The Remote Agent for Windows Servers (Remote Agent) is available for computers that
run Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition or Windows XP Professional 64-bit
Edition and have one of the following processors:
AMD Opteron

The x64 version of the Remote Agent is available for Backup Exec 10d for Windows
Servers revision 5629 and later. The x64 Remote Agent supports:

VERITAS Volume Snapshot Provider (VSP).
◆
Backup Exec Intelligent Disaster Recovery (IDR) Option.

Backup Exec Advanced Open File Option.
The x64 Remote Agent cannot be push installed. A local installation of the Remote Agent
on the x64 computer is required.

Installing the x64 Remote Agent Using the Installation
Program
The installation program for the x64 Remote Agent is separate from the Backup Exec
installation program. In addition, the installation process is different for the x64 Remote
Agent than for the 32-bit Remote Agent. The 32-bit Remote Agent is installed locally or is
push installed to a remote computer. The x64 Remote Agent can only be installed locally
or through a mapped drive.
The x64 Remote Agent package is downloaded to the Backup Exec media server in the
default directory \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Agents\RANT64EX.
A Remote Agent serial number is required to use the x64 Remote Agent.
After you install the x64 Remote Agent, you can use the Windows Add/Remove
Programs feature to modify or uninstall the option.

To install the x64 version of the Remote Agent:
1. On the remote computer, map a drive letter to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers
media server using the following path: \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup
Exec\NT\Agents\RANT64EX. You can also type a UNC path.
2. Double-click setup.exe.
3. Click Next.
4. Select the type of installation you want, either Complete or Custom.
The Complete option installs the x64 version of the Remote Agent and the Advanced
Open File Option. Select the Custom option if you do not want to install the
Advanced Open File Option at this time. You can install it later if needed.
5. Click Next.
6. If you selected the Complete option, go to step 7.
If you selected the Custom option, select the option you want to install, and then click
Next. You cannot clear the Remote Agent selection because it is a required component
and you cannot change the installation destination.
7. Click Install.
8. If you installed the Advanced Open File Option, reboot the computer.

Installing and Uninstalling the x64 Remote Agent and
Advanced Open File Option Using a Command Script
An alternative way to install and uninstall the x64 Remote Agent and the Advanced Open
File Option is to use command script files. The command script files are included in the
x64 Remote Agent download. Use setupaax64 and setupaofox64 to install the x64 Remote
Agent and Advanced Open File Option. Use Uninstallaaofox64 to uninstall both the x64
Remote Agent and the Advanced Open File Option. The uninstall command script
removes both options together. You cannot remove the options separately using the
command script.

To install the x64 Remote Agent and Advanced Open File Option using a command
script:
1. Map a drive letter to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers media server using the
following path: \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup
Exec\NT\Agents\RANT64EX.

2. Do one of the following:

To install the x64 Remote Agent, double-click setupaax64.

Installation de x64 Remote Agent à l'aide du Programme

d'un composant obligatoire. Vous ne pouvez pas non plus modifier le chemin de
destination de l'installation.
7. Cliquez sur Installer.
8. Si vous avez installé la fonction Advanced Open File Option, vous devez redémarrer
l'ordinateur.

Installieren des x64-Remote Agent mit dem
Installationsprogramm
Der x64-Remote Agent wird getrennt von Backup Exec installiert. Zudem unterscheiden
sich die Installationsprozesse für den x64-Remote Agent und den 32-Bit-Remote Agent.
Der 32-Bit-Remote Agent wird lokal installiert oder auf einem remoten Computer
push-installiert. Der x64-Remote Agent kann nur lokal oder über ein zugeordnetes
Laufwerk installiert werden.
Das x64-Remote Agent-Paket wird standardmäßig auf den Backup Exec-Medienserver in
das Verzeichnis \Programme\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Agents\RANT64EX
heruntergeladen. Für die Verwendung des x64-Remote Agent ist eine Remote
Agent-Seriennummer erforderlich.
Nach der Installation des x64-Remote Agent können Sie die Komponente über die

Instalación de x64 Remote Agent con el programa de instalación
