Learning objectives: Main challenges and opportunities to improve EE in buildings of cities and regions Knowledge/Skills/Competences to be addressed: state of the art in EU, main costeffective strategies, main cost-effective measures, environmental and economic benefits (energy saving, GHG emission reduction). Duration: 2 h Contents: economical/environmental aspects of improving EE in buildings; main concepts and targets on EE in public buildings; main saving energy and energy efficiency measures applicable to public buildings; case studies; terminology; resources/useful links; main and useful recommendations. Training materials: presentations, links for further resources, Best Practices library Training approach/methods and tools: conference by expert on the thematic area, roundtable, discussion between EWG members and participants, and relating of main conclusions. Facilities/infrastructure: aside next GPs SC meeting in Cyprus (12 or 13th June 2014), with the participation of experts on the thematic area. Trainers profile: 1 or 2 experts on the thematic area. Evaluation – Reporting (specific template): celebration of the workshop, edition and distribution of conclusions between participants. HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO ENERGY SAVING IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS ? Specific workshop on energy efficiency in buildings Date: 12th June 2014, 16-18:30 h (aside next GPs SC meeting in Cyprus) Venue: Room/Hall in a public building of Lakatamia Municipality (Cyprus) Key discussion topics: energy efficiency in public buildings, energy services, organisational measures and users behaviour as a key factors to contribute to saving energy, practical work to find solutions. Participants: members of Lakatamia’s Municipality LAG, technical staff and energy manager of municipality, employees of public buildings, representatives of personnel department, representatives of maintance department, external companies carrying out the maintenance, local energy service companies, members of EWG_EE in buildings and all participants of GPs project. Coordinator: Granollers City Council and GERES Collaborates: Lakatamia Municipality AGENDA Duration 16.00 – 9.15 Topics Welcome and presentation of activity Meeting aims and agenda 16.15 –16.45 “Organisational and user behaviour as a key factors to energy efficiency in public buildings” Expert conference about economical/environmental aspects of improving EE in public buildings; main concepts and targets on EE in public buildings; main saving and EE measures available to public buildings; case studies; terminology; resources/useful links; main and useful recommendations. Tour of the building Practical activity. All the participants, guided by the external expert and the EWG_EE building coordinator will realize a visit through the building in order to put in practice the basic checklist ”Audit your building!”, as a useful methodology to increase the knowledge of the energy performance of a building. Discussion and contributions All participants, divided in groups, will discuss about: the main results obtained from the fulfilled checklist and further possibilities for the optimal control of the commonly equipment and plant, and development of recommendations for the optimisation of energy use, in order to gain more knowledge regarding possible energy saving measures.
