Assignment 1: Graphical Representations
1. Using Microsoft Word’s Equation Editor, create the formula shown in 1.115. µ is the
location parameter and σ is the scale parameter. Plot the function using Apple
Computer’s Grapher software with µ = 0 and σ = 1.
2. Use the same software and procedures to create and plot the formula shown in (1.24)
3. Copy the paragraph and equations below as closely as you can—formatting counts.
4. Similar to problem number three, copy the paragraph below as closely as possible.
5. Copy the paragraph below as closely as possibly with the exception of the yellow
background color and border.
6. Using Apple Computer’s Grapher, create the figure below. You may wish to use
Equation Editor for the values in the parentheses and for the formulae.
7. Following the directions in problem 6, create the following figure (excluding the problem
description at the top.)
8. Select one of the following four figures and create it using GEONExT. Three different
colors are used: orange, black, and gray. The use of orange is obvious. Black is used for
the line that includes points O, P, and T. All other non-orange lines and letters are gray.
9. Create this figure following the directions in problem eight. The use of orange, gray, and
black is obvious here.
10. Create this figure using GEONExT. Gray is not used.
11. Copy the text below as closely as possible.
