Job Title:
Engager (Seasonal)
(0 to 37 Hour Contracts)
Grade:
£7.19 per hour for age 18 and over
(pro rata for 16 & 17 year olds)
Responsible to:
Team Leader/Area Supervisor
Key Internal Relationships:
Head of Department; Team Leaders; Supervisors,
Engagers, Volunteers.
Purpose:
To engage with visitors in a positive, friendly
manner delivering a world class experience in a
living, working open air museum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 To work with colleagues, with an absolute focus on the Visitor, to help deliver a
world class experience in a living, working Open Air Museum
 Engage with visitors using a variety of techniques which may include first
person interpretation, food and beverage preparation, cooking, musical
performance and dance, care for domestic animals as allocated.
 Help to ensure the safe and good management and housekeeping of all
areas of work which may include some lifting and carrying duties.
 To assist colleagues in maintaining attention to detail in all Museum activities.
 Deliver learning activities when required (Some posts will be required to
undertake a DBS check (Disclosure Barring Check)
 To work collaboratively to support volunteers and supervise placements
when required.
 Work flexibly to support the delivery of Museum events – including evening
events.
 Cash handling duties will be required within some areas
 Work within catering outlets will be required within some areas
 Adhere to quality systems, operating procedures and risk assessments to
facilitate the safe, smooth and timely delivery of services.
 Ensure health and hygiene standards are adhered to in all food preparation
and service areas.
General Responsibilities:
 To carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Museum’s Equal
Opportunity Policy, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety legislation and
regulations
 To ensure compliance with standing orders, financial regulations audit and
management procedures
 To carry out any other duties within the level of responsibility as may be
determined from time to time
