Background:
My Sight Nottinghamshire is a local charity, which supports
people living with sight loss across Nottinghamshire, ensuring
they have access to the same life opportunities as everyone
else. In order to provide our services the organisation carries
out many different types of fundraising activities, we are now
looking to recruit someone with the drive and creativity to
help build relationships with a wide range of donors and to
help us achieve our fundraising ambition.
We are looking for someone to join our small fundraising
department. As the post-holder you will be working towards a
fundraising target which will help the charity continue with its
work throughout the county. There is the opportunity to make
a huge impact through your fundraising.
There is a great deal of flexibility within this role and day to
day work will be varied (everything from recruiting people to
run the Robin Hood marathon to attending coffee mornings to
corporate networking events), you will be expected to plan
and manage your own workload and so self-motivation is
vital, likewise, personality and aptitude are fundamental to
this position. We would love to hear from you if you think

Purpose:
The post holder will be responsible for the development and
delivery of a comprehensive programme of profitable
community and corporate fundraising activities and events
which achieve agreed financial targets and increase
awareness of My Sight Nottinghamshire.
Key to this role will be the ability to engage and develop
relationships with supporters of all types (e.g. community

groups, organisations, companies and individuals) in order to
inspire and facilitate them to raise funds for My Sight
Nottinghamshire. The post holder will also be responsible for
the project management and delivery of ‘in-house’ events as
well as recruiting participants to take part in other regional
and national events whilst raising money for My Sight
Nottinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities:
To increase the charities fundraising revenue through
individual, community, corporate and event fundraising.
To plan and deliver the charity’s community and corporate
fundraising activities, to achieve agreed financial targets
To inspire and motivate individuals, community groups and
corporate partners to undertake fundraising activities to raise
money for My Sight Nottinghamshire.
To maintain and further develop links with existing donors
and identify and gain the support of new ones.
Provide support to individuals, community groups and
corporate partners; to encourage and facilitate them to
organise their own events to raise funds for My Sight
Nottinghamshire.
To secure and fulfil places in third party events such as runs,
marathons and challenge events.
Plan and deliver the charity’s own fundraising events, to
achieve agreed financial targets.
To research new event activity, provide detailed event plans
and budgets for proposed events.
To provide evaluations of events undertaken.
To work closely with the marketing department to help
develop positive awareness of the charity.

Deliver community engagement presentations in order to
inspire fundraising.
To undertake networking that will positively increase
awareness of My Sight Notts and build links with appropriate
companies, organisations and individuals.
Represent My Sight Nottinghamshire, at fundraising
functions, providing talks, preparing presentations, and media
management, press releases etc.
Provide exemplary customer service to donors, service users
and external contacts.
To undertake any other duties that are deemed appropriate to
your role that may be assigned, on occasion, by your line
manager.
Knowledge Skills and Experience
 Experience in either Fundraising, Events or Sales /Direct
Marketing is essential.
 Project management skills and/ or experience (from
conception through to development, realisation and
evaluation).
 Proven ability to organise and manage events
 Confident public speaker with good presentation skills
and the ability to inspire supporters
 Ability to engage and manage corporate partnerships
 Ability to travel throughout county in fulfilment of duties
(Full Driving Licence / Access to own vehicle preferable)
 IT literate (MS Office and databases)
 Knowledge of marketing (including social media)
 Knowledge of the voluntary sector
