ANNUAL REPORT 2013-2014 INAUGURATION The women cell activities for the golden Jubilee year 2013-2014 was inaugurated by Dr.Meera Bai, Director Women Study Centre, Cochin University of Science and Technology. It was followed by a talk on “Sensitization and Self Defence Techniques MANUSCRIPT “TRIDIV” A manuscript “TRIDIV” released by the Dr.Lissy Jose, Kerala Vanitha Commission. The manuscript contained a compilation of the student’s awe-inspiring poems, articles and illustrations. OPEN FORUM An Open Forum –an interaction with empowered women from various walks of life was conducted including nine eminent women resource persons. The programme was inaugurated by the famous Malayalam writer, literary critic and educationist Padmashri Dr. M. Leelavathy .The resource persons who participated were lakshmanan(Former Director, Kerala Dr. M. M P),Dr. State Leelavathy, R. Health Prof. Santha Service Savithri Kumari(Asst. & District Reproductive and Child health officer, Ernakulam District),Dr. Mary Regina F(Associate professor, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Thrissur, Kerala Agricultural University),Dr. Sr. Rose Jose(Counsellor & Psychologist, Jeevalaya Family Park, Kalady) and Ms. P .K Radhamani ( WCI of police, Vanitha cell, Aluva) COMMUNITY INTERVENTIO N PROGRAMMEMADHAVAPURAM COLONY As part of Women Cell social outreach, topics “Women & child rights” seminars on the “ “Domestic violence and “gender awareness” was conducted for Madhavapuram panchayat, Aluva Municipality to creating awareness among members of the community on current relevant issues. The seminars were much appreciated by the participants who were educated on further avenues from where to seek free legal recourse. HOUSE DONATION As Part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of our College Women Cell in association with Kerala Action Force, WIMA and GP Charitable Trust Donated a House to a poor lady in Sreemola Nagaram panchayat. “EXCELLENTIA”2013 An Inter collegiate cultural competition “Excellentia 2013” was conducted in the college auditorium. The fest was inaugurated by Rev.sr.Reethamma, Principal, St.xaviers College for women Aluva. Various competitions such as essay writing,shortstorywriting,Debate,Extempore,painting,Pencil Drawing,Skit,Miss.Excellentia etc. were conducted . More than 100 students from various colleges participated and won prizes. STREET PLAY “PANDAMENTHIYA PENNUGAL” The Street play named “Pandamenthiya Pennugal” was performed in college auditorium in association with drama club and college union on Human Rights Day ONE DAY SEMINAR ON “GENDER AWARENESS’ The women Cell in association with KSWDC conducted a One Day th Seminar on the Topic “Gender Awareness” on 24 January 2014.The Resource Persons of the seminar were Dr.Moly Kuruvilla, Director, Centre for women Studies, University of Calicut and Dr. Aparna Lakshmanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, St.Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva. The talk gave the students a general awareness about the rising menace of domestic violence, sexual harassment, dowry demands and to encouraged them to initiate a sustained campaign for creating awareness that would enable them to use the various provisions of law to defend themselves and seek remedial measures
