseas was at
the Embassy of Japan in Germany. In 2006, he became a
member of the permanent mission of Japan to the United
Nations. Then, from 2008 to February 2012, he served as the
Japanese Ambassador to Germany. Since April 2012, he has
served as a Vice President at Kwansei Gakuin University, the
general manager of the KGU International Strategy Office,
and a professor at KGU.

Born in Hannover, Germany, Mr. Manke studied English and
German literature, obtaining a master’s degree and gaining
a qualification to teach at Gymnasium level. He taught
German as a foreign language for several years. From 1991
to April 2012, he directed the Language section and the
International Exchange section of Goethe-Institut in Korea,
Singapore, Australia, and the Netherlands. Since May 2012,
he has served as Director at Goethe-Institut Osaka.
Claudine Fréchet
(Dean of Language and Literature Department, the Catholic University of Lyon)
Ms. Fréchet received a doctoral degree with the highest
honors and published a book in 1995. She worked as an
assistant for the Institut Pierre Gardette at the Catholic
University of Lyon, and became director of the institute in
2006. Now she teaches at French Language and Culture
Institute as dean of the institute, serving as Dean of the
Language and Literature Department as well.
