「平和の鐘を鳴り響かせよ！」

「主は国々の争いを裁き、多くの民を戒められる。彼らは剣を打
ち直して鋤（すき）とし、槍（やり）を打ち直して鎌（かま）と
する。国は国に向かって剣を上げず、もはや戦うことを学ばな
い。」（イザヤ書２：４―５）
この預言者イザヤの「平和の宣言」は NY の国連の玄関に刻
まれていますが、一体世界平和はいつ実現するでしょうか？相次
ぐテロ事件は人々の心に益々憎しみを植えつけていくと思われま
す。さらに、戦争の傷跡と他国への憎しみは簡単に癒されるもの
では無いことを、日本とアジア諸国の関係の中に見せつけられる
この頃です。今年も８月第一日曜日に我々の教会では「平和聖日
礼拝」を守り「平和を創り出す者になるように」真剣に祈りまし
た。まず、家庭、職場、地域社会、教会でお互いの間に和解と平
安を作りだすように努力しなければなりません。国々の間の和解
と平和への第一歩が踏み出せるようにと祈ります。キリストによ
って憎しみを赦しへと導かれたいと強く願う者です。８月１５日
の敗戦記念日、そして 9 月には「９・１１」追悼日が訪れます。
戦争で、テロ事件や紛争で、無数の命が失われ、悲しみの涙が流
されてきた事を思うと同時に人間の罪によって失われた貴い命を
悲しんで涙を流しておられる神様の愛を思います
「わが民の娘の滅びによって、わたしの目には涙の川が流れてい
ます。」（口語訳：哀歌３：４８）
「苦汁と欠乏の中で貧しくさすらったときのことを決して忘れ
ず、覚えているからこそ、わたしの魂は沈み込んでいても、再び
心を励まし、なお待ち望む。主の慈しみは決して絶えない。主の
憐れみは決して尽きない。それは朝ごとに新たになる。あなたの
真実はそれほど深い。」（哀歌 3：19－23）
「神は記憶である」とプロセス神学者は言いました。イエスの苦
難を信仰的に語り継ぐことは、同時に、歴史上多くの無名者の苦
しみを忘れずに覚えている事であり、無数の人々の悲しみを記憶
してそれを語るということです。台湾の神学者・宋泉盛(ChoanSeng Song)は「第三世界の神学は不正と抑圧に対す「怒りの神
学(an angry theology)」であり、アジアの神学は「泣く神学
(a weeping theology) である。」と述べています。(C．S．
Song, “Tell Us Our Names” P.10 )。
正義：「人よ、何が善であり、主が何をお前に求めておられるか
は、お前に告げられている。正義を行い、慈しみを愛し、へりく
だって神と共に歩むこと、これである。」（ミカ書６：８）
人間関係で最も難しいのは自分の過ちを素直に認め「ごめんなさ
い」とあやまる事です。この一言が言えず、他人のせいにしたり、
神様の責任にするのが我々です。「主なる神は人に呼びかけて言
われた、『食べるなと、命じておいた木から、あなたは取って食
べたのか。』人は答えた、『わたしと一緒にしてくださったあの
女が、木から取ってくれたので、わたしは食べたのです。』そこ
“Let the Bells of Peace Ring”

“He shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate
for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into
plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation
shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they
learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk
in the light of the Lord. (Isaiah 2:2-5)
Isaiah’s famous prophecy of “world peace” is written on
the entrance of United Nations building in New York. If we
walk in God’s path, God shall judge between the nations.
The people shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their
spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword
against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. After
World War II, the United Nations was organized in 1945
and these words of Isaiah are used as a theme for world
peace. Our church observes “The Peace Sunday” on the
first Sunday of August every year to pray for peace and
reconciliation between and among family, friends, church,
community and the world today. In NY I observed again the
anniversary dates of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day,
August 6 & 9, and end of WWII on August 15 this year.
Forthcoming is September 9/11 Memorial Day…
“My eyes flow with rivers of tears because of the
destruction of my people.” (Lamentations 3:48)
The thought of my affliction and my homelessness is
wormwood and gall! My soul continually thinks of it and
is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and
therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the LORD
never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are
new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3:19-23)
Process theologians said, “God is Remembrance.” Let
us remember suffering of the many anonymous people.
Taiwanese theologian Dr. Choan-Seng Song said, “Our
theology must somehow witness to God’s agony, to express
God’s hope in human hope… Third World theology has
appeared on the world theological scene as an angry
theology. It is angry at injustice and oppression. Our
theology also has to be a weeping theology. We see too
much misery around us－endless wars, bottomless poverty,
cruel suppression of human rights. We hear God weep,
lament, and sigh.” --C.S. Song, “Tell Us Our Names” p.10

