SACRAMENTO – Bishop Jaime Soto has announced the appointment of Margo
Reid Brown as president of St. Francis High School. Brown, a native of Sacramento, has
served as a senior advisor to two different California governors and has nearly 25 years
experience as an agency director, strategist, businessperson and community volunteer.
A St. Francis graduate herself, Brown succeeds long-time St. Francis President
Marion Bishop, who guided the school through record growth and expansion during
her 11-year tenure as president.
“St. Francis High School educates young women in Catholic faith and practice.
The School is a proud part of the Church’s ministry to young women and the world.”
said Bishop Soto. “Margo graduated from St. Francis; she understands this intuitively.
I could not be more pleased that she has accepted this appointment.”
“I am honored to have been selected by Bishop Soto to continue the legacy of a
providing a faith-filled Catholic education to young women in Sacramento as the next
President of Saint Francis High School,” said Brown. “I believe deeply in the value and
benefit of a Catholic education. As an alumna of Saint Francis, I believe I bring a unique
perspective and understanding to this role.”
Brown will report directly to diocesan Catholic Schools Director Rick Maya. Her
appointment is effective February 1. After a transition period, she will assume her full
responsibilities on July 1. 2012.
“Margo’s appointment takes place during an exciting time for Catholic education
in the Sacramento diocese,” said Maya. “We are aggressively positioning our schools
for growth and continued excellence in education, as well as the faith formation of our
students. But even more impressively, we’re creating new ways to carry-out this
ministry and establish new models of Catholic education for the 21st Century.”
