Quick Start Guide
Natural Reader
Overview
•
NaturalReader is Text to Speech software with natural sounding voices. This
easy to use software can convert any written text such as MS Word, Webpage,
PDF files, and Emails into spoken works. NaturalReader can also convert any
written text into audio files such as MP3 or WAV for your CD player or iPod.
To Use

Activate Natural Reader by double clicking on the icon on the desktop.
Using the Natural Reader window to read text:

Copy and paste the text to be read into the reading area of the software.
Click on the play arrow button to have the text in the box read out loud.
Click on the stop square to move curser to another area to be read.
In the program window the words highlight as it reads

Using the miniboard toolbar to read text within other applications:
•
The miniboard toolbar allows you to open all your files from within other
programs. As long as the software is running, just press Control plus F9, and you
can have the computer speak any selected text on the computer screen.
•
Click the “Go to Miniboard” button.
•
Select the text to be read and click on the play arrow on the miniboard toolbar
while in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
programs.
To change the settings

Click on the settings wheel on the miniboard or the natural reader toolbar.

Select the Text to Speech tab and slide the speed bar to the desired position
or
Select the hot keys tab to view the hot keys (you may also change the hotkeys at
this point)
To Convert Text to MP3 (not available in the free version)

Click the MP3 button on the toolbar or Miniboard.
The text automatically highlights and opens the “Save to Audio File” window.
Click Save when you have selected where you want your MP3 Audio file saved.

Troubleshooting Tips

Click the Help tab on the Natural Reader toolbar and follow the instructions.