で主なる神は女に言われた、『あなたはなんということをしたの
です。」女は答えた、『へびがわたしをだましたのです。それで
わたしは食べました。』（口語訳：創世記３：９―１３）
「自分に罪がないと言うなら、自らを欺いており、真理はわた
したちの内にありません。自分の罪を公に言い表すなら、神は真
実で正しい方ですから、罪を赦し、あらゆる不義からわたしたち
を清めてくださいます。たとえ罪を犯しても、御父のもとに弁
護者、正しい方、イエス・キリストがおられます。このかたこ
そ、わたしたちの罪、いや、わたしたちの罪ばかりでなく、全世
界の罪を償ういけにえです。」（ヨハネの手紙第一、１：８―
２：２）教会生活でも家族関係・友人関係でも、さらに国家間で
も「ごめんなさい」の一言が和解・平安・友情をもたらす第一歩
ではないでしょうか。

One of the most difficult thing is to admit fault and
confess our sin. We easily accuse others and even God. Yet
it is our sin and our responsibility.
“But the Lord God called to the man, and said to him,
Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you
not to eat? The man said, “The woman whom you gave to
be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.”
Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that
you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent tricked
me, and I ate it. (Genesis 3:9-13)
和解：「あなたが祭壇に供え物を捧げようとし、兄弟が自分に反
感を持っているのをそこで思い出したなら、その供え物を祭壇の
前に置き、まず行って兄弟と仲直りをし、それから帰ってきて供
え物を捧げなさい。」（マタイ福音書５：２３―２４）
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and
the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he who is
faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us
from all unrighteousness… But if anyone does sin, we
have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and
not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
(1 John 1:8-2:2)
Let us therefore remember to say “I’m sorry” to our
families, friends and to our church family. Also, “We are
sorry” to another countries and be reconciled to deepen our
relationship with one another as a worldwide family of God.

「アパ・ルーム」2013 年７・８月号の「8 月 6 日」に藤本治
祥牧師（ＳＭＪ初代デイレクター/教団宣教師、米国メソジスト教
派引退牧師、カリフォルニア在住）の意味深い奨励が掲載されて
いましたので、以下に紹介させて頂きます。
「毎週の礼拝の中で、私たちは『イエス・キリストの御名によっ
て、あなたは赦されています』と声をかけ合って牧師に、またお
互いに応答します。この応答は説教と同様、礼拝の核心をなすも
のです。パウロは互いに赦し合うことの大切さを明確にしていま
す。しかし、私は赦すことに葛藤を抱えていました。
私が 14 歳の時に妹を含めて多数の人々を原爆で殺したアメ
リカ人を、私は憎んでいました。長年、私は彼らを赦すことも、
彼らがしたことを忘れようと思っても、出来ませんでした。しか
し、私は聖書を読み始め、「父よ、彼らをお赦しください。自分
が何をしているのか知らないのです(ルカ２３：３４)」というイ
エスの言葉にチャレンジを受け、そして変えられました。・・・
私にとって、赦しはイエスを通して神から力強く決定的に与えら
れたので、原爆がもたらした憎しみを打ち破る事が出来たので

RECONCILIATION
Leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be
reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and
offer your gift. (Matthew 5:24)
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
(Ephesians 4:32)
Rev. Haruyoshi Fujimoto, SMJ First Director and
Missionary from Japan, UMC Retired Minister in California
wrote for the august 6 article for the July-August 2013 issue
of the devotional booklet, The Upper Room:
“Each Sunday during worship we respond to the
minister and to one another by saying, “ In the name of
Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.” This is the core of the
service as well as the message. Paul made it clear that
forgiving one another is important. But I’ve struggled
with forgiving.
I hated the Americans who massacred so many people,
including my sister, with the atomic bomb when I was 14.
For many years I could neither forgive nor forget what
they had done. But as I started to read the Bible, I was
challenged by the words of Jesus, “Father, forgive them,
for they don’t know what they’re doing (Luke 23:34)…For
me forgiveness is given to strongly and so powerfully from
God through Jesus that it breaks through the hatred
caused by the atomic bomb.

