1.1 Purpose (Unique value add)
Operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Plants and Networks within Kangaroo Island regional operations to ensure treated product water meets
ADWG criteria to provide safe drinking water to the community, and contribute to the efficient achievement of regional performance targets for customer
satisfaction, safety, environment and water quality by carrying out field based preventative, corrective maintenance and emergency response activities.
1.2 Objectives
The objectives (maximum 6) of this role are to:
 As part of a team, operate and maintain the water treatment plants and networks on Kangaroo Island within operating set points and performance
targets. Assist with operational activities at the Middle River reservoir as required.
 Operate a variety of treatment plants ranging from simple to complex technologies including, water treatment – MIEX process, conventional treatment
(e.g. coagulation, flocculation, media filtration / dynasand filters), micro / nano filtration systems, reverse osmosis systems, Granular Activated Carbon
filters, chlorine disinfection, ultraviolet disinfection and chemical dosing systems.
 Assist in the implementation of maintenance plans, operational/WHS procedures, emergency response procedures and Quality Management System
documentation e.g. Drinking Water Quality Management System.
 As part of a team, contribute to the provision of a continuous improvement focus for water treatment plant and network operations.
 Provide on-site presence and primary liaison with contractors and any visitors to SAW sites and a non primary liaison with other Government agencies,
e.g. Department of Health and Ageing, EPA, CFS, etc.
 Ensure WHS, Water Quality and Environmental Management Policies and obligations are adhered to and maintained.

 Conduct daily operations in accordance with documented quality assured system procedures (EMS, DWQMS,
WHS).
 Compliant treatment plant/network operations, meeting monthly operational and water quality targets.
 Input into development/improvement of quality system procedures.
