Suitable comfortable seating in the Lounge bar for discussion and roll call was taken. All members were present and on time. AGM corner taken by some NonMembers so opposite corner used. How rude! The meeting was chaired by Richard who duly recorded the minutes. A suitable kitty was opened for the members and drinks ordered from the lounge bar. Agendas, calendars, and non-audited SIT accounts were handed out for all members to peruse before the start of the meeting. Members Photograph Review of attendance Steve O then without formal notice once again arranged for a group photo to be taken by one of the guests in the pub. This year Steve invited another guest to also take a photo which duly upset guest number one. Guest number one photo has been used and posted on the SIT website (see copy below) 2016 Beer Glass widget The attendance records for 2016 were reviewed. Graphical display of attendance was debated with members. It was recorded that Harry, Ricard and Steve O achieved 11 of 12 meetings, with Steve L and Bob 10 meetings. It was shown that members who fell below 50% were Alan 5 meetings and Steve OL only 3. Kim attended 6 out of 12 meetings. There was no month were all 8 members managed to meet and November saw only 3 members meet. (see below) Discussion was taken over why Richard’s beer looked flat. After replacing the glass by the pub staff to a glass with a widget, Richard tried to educate the members on the purpose and value of an engraved widget on the inside bottom of the glass. After being belittled and laughed at, Richard (former metallurgist) tried to explain that increasing the surface area of the bottom of the glass allowed the CO2 to be released quicker than if just a flat bottomed glass. See below item from Wikipedia. Wikipedia extract The term widget glass can be used to refer to a laser-etched pattern at the bottom of a beer glass which aids the release of carbon dioxide bubbles.[3] The pattern of the etching can be anything from a simple circular or chequered design to a logo or text. The widget in the base of a beer glass works by creating a nucleation point, allowing the CO2 to be released from the liquid which comes into contact with it, thus assisting in maintaining head on the beer. This has become increasingly popular with the likes of Fosters and Estrella using them in public houses in the UK. 2017 SIT AGM (Private Gentlemen’s Club est.1995) Primary meeting points : Last year’s items None of the following were actioned : SIT subscription to increase from March 2016 Christmas gathering with ladies to be held at large house with outside caterers BBQ several venues Trip to Bansko Jazz festival London day out as per previous year All day SIT meeting to start at 3 O’clock Carry out successful bank raid to enhance SIT fund and secure future events Items that were carried out : Lottery ticket money to come from SIT account (to Alans account) Whisky trip organised by Richard Lottery numbers to remain the same even with the addition of more draw numbers Secondary meeting points : SIT Account SIT Account Accounts were shown by Richard, showing contributions, tax and interest for the financial years 2004 - 2016. This equates to £970.06 per SIT Account member as of 01/01/17 2017 SIT AGM (Private Gentlemen’s Club est.1995) SIT Account Investment’s The membership debated what to do with the current fund in respect of investment. The SIT account comprises of cash within the Cahoot account and £2,000 held in premium bods. ISAs and other financial investments were discussed with the overriding theme being the current low rate of interest. The conclusion was not to risk any funds in investments either high or low risk but to start purchasing more premium bonds. Premium bonds gives the fund security against any losses incurred if invested elsewhere and the chance of winning a million pound every month. Nice. Tertiary meeting points : Open Floor A.O.B.