報告：広島・長崎平和集会（宗教連合）
8 月 5 日、於・インターチャーチセンター
８月５日の広島デーに、今年はインターチャーチセンターで、
諸宗教連合による「平和の集い：広島・長崎インターフェイス追
悼式典」が開かれ１５０名程が出席しました。午後７時１５分に
「平和の鐘」が鳴らされ、黙祷が行われました。この時刻は日本
時間の８月６日午前８時１５分（原爆投下時刻）で、広島で「原
爆追悼式典」が開催されている時刻に合わせて例年鳴らされてい
ます。この「平和の鐘」は戦争の武器を溶かして作られたもので
す。例年のように諸宗教代表者たちによる祈祷などが捧げられ盛
り沢山な集会でした。フォーク・シンガーのピート・シーガー
(Pete Seeger)と原田真二（音楽家、広島平和文化大使）の歌で
盛り上がりました。Pete Seger は 2006 年にこの集会で歌ってく
れたので、94 歳になっても元気に歌われ参加者を感激させまし
た。日本でもアメリカでも「原爆」はドンドン忘れ去られ過去の
出来事になりつつあります。今年の平和集会は、様々な違い
（国、民族、言語、文化、男女、年齢、などの違い）を超えて

人々が集まり、世界の国旗を振りつつ、平和の鐘を鳴らす「積極
的な集会」となった事を嬉しく思いました。世界で唯一原爆投下
された日本人としてもっと世界平和に関心を寄せ、「平和実現」
のために勇気を持って行動するものとなりたいです。
過去 19 年間この集会を企画・実行されている中垣顕實和尚
に感謝します。他の諸宗教代表者（イスラム教、ユダヤ教、ヒン
ズー教、キリスト教、仏教、ヒンズー教）が祈祷や教典朗読など
を行いました。キリスト教代表者は昨年に引き続きテリノ尊子牧
師が担当され、

Elbogen さん）による詩の朗読もありました。例年通り、日系人
会、日本領事館、長崎市長、広島市長のメッセージが朗読され、
一同意義深く聞きました。今回は日本政府の立場を批判した長崎
市長・田上富久氏の勇気ある「長崎平和宣言」(抜粋下記)を記し
ます。今年は原爆投下から６８年目。あと 2 年で 70 年です。
今、本気で「核兵器廃絶」を目指し「世界平和」への行動を起
こすべきであると思います。「平和を実現する人々は、幸いであ
る。その人たちは神の子と呼ばれる。」（マタイ５：９）

The Annual Interfaith Peace Ceremony was held Monday,
August 5 at 5:30 p.m. The 2013 commemoration of
Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bombing was sponsored by
NY Theological Seminary, The Interchurch Center, and
supported by Interfaith Center of NY, Buddhist Council of
NY, World Peace Prayer Society (May peace Prevail on
Earth). Rev. Dr. T. Kenjitsu Nakagaki, President of the
Buddhist Council of NY has directed this event for 19 years.
Rev. Takako Terino, SMJ Director was the Christian
representative.
Other religions
represented
were Judaism,
Buddhism,
Islam, and
Hindu.
The Peace Bell rang at 7:15 p.m. (on August 6, 8:15 a.m.
in Japan, when the first atomic bomb was dropped to
Hiroshima in 1945). This Peace
Bell cast from melted weapons
of war was donated to the World
Peace Prayer Society by the War
and Peace Foundation. It was a
very meaningful ceremony. Folk
singer, Pete Seeger, (photo on
right) came to sing for the
attendees.
The messages from Japanese-American Association,
Japanese Consulate, Nagasaki Mayor and Hiroshima and
Nagasaki Mayors were read. “2013 Hiroshima Peace
Declaration” was a very powerful message for all of us. I
will include excerpts of 2013 Hiroshima Peace Declaration
below. We, especially as Japanese who are the only Abombed nation, must strive to commit ourselves to world
peace.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called
children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
長崎平和宣言（抜粋）
68年前の今日、このまちの上空にアメリカの爆撃機が一発の原子爆
弾を投下しました。熱線、爆風、放射線の威力は凄まじく、直後か
ら起こった火災は一昼夜続きました。人々が暮らしていたまちは一
瞬で廃墟となり、24万人の市民のうち15万人が傷つき、そのうち7
万4千人の方々が命を奪われました。生き残った被爆者は、68年た
った今もなお、放射線による白血病やがん発病への不安、そして深
い心の傷を抱え続けています。
このむごい兵器をつくったのは人間です。
広島と長崎で、二度までも使ったのも人間です。
核実験を繰り返し地球を汚染し続けているのも人間です。
人間はこれまで数々の過ちを犯してきました。
だからこそ忘れてはならない過去の誓いを、立ち返るべき原点を、
折にふれ確かめなければなりません。
日本政府に、被爆国としての原点に返ることを求めます。
今年4月、ジュネーブで開催された核不拡散条約（ＮＰＴ）再検
討会議準備委員会で提出された核兵器の非人道性を訴える共同声明
に、80か国が賛同しました。南アフリカなどの提案国は、わが国に
も賛同の署名を求めました。しかし、日本政府は署名せず、世界の
期待を裏切りました。人類はいかなる状況においても核兵器を使う
べきではない、という文言が受け入れられないとすれば、核兵器の
使用を状況によっては認めるという姿勢を日本政府は示したことに
なります。これは二度と、世界の誰にも被爆の経験をさせないとい
う、被爆国としての原点に反します。
インドとの原子力協定交渉の再開についても同じです。ＮＰＴに
加盟せず核保有したインドへの原子力協力は、核兵器保有国をこれ
以上増やさないためのルールを定めたＮＰＴを形骸化することにな
ります。ＮＰＴを脱退して核保有をめざす北朝鮮などの動きを正当
化する口実を与え、朝鮮半島の非核化の妨げにもなります。
日本政府には、被爆国としての原点に返ることを求めます。
非核三原則の法制化への取り組み、北東アジア非核兵器地帯検
討の呼びかけなど、被爆国としてのリーダーシップを具体的な行動
に移すことを求めます。
核兵器保有国には、ＮＰＴの中で核軍縮への誠実な努力義務が
課されています。これは世界に対する約束です。・・・
世界には今も1万7千発以上の核弾頭が存在し、その90％以上が
アメリカとロシアのものです。オバマ大統領、プーチン大統領、も

