Enzymatic details of the major catabolic pathway for propionyl CoA and methylmalonyl CoA. Succinyl CoA has several metabolic fates, including oxidation through the tricarboxylic acid cycle and condensation with glycine to form δ-aminolevulinic acid. Two coenzymes act in the reaction sequence: biotin, in the carboxylation of propionyl CoA, and adenosylcobalamin (AdoCbl), in the isomerization of methylmalonyl CoA to succinyl CoA.
