Grapes Argentina is one of the top
ten grape producers in the world.
According to the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations,
Argentina produced 2,900,000 tons
of grapes in 2008. Approximately 71%
of the grapes produced world-wide
are used to make wine, while 27% are
consumed as fresh fruit and the other
2% are dried.

Root Word Write the vocabulary

producer has produce in it. Explain that
the word produce is the root word, and
it means to make or grow something.
Tell children that knowing the meaning
of root words will help them figure out
the meaning of longer words. Ask

words in such words as baker and
farmer.