2013 Hiroshima Peace Declaration(Excerpt)
We greet the morning of the 68th return of “that day.” At
8:15 a.m., August 6, 1945, a single atomic bomb erased an
entire family. “The baby boy was safely born. Just as the
family was celebrating, the atomic bomb exploded. Showing
no mercy, it took all that joy and hope along with the new
life.”
A little boy managed somehow to survive but the
atomic bomb took his entire family. This A-bomb orphan
lived through hardship, isolation, and illness, but was never
able to have a family of his own. Today, he is a lonely old
hibakusha. “I have never once been glad I survived,” he
says, looking back. After all these years of terrible suffering,
the deep hurt remains.
A woman who experienced the
bombing at the age of eight months suffered discrimination
and prejudice. She did manage to marry, but a month later,

っと早く、もっと大胆に核弾頭の削減に取り組んでください。「核
兵器のない世界」を遠い夢とするのではなく、人間が早急に解決す 4
べき課題として、核兵器の廃絶に取り組み、世界との約束を果たす
べきです。核兵器のない世界の実現を、国のリーダーだけにまか
せるのではなく、市民社会を構成する私たち一人ひとりにもできる
ことがあります。かつて戦争が多くの人の命を奪い、心と体を深く
傷つけた事実を、戦争がもたらした数々のむごい光景を、決して忘
れない、決して繰り返さない、という平和希求の原点を忘れないた
めには、戦争体験、被爆体験を語り継ぐことが不可欠です。
若い世代の皆さん、被爆者の声を聞いたことがありますか。
「ノーモア・ヒロシマ、ノーモア・ナガサキ、ノーモア・ウォー、
ノーモア・ヒバクシャ」と叫ぶ声を。
あなた方は被爆者の声を直接聞くことができる最後の世代です。
68年前、原子雲の下で何があったのか。なぜ被爆者は未来のために
身を削りながら核兵器廃絶を訴え続けるのか。被爆者の声に耳を傾
けてみてください。そして、あなたが住む世界、あなたの子どもた
ちが生きる未来に核兵器が存在していいのか。考えてみてくださ
い。互いに話し合ってみてください。あなたたちこそが未来です。
長崎では、今年11月、「第5回核兵器廃絶－地球市民集会ナガ
サキ」を開催します。市民の力で、核兵器廃絶を被爆地から世界へ
発信します。東京電力福島第一原子力発電所の事故は、未だ収束
せず、放射能の被害は拡大しています。多くの方々が平穏な日々を
突然奪われたうえ、将来の見通しが立たない暮らしを強いられてい
ます。長崎は、福島の１日も早い復興を願い、応援していきます。
原子爆弾により亡くなられた方々に心から哀悼の意を捧げ、広
島市と協力して核兵器のない世界の実現に努力し続けることをここ
に宣言します。

