Example People John gets upset and then he finds it hard to focus on anything. Dimensions wants everyone who works for Dimensions to feel included and wants staff to respect each other and all the ways they are different. Experts in Dimensions have studied how we support people very carefully. For example, they have found out how to support people when they are upset and need support to focus. Dimensions wants to have staff who love their work and are great at their job. Dimensions wants to help staff to be the best they can be. Staff in Sheffield get information from the experts to find the best way to help John focus when he gets upset. Dimensions wants staff to feel responsible for the things they do. John is now much happier because he gets the support he needs. Dimensions wants it to be clear who is responsible for the jobs that need to be done. Example Getting more involved Linda came to work for Dimensions in 2009. Dimensions wants to get even better at working with other organisations. She has had lots of training and meetings with her manager. Dimensions wants to make things better for all the organisations that support people, so that everyone’s support gets better. This will help to let everyone know that the voice of people with learning disabilities and autism needs to be heard. Dimensions wants to support more people with complex needs. These are people who need more support because of their health or how they are with other people or how they look after themselves. Example Organisation Dimensions wants to support more people like Darren. Dimensions wants to do even better at learning from its mistakes and the things it does well. Darren has autism and lives in a house that is designed especially for him. Dimensions wants to put all the skills people have and all the things that it owns to the best use possible. Darren needs a lot of support to live the life he chooses. Dimensions wants to give staff and the people they support more control. Dimensions has a lot of experience supporting people like Darren so it knows it is the best organisation to help Darren get the most out of life. Dimensions wants more people to make decisions about the things that happen in their area. Example Cynthia lives in Oxford and needs to make some big decisions about her life as her support is changing. Cynthia’s staff would normally have to wait until they had spoken to the staff in the offices at Dimensions in Theale before they could make big changes to her support. Now the boss of Dimensions in Oxford can make those decisions which speeds things up so that Cynthia can get the support she needs faster.
