Great Esker Park - Weymouth Recreation

Great Esker Park
A Weymouth Recreation Summer Program

All participants are required to have a Weymouth Recreation issued photo ID. See page 21 for details.

New - Only the Great Esker Park Outdoor Recreation Programs are weather dependent. The 3-8 year old
programs will meet rain or shine. If you need your 8+ child enrolled during rain events you must register
them for the rainy day option for that week. The “Great Esker Park Rainy Day Option” is included in your
program fee – please register early so our attendance list will be accurate. Rain Day Option participants
will, along with some “Esker” staff, be transported to and join the Wey-Fun group at their site(s) and
participate in their activities. All 8+ participants not enrolled in the “Rain Day Option” will receive an
account credit for any program when the full daily time period of the program is cancelled due to rain.

T-shirts are required. See page 21 for the t-shirt policy.

Transportation – see page 22 for all bus routes and shuttle schedules. These schedules allow participants
to coordinate a mixed program schedule for the full-day by coordinating their registrations.

Participants enrolled in morning and afternoon programs may stay at the park during lunch. The building
will be open and staffed.
Great Esker Programs require an age-appropriate Weymouth Recreation t-shirt.
Age (years): 3-4 red; 4–6 gold; 6–8 stonewash green; 8-10 lime green & 10+ light blue
The t-shirt price, $7.00 each, is not added to the program cost to save frequent participants money.
Great Esker Park programs are very popular. This year we are hoping to
learn where the true demand lies and to accommodate the demand expressed prior to April 1st. This will require you, our
customers, to register for the waiting list of full classes so
we can measure true demand. Please let us know what
you want. We will try to adjust program sizes by April 9th.
New - The 2010 Great Esker Park Nature Exploration Programs
will be “rain or shine”. Particularly hard rain will drive the
programs under shelters or into the building – otherwise they will
continue to explore nature. Please dress accordingly. The Exploring Nature programs will seem to have fewer choices
as we limit the offerings to Tenderfoot, Rovers and Discoverers. This is only to allow for “expansion to demand”. The
groups will be split into manageable sizes each Monday and remain in sub-groups (Minnows, Periwinkles,
Woodchucks…) the remainder of each week. Great Esker Park Exploring
Nature Programs include a lot of aquatic exploration. Please let the supervisor
know, in writing, if you do not want your child in the water.
The staff will remain dedicated to a single age group where they will be able
to get to know the participants and constantly improve “their” program. We are
happy with the changes in the past few years but as always we are always
pleased to hear what you think – both good and bad.
The Great Esker Staff has prided itself on facilitating a relationship
between program participants and nature for over forty years. The 2010 staff
continues that tradition. The programs are designed to allow your child more
choice as they discover the wonders of the park’s flora, fauna and ecological
significance!
Unless otherwise noted, all supplies are included in the cost of the class. Please see pages 19 - 22 for important info.
Participants are encouraged wear old clothes, bring hats, drinks, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellent.
Register carefully, there are no refunds. See page 20.
