If you need any information regarding the best way to treat head lice and how to check your child’s hair leaflets are available in the school office. Please remember that Rhayader School is a healthy school and we have healthy snacks and lunches; please do not send sweets or fizzy drinks into school. Sugary or chocolate bars should not be eaten at snacktime. Fruit is on sale for 30p. All children are asked to bring in a named water bottle to school, so they can keep hydrated throughout the day. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR The Scholastic Book fair is coming to school after the half-term holiday. It will be open between 3.30 and 4.30pm each evening on Monday 27th February to Wednesday 1st March. There will be competitions running for your child to enter to win books and vouchers. Your child will be given a World Book Voucher on 27th February and you are welcome to use it towards the purchase of a book at the book fair or any other book store of your choice. Attached is a leaflet from Scholastic. We aim to sell more than £300 of books as the school has a commission which can be used to buy much needed school resources. SAINSBURY’S SCHOOL VOUCHERS The Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers are now available for collection. Since 2005, Sainsbury’s has donated sport and cookery equipment to the school through you collecting vouchers when you shop at Sainsbury’s. With you help we will be able to get even more resources for our school in 2017. The collection box is located in the school entrance area. AFTER SCHOOL CLUB – ICT and PYJAMA DRAMA Your child should have given a letter about the clubs starting next half-term. Pyjama drama will start on 1st March until 5th April (no club will be happening on 15th March). The cost of the club is £19 and runs between 3.30pm to 4.30pm in the school hall. ICT for Year 3 to 6 will start on 1st March until 5th April 3.30 – 4.30pm and will cost £24.00. Names for each club need to be handed into the school office by Thursday 16th February when places will be confirmed with the club providers. DECHRAU AMSER YSGOL / SCHOOL START TIME Thank you to all of the parents who telephone the school office to inform us if a child is going to be late for school. The school day starts punctually at 8.55am all external doors are open from 8.45am. Unfortunately, a high number of pupils are arriving after the register has been taken and these children must report to the school office and not be taken by parents into the child’s class as the start of the school day is being disrupted. The school is required to record all late arrivals and the names of pupils who are entered onto the register late regularly will result in an individual letter home to the parent and the Educational Welfare Officer may be contacted. URDD FUNDRAISING In 2018, the Urdd Brycheiniog a Maesyfed are hosting the national Urdd Eisteddfod at the Royal Welsh Showground. Rhayader and District Urdd committee have arranged Car Boot sales on March 5th, 12th and 19th in the Smithfield Market. It is £5 per car or stall. 10am until 2pm. CAR PARK As you are aware the entrance and lane to the school and the car park is in poor condition and too small for the amount of cars using it. Powys County Council representatives will be meeting governors after half-term. Mrs Crockett has advised a number of parents to write letters to her regarding the car park problems so she can give these to the officers to ensure work is arranged to improve the situation, if you would like to give a letter please could they be in school by the morning of the 27th February? - Everyone Matters – Mae Pawb yn Cyfri-
