Trick Shot Layout 15 M New Bowlers can stand on any of the three mats and attempt to get their three bowls inside the target directly opposite the mat. Existing bowlers stand on the centre mat and have to try and get their bowl into each of the target areas Trick Shot Layout This years Trick Shot Challenge has been inspired by the STV Children’s Appeal logo and can easily be setup on your green using only bowls. How do we setup the Challenge Video instructions of how to setup the Trick Shot Challenge can be found at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcFSUS7Q58E If you don’t have access to a computer, the following bullet points outline the basic steps – Use your clubs two metre sticks, tape measure or string. For the square, set out the three sides shown in the diagram with the top of the square open to allow the bowls access. Place bowls about a foot apart around the outside of the sticks. The circle is created using four two metre sticks. Place the first two sticks in an X shape and then place the other two sticks across the gaps creating eight segments. Place two bowls in each of the gaps, apart from the segments at the top of the circle as this once again allows the bowls access to the shape. In these segments place only one bowl. The side of the Triangle is made using two metre sticks with the bottom of the triangle left open to allow access for the bowls. Once again, place bowls about a foot apart down the outside of the two remaining sides. Once you have set up with the sticks, or measured out, remove the sticks from the green. Attempting the Challenge Each player gets three bowls. Any new player, as per the diagram can choose to stand opposite each of the three shapes. Their objective is to get their three bowls into one of the shapes. They can choose to play all three bowls into the same shape if they wish. Make sure you give lots of encouragement to non bowlers. The square offers the best chance of success so encourage them to start off with that shape to ensure they get a sense of achievement. For existing bowlers or new players looking for an extra challenge, the trick shot is slightly different. They will play all 3 bowls from the middle mat opposite the circle. The objective is then to play one bowls into each of the 3 targets. Fundraising for the STV Children’s Appeal All participants taking part in the Trick Shot Challenge should make a donation at the club for the STV Children’s Appeal.
