2014 PRIMARY SCHOOLS POSTER COMPETITION
LILYDALE SHOW 15th & 16th November 2014
It’s show time again and your students are invited to participate in the 2014 Primary Schools Poster Competition for
the Lilydale Show to be held on November 15th & 16th, 2014.
We are pleased to have The Herald and Weekly Times, publisher of Leader Community Newspapers, supporting us
again with this competition.
There are great prizes to be won by the winning school and student. The winning poster will feature in the Lilydale
& Yarra Valley Leader.
The winning student will receive:

Family ticket to the Eureka Skydeck 88 (worth $73) & Leader Surprise Pack Prize sponsored by the Lilydale
& Yarra Valley Leader

Silk Sash presented on the Melba Park Stage at the Lilydale Show 2014

Family ticket to 2014 Lilydale Show
The winning school will receive:

A presentation will be made at the assembly at the winning school by a representative from the Lilydale & Yarra
Valley Leader and the President of the Lilydale Show Society.
Entry is open to primary school students within the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Full details of the competition are attached, including a copy of our “Guidelines” and “Rules & Regulations”. The
closing date is the 3rd September 2014.

Student Requirements:
Content of Poster:
Produce a colourful and original A3 Poster - A3 size VERTICAL FORM ONLY
Note: Only A3 original formats can be considered – no A4 formats
2014 Theme: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Theme for 2014.
Must include Reduce, Reuse & Recycle theme and show activities common to the
Lilydale Show with an agricultural & horticultural/country life focus. i.e. art & craft,
horses, goats, poultry, sheep, rabbits, flowers & plants, show rides, grand parade,
wood chop, sheep dog events, fireworks – a carnival atmosphere. (Note: all the
listed subject matter need not be included in the finished artwork.)

No pastel colours. Pastel colours do not reproduce effectively.

between 5mm x 10mm high) please attach logos.
Note: If you choose not to insert this wording you will need to create space for it to
be introduced later - it is important to create space to ensure there is no change to
the artistic impact of the overall design. An area of 20% of the total Poster should
be set aside.
Artist name, address, phone and email (if available) of Student and School name,
contact and phone must be printed clearly on the BACK of the Poster.

Winner presented by representatives from the Leader and the Lilydale A & H Show
Society at school assembly shortly after competition closes.
The WINNING POSTER will be used as a promotional poster for the 2014 Lilydale Show and will be reproduced as a
feature with an article of the winning student in the Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader for the Lilydale Show.

All participating students MUST BE FULL-TIME STUDENTS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE SCHOOL.
The finished artwork MUST BE THE SOLE WORK OF THE STUDENT. The judging panel may wish to discuss
aspects of the entry with the student.
Group entries ARE NOT PERMITTED.
The final artwork MUST BE IN VIVID “BRIGHT” COLOUR. Students may select the colour medium of their
choice (Note: pastel colors will not be accepted). The finished artwork MUST be A3 SIZE IN VERTICAL
FORM. No A4 sizes can be accepted.

When designing the artwork, it should be remembered that
