ADHD at Home and in School Settings
Workshop led by Dr. Robert Silvestri
ADHD is a neuro-bio-psycho-social disorder. Accordingly, this
presentation will provide parents with knowledge of the
biological, cognitive, and behavioural mechanisms underlying
symptoms of ADHD. Simulations will provide presentation
participants the chance to experience ADHD symptoms. The
impact of ADHD across home and school settings will be
discussed and academic strategies/ accommodations that most
benefit students with ADHD will be conveyed as well.

Robert Silvestri is currently employed with the Northern Ontario
Assessment and Resource Centre (NOARC) as the Lead
Researcher. Robert has obtained his Master’s in Education from
the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. in Education with a
specialization in cognitive studies at Queen’s University.
Robert’s research interests include studying the impaired
cognitive mechanisms associated with learning disabilities (i.e.
dyslexia) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
Additionally, Robert is interested in research examining the
impact of disabilities on academic success at a postsecondary level
of education.