2013 年広島平和宣言（抜粋）
「あの日」から 68 年目の朝が巡ってきました。1945 年 8 月 6 日午
前 8 時 15 分、一発の原子爆弾によりその全てを消し去られた家族
がいます。「無事、男の子を出産して、家族みんなで祝っているち
ょうどその時、原爆が炸裂(さくれつ)。無情にも喜びと希望が、新
しい『生命(いのち)』とともに一瞬にして消え去ってしまいまし
た。」幼くして家族を奪われ、辛うじて生き延びた原爆孤児がいま
す。苦難と孤独、病に耐えながら生き、生涯を通じ家族を持てず、
孤老となった被爆者。「生きていてよかったと思うことは一度もな
かった。」と長年にわたる塗炭(とたん)の苦しみを振り返り、深い
傷跡は今も消えることはありません。
生後 8 か月で被爆し、差別
や偏見に苦しめられた女性もいます。その女性は結婚はしたものの
1 か月後、被爆者健康手帳を持っていることを知った途端、優しか
った義母に「『あんたー、被爆しとるんねー、被爆した嫁はいら
ん、すぐ出て行けー。』と離婚させられました。」放射線の恐怖

her mother-in-law, who had been so kind at first, learned
about her A-bomb survivor’s handbook. “`You’re a
hibakusha,’ she said, “We don’t need a bombed bride. Get
out now.’ And with that, I was divorced.” At times, the fear
of radiation elicited ugliness and cruelty. Groundless rumors
caused many survivors to suffer in marriage, employment,
childbirth—at every stage of life. Indiscriminately stealing
the lives of innocent people, permanently altering the lives
of survivors, and stalking their minds and bodies to the end
of their days, the atomic bomb is the ultimate inhumane
weapon and an absolute evil. The hibakusha, who know the
hell of an atomic bombing, have continuously fought that
evil. Even as their average age surpasses 78, the hibakusha
continue to communicate their longing for peace. They still
hope the people of the world will come to share that longing
and choose the right path. In response to this desire of the
many hibakusha who have transcended such terrible pain
and sorrow, the rest of us must become the force that drives
the struggle to abolish nuclear weapons. To that end, the
city of Hiroshima and the more than 5,700 cities that
comprise Mayors for Peace, in collaboration with the UN
and like-minded NGOs, seek to abolish nuclear weapons by
2020 and throw our full weight behind the early
achievement of a nuclear weapons convention. This
summer, eastern Japan is still suffering the aftermath of the
great earthquake and the nuclear accident. The desperate
struggle to recover hometowns continues. The people of
Hiroshima know well the ordeal of recovery. We extend our
hearts to all those affected and will continue to offer our
support. We urge the national government to rapidly develop
and implement a responsible energy policy that places top
priority on safety and the livelihoods of the people.
Recalling once again the trials of our predecessors through
these 68 years, we offer heartfelt consolation to the souls of
the atomic bomb victims by pledging to do everything in our
power to eliminate the absolute evil of nuclear weapons and
achieve a peaceful world.

皆さんの思いに寄り添い、応援し続けます。そして、日本政府が国
民の暮らしと安全を最優先にした責任あるエネルギー政策を早期に
構築し、実行することを強く求めます。私たちは、改めてここに

