WikiSpace Presentation

 What
are Wiki Spaces?
 Wiki Spaces are pages or a collection of
Web pages designed to enable anyone
who has permission to contribute or
modify its content. Wikis are collaborative
in nature. They are a type of social
software that make it easy to
communicate online.

I want you all to be able to use, add to, and
even build a wiki for use in your classrooms or
professions. We are going to go through the
steps of setting up an account, using a wiki, and
you will be on your way to creating your own
wiki!

Go to the URL:
http://www.wikispaces.com/

Where it says “Get
Started”, you will type
in a user name, and
set up your account.
When you finish
setting up your
account, you will be
at this screen, where
you will type in your
user name,
password, and email
address.
 This creator can send an invitation
to teachers to join the wiki. They
would receive an email
inviting them to join and they would
either accept or decline.
 After
you have accepted the invitation,
you would see that the people have been
added as members of the wiki.
 Using a wiki is great, because the page
that you are working on is on the
Internet. This gives the you the flexibility
to change information as is necessary
without a lot of problems, from any
computer that is online.

Files, such as forms
or lesson plans, can
be saved on the wiki
for easy
access. You can get
to this information
from any computer
that has internet
access (as long as
you remember your
user name and
password for wiki
spaces.) All you
have to do is click on
the form that you
want and the file will
pull up.

For example, some teachers have
wikis where you can contribute various
lesson plans or web sites for different
subjects and themes, or you can access
other’s lesson plans.
 You
now have a wiki account, you know
how to use it, and you know how to
contribute to one. Let’s build your own.
This can be for your classroom or for your
own personal use.
Hopefully, you will make
Wiki Spaces a place you
can utilize online, as it has
many benefits!
