Welcome
Welcome to the 2016-17 Team Leicestershire Cricket
Season. All key information, rules, and county-level
fixtures you will need are included within this document.
Structure
Teams will compete in local fixtures, central venue leagues, or
tournaments, to determine a winning side that will progress to
represent their area at the knock-out stages of the County Finals.
The knock-out stages of the competitions will be drawn out of a
hat by the relevant Association. The winners of the County Finals
will not only be recognised at the Team Leicestershire Awards
evening, but in some sports (where applicable) will also represent
the County at Regional Finals as Team Leicestershire athletes.
Awards Evening
Winning teams will be invited to the Team Leicestershire Awards
Evening, to be held on 04th July 2017 (TBC) at the Leicester
Community Sports Arena. This event will recognise each of the
Team Leicestershire winning teams from the 2016-17 academic
year, including those that progress to regional and national finals.
Obligations
It is imperative that Team Managers upload all results and other
necessary information onto the Team Leicestershire Fixtures
website as soon as possible after a fixture is played
(www.teamleicestershire.org). This will ensure the smooth
running of the league by reducing the demand on your time in
arranging fixtures.
The progression of teams from the locality rounds to County
will be based on the league/pool standings on the
Leicestershire website. If results are incomplete at the time
deadlines stated, teams will be selected on an as it stands
and no concessions will be made.

this document. Failure to do so will result in the offending teams’
disqualification from the competition.

Rules and Formats
Age groups:
Team Leicestershire Cricket offers the following age competitions:
Under 12 (Year 7)
Under 14 (Year 9)
Post 16 / FE
1. Year 7 (U12 and Year 9 (U14) will be played on an area basis
followed by a County wide knock out during the whole of the
summer term. Year 10 will be a County knock-out
competition during the first half of the term organised by
LSCA culminating in a County winner competing in the
National ESCA T20 at regional level in the second half of the
term. The Post 16/FE Competition will be played in two
separate leagues culminating in semi-finals and final.
2. The winners of the Year 7 & Year 9 Competitions will
participate the following year in the ESCA National
Competitions.
3. Matches will be of 20 overs per innings (more by agreement
of both teams in the Post 16 Competition). No bowler shall
bowl more than a fifth of the total.
4. The team scoring the most runs shall be the winners.
5. In the event of a tie in the knock-out rounds a ‘super over’
will decide the winner – no more than two wickets can fall in
that over.
6. In the event of rain overs may be reduced to a minimum of
10 overs a side. In an abandoned match the winner will be
decided on the average run rate of each innings, provided
the side batting 2nd has had at least 10 overs.
7. The ECB age-group regulations regarding close fielding;
length of wicket; balls and helmets will apply.