2013 年小中学生キャンプ
祝福のうちに終了！
On July 27, Saturday, Mrs. Anny Takahashi
(Minister’s wife), Rika Maruhashi, Kumiko Bauman,
Junko Noguchi, Noriko Tonegawa visited the camp and
prepared delicious “Curry Rice” for campers and
counselors! Everyone was thankful and so happy with their
favorite Japanese meal!
Thanks be to God for the strong financial support from
Christian Student Fellowship, (CSF) Kyodan in Tokyo,
Japan. Also, NY Presbytery (PCUA), Synod of NY
(RCA) for the grant received for Summer Camp. This year
the Camp Scholarship Offering was dedicated from
Supporting base-Churches and friends in Japan and USA.
We offer thanks to God that this SMJ Camp is an enjoyable
and successful Mission Project, partnering with many
churches in America and Japan. Praise the Lord!
Camp Reunion is September 21, Saturday, at
Hitchcock Presbyterian Church at 4:00 p.m. The Camp
Reunion is the important follow up for evangelism, and
educational meeting for all campers and their families.
Please continue to pray and support our camp ministry
for the next year.
「みんなちがって、みんな良い」の主題で「ＳＭＪデイスカバ
リー・キャンプ」は７月２１日（日）から 8 月７日（金）までの
２週間、美しい Shelter 島のメソジストキャンプ場（ Camp
Quinipet）で今年も開催されました。神様の祝福を一杯頂いて充
実したプログラムを持つことが出来ました。今年はキャンプ委員
会の努力と皆様のご協力によって、キャンパー数２０名（男子１
３名、女子７名）が集まり、有能なクリスチャン・カウンセラー
６名が各自の賜物を捧げて良い指導をされ、恵まれたキャンプと
なりました。過去２５年間このキャンプを導いて下さった吉松純
牧師が昨年、キャンプ・デイレクターを引退されたため、今年は
伊与田昭夫先生がデイレクターに就任され、新しいリーダーシッ
プを発揮、カウンセラー達を纏め、立派に責任を果たされまし
た。心より感謝いたします。カウンセラーの皆様、お疲れ様でし
た！キャンプ委員会の皆様本当に有難うございました。塚本吉興
牧師（教団畦野教会）が副デイレクターとして、3 年目の応援に
来て下さり、伊与田デイレクターの右腕となって全体を纏めて下
さいました。さらに、今年は「浅田支援会」より島田尚美さん
（関西学院神学部 4 年生）が日本から参加され、良い交わりを持
って楽しく奉仕されました。お二人参加に心より感謝致します！
今年はこのキャンプの生みの親である日米合同教会より、７

けでキャンプ場を訪問し、楽しい二日間を過ごし、良い思い出が
出来ました！有難うございました。
今年も東京の学生キリスト教友愛会（ CSF: Christian
Student Fellowship）よりキャンプ支援献金が捧げられ、アメリ
カ長老教会、アメリカ改革派からもキャンプ支援献金が捧げられ
ました。さらにキャンプ支援教会（日米合同教会、ユニオン日本
語教会、日本の畦野教会）の教会員たちと友人たちから「キャン
プスカラシップ献金」が捧げられ、皆の篤い祈りと支援が結集し
たキャンプとなりました。皆様の貴い献金を感謝致します。日本
とアメリカの宣教協力のプログラムとしてキャンプが継続できて
おります事を心より感謝致します！

Rev. Yoshioki Tsukamoto, Pastor of Uneno Church,
Kyodan, arrived from Japan to serve as Assistant Director
for the third year. Thank you to Rev. Tsukamoto, and Uneno
Church who sent their Senior Pastor to support our camp.
Also very capable counselor, Ms. Naomi Shimada,
Kwanseigakuin Seminary Student was sent from “AsadaFoundation” for Summer Intern from Japan. Thanks to six
gifted counselors and two CIT (Counselor-in-Training).
Also thanks to camp committee members from supporting
SMJ base churches--JAUC (Japanese-American United
Church) in Manhattan, and UJCW in Westchester, NY. The
children went home with many happy experiences, new
friends, Bible messages, camp songs and good art works
with much pride!

Annual Meeting we will celebrate the past year’s SMJ
programs, and plan for the new year. Praise God for SMJ

Director Rev. Takako Terino for her outreach ministry!
SMJ Worship Service in NJ began at Leonia
Presbyterian Church on July 14 with 20 attendees, on
August 11. Although it was
summer vacation, 15 people
attended, including some
families from SMJ Summer
Camp and a family for the
first time! Praise the Lord!
SMJ Japanese Service is
offered every second Sunday
at 3:00 p.m. at Leonia Presbyterian Church. They offer
many active outreach programs for Asian people.

し伸べて来られました。川上先生の働きをお聞きする

Arrived at Japanese-American United Church
Pastor Kaz and Mrs. Anny and their sons Kengo and
Shungo Takahashi arrived in NY from San Francisco on
July 14. Congratulation and may God bless Pastor Kaz
Takahashi and his family, and JAUC (Japanese-American
United Church) for initiating a much needed ministry for the
community. He has quickly adjusted to life in New York
and began his ministry at JAUC with passion, caring and
warm fellowship with all church members, and the many
colleagues in community.
Pastor Takahashi began a Joint Outreach Music
Program, Jazz on the Steps on the evening of August 7 at
Church of the Village, pastored by Bishop Alfred Johnson.
Rev. Takahashi shares his gift of playing the Saxophone
with UMC minister, Rev. Nathaniel Dixon (Saxophone),
and gifted youth, Nathan Bunce (Djiembe Drums)!
