Kathi ☺ Orleans Young Players is proud of its excellence in theatre arts education. Since it began in 1989, OYP has had a special commitment to the community and to young people. Over our 19 years, OYP has grown from a small volunteer-run community group to a leader in theatre education. OYP teaches theatre by doing theatre, participants explore, experience and integrate all aspects of theatre arts: writing - the story and the script; visual arts - set, costume and light design; music - sound design, voice, mood music; dance and movement-in the simple blocking, or complex movement sequences; and, increasingly, the newer artsincorporating mixed or multi media. The Shenkman Arts Centre is due to open in the spring of 2009, and we will be moving in March! OYPTS will have two studios, office/reception areas and storage space! Third term classes and student performances will take place in the OYP studios, the Black Box Theatre and The Shenkman Hall. Watch for important dates! OYPTS is excited to join with AOE, MIFO, VACO, and the Gloucester Pottery School in this venture that will allow continued and enhanced sharing of arts, talents and energies to benefit the whole community in this exciting new and vital centre. Ask us about it – Get Involved! Welcome everyone to another exciting year at OYPTS. We are very excited as we prepare for the move to our new facility in 2009.
