Development in researching and developing workforce development strategies which
address organisational needs.

To co-ordinate all workforce development activities to meet the College
Strategic Plan and needs of staff.

To co-ordinate workforce development projects within the College.

To actively contribute to the College’s Strategic Plan and in particular the ambition to
become an outstanding provider of education and training.


Specifically the post holder's responsibilities will be as follows
The duties and responsibilities of the post of Workforce Development and Equalities
Co-ordinator are inherently of a professional nature and are wide ranging. They include,
but are not restricted to the following:
1.
Work with the Assistant Principal - Teaching & Learning / Curriculum Development
and other colleagues as identified to produce a Workforce Development Strategy
which addresses identified development needs from departments and supports
organisational developments
2.
Co-ordinate the Workforce Development Programme across the College including
Staff Induction, providing a mix of delivery of training programmes, mentoring,
coaching and sourcing internal and external providers, where appropriate and
ensuring good practice is shared.
3.
Proactively work with Directors of Programmes, Business Support Managers and
College Leadership Team to identify development needs including needs identified
through Staff Appraisals, Self-Assessment (SAR), policy & system development
4.
Develop an Annual Training & Development Plan for the College working closely with
the Head of Teaching & Learning and other key personnel as required.
5.
Ensure effective IT systems are in place to efficiently book, manage, record and
report workforce development activities and ensure that staff are aware of the
processes to be followed to effectively use the systems in place.
6.
Ensure effective promotion and communication of courses and where appropriate,
direct marketing of such courses to individuals and groups within the organisation.
7.
Take responsibility for the monitoring and completion of mandatory training within the
organisation e.g. safeguarding, equality and diversity etc.
8.
Deliver training as appropriate to the needs of the business.
9.
Co-ordinate Investor in People (IIP) and Equality & Diversity accreditation across the
College including carrying out the role of link member of staff for the External
Assessors.
10. To monitor and advise on the deployment of the Workforce Development budget and
to contribute to the preparation of the annual Workforce Development report for the
College Leadership Team and Corporate Services Committee.
11. To co-ordinate the promotion, recording and issuing of Star Awards including the
annual Star Awards celebration.

Equality and Diversity responsibilities will be as follows
12. Research, apply and promote diversity initiatives and share best practice.
13. Provide advice, guidance and support on equality and diversity issues.
14. Translate equality legislation into practice to ensure the College meets statutory
requirements.
15. Prepare and deliver presentations and workshops to staff, Governors and any
partner organisations to develop their Equality & Diversity knowledge.
16. Assess the impact of policies and programmes on staff and students.
17. Chair Cross College Operational Equality & Diversity meeting, contribute to Strategic
Equality and Diversity Committee and liaise with nominated Governor for Equality
and Diversity.
18. Produce termly and annual Equality and Diversity reports detailing the College’s
activities and progress towards an inclusive and diverse college.
19. Annually review and update the College Equality Statement and Policy and update
action plan as required.

20. To support and promote equality and diversity to ensure quality of opportunity for all
students, visitors and staff and the elimination of discriminatory practices.
21. To maintain and promote a healthy and safe environment to ensure students, visitors
and staff are safe from harm.
22. To support and promote the safeguarding of all students, visitors and staff.
Flexibility
23. The post holder may be required to undertake such other duties as may be
reasonable required and in addition to the main tasks identified above, this may
include course co-ordination.
24. Within the limitation set out in the contract of employment, working hours are flexible
and can be subject to variation depending upon curriculum needs.

Contract Arrangements
Management Staff will be engaged under a Contract of Employment determined by
Middlesbrough College, supported by Contract Guidelines. Within your contract, the
following salient features will apply:

30 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays.

Salary Scale

£23,046 - £29,745 per annum

Employees are eligible to join:
Teesside Pension Scheme (TPS) or

Employee’s Contribution is 6.5% of salary
(effective 1 April 2015)
